I am a 30 year old Black women who has struggled with hair loss since childhood. I've never head a healthy hairline. Tight braid pulled my hair out at the edges. Despite my hair loss I never saw a dermatologist. I just assumed is was the braids. After seeing before and after transplant videos on line I thought that was the best possible avenue for me to take. I contacted a few places for consultations. When I contacted natural transplants Dr Segiel did my consultation. He was very nice and told me that I would be a great candidate. He told me this even though the only thing he knew about my scalp was that I wore braids. He never suggested I go to a dermatologist. I know I should have gone on my own, But he was willing to and did perform surgery on my scalp without know anything about it. When I went in the day of my surgery he did even exam my scalp. If he did he would have seen that I actually have scaring alopecia. I 100 PERCENT should not have gotten the surgery. This place is a business. They are nice but they don't care about you and your life. They only care about getting paid. My life is ruin. Like i can't even cut my hair because of this terrible scar. Please ladies go to a dermatologist before having this procedure done. These doctors will operate on you no matter what. It's a business. Please really think about this before you go through with it. if I could back I would have NEVER done this.

Here at Natural Transplants, we pride ourselves on being honest and transparent throughout the entire hair transplant process. Upon reading this review, we feel like a rebuttal is in order. We hope that this review will educate you and others thinking about the process of a hair transplant. It appears that you have been misinformed on some major points, and we hope to highlight those in a positive way. We have reached out to you directly multiple times to discuss your concerns, however it appears that you are unwilling to communicate with us. Additionally, your concerns were never raised with us prior to this review and as such, you never gave us the opportunity to address any concerns, much less be made aware that you had concerns to begin with. To that end we urge you to respond to our calls so we can address your concerns directly.

Firstly, you are right when you say that not EVERYONE is a candidate for a hair transplant. There are some skin conditions that do not accept the transplants. Some of these conditions are termed "scarring alopecia" and include CCCA, lichen planopiliaris and frontal fibrosing alopecia (FFA). In some cases, but certainly not in all cases, a scalp biopsy might be required to get a diagnosis of scarring alopecia. Our doctors are very familiar with the red flags which would require someone to have a biopsy--areas of smooth/shiny skin, inflammation, a pattern not consistent with traction or a patient who has no history of traction hairstyles---In your case, and also after re-reviewing your pictures, you would NOT require a biopsy. The pattern and your history are consistent with traction alopecia. If there were any red flags, we would have required this from you. Along those lines, we would like to be put in direct contact with the dermatologist who you mention in your review and see a copy of your patient file, including any laboratory reports.

Secondly, for you to say that you are unhappy and leave a scathing review at 2 months, is a downright misinformed stance. It takes 4 MONTHS for hair to grow in a transplanted area. You won't even have one new hair prior to 4 months. Thus, a negative review at 2 months, when you haven't had any result yet much less not being fully healed, is a bit preposterous. We are confident you WILL begin to see growth in your new hairline in 2-3 months, and it WILL begin to fill in nicely. For comparison, your review can be likened to planting tomato seeds and bashing the tomato seed company 3 days later on social media because your tomato plants have yet to grow and yield dozens of tomatoes.

In the interest of full disclosure, we propose that you publicly post pictures of your month-by-month progress on this site. In time, with the proper information and full disclosures, we believe your negative opinion and review will be changed to a positive.

We did have a chance to review the pictures of the "horrible scar" that you speak of, and frankly, the scar is minimal and will not limit you with your hairstyles. It takes time to heal and the scar will continue to fade over time.

It is rare that we have a negative review. We have hundreds of traction alopecia and scarring alopecia (yes, scarring alopecia) clients who have had amazing results, personal blogs, pictures, and videos that can attest to our clinic being fair, honest and skilled. After reading this review, we can't help to think that you may have another agenda. We are looking forward to seeing your month-by-month images posted here and some amazing results over the next few months. We know your new hair will bring positive life changes for you, as it does for all our patients, and we hope you communicate those changes so we can all share in that joy.

Lastly, once that positive change occurs, we hope you highlight your positive experiences with the same passion in which you have talked about our clinic negatively.

Are you going to post any pics? I am very interested in how it looks after a full year since your transplant. Hope you are doing well and that it all turned out for you.
