That is Everything to Me

WORTH IT
As a woman, the thought of going to a hair transplant clinic terrified me. For context, in the past 10 years or so, I have accompanied one male relative after another to a hair transplant clinic, including my husband who got a beard transplant about a year ago. For some reason, these spaces have always felt like they cater exclusively to men. It is not just in the way they are set up but also in the way they advertise their services. It all screams ‘we want men’. So, when my traction alopecia got to a point where not even cosmetic hair fibers were working their magic, I knew I needed a hair transplant to cover the patchy and smooth skin that barely had any hair. But despite how desperate I felt to restore the hair in my hairline and temples, I was not about to go to a male-centered hair clinic. I chose heva after talking to their one of their doctors who was very sympathetic to my case. He walked me through the various cases similar to mine that they had handled, and she also took me through other cases with causes besides traction, and this helped me feel seen. After some back-and-forth, we decided on the FUE method. I was not that hung up on shaving my hair but it was nice to know that I had the option. My only non-negotiable was that I did not want to get up from that table with a fake pluggy look. You know what I mean if you have seen most male hair transplants – they often just look off. We even shook on it because I was that determined to avoid it. So, was my choosiness worth my trip from the US? Oh yes! I love my results so far at month 8 because my hairline looks very femenine as it has that downward and forward angle that you would see in most women. And the density is so thick that my edges are back after almost 5 years of not having any. That is everything to me and you had better miss me with any hairstyle that could ruin this progress.
