I am more nervous yet more at ease, if that makes sense, after reading the postings here. My surgery is outpatient and my husband will be home to take care of me. I only have the day after and the following week off before I go back to work (desk job). I do NOT want to tell my co workers I've had the surgery. Can I get away with that? Am I wrong for not wanting to share? I teach a low impact chair/standing Zumba class and after taking the summer off, need to be back to it the second week of Sept.

I don't think you are wrong at all..it really isn't any of their business. I am 26 years old. I had mentioned it to a friend, and she completely shut the idea down. Mind you, she has never been over weight or pregnant. I plan on taking a month off, then going back to work. I am not telling my coworkers anything. You have your hubby thats all that matters. Good luck on your journey!!!!

I didn't tell anyone at work. I went back on my 10th day postop & the only thing that would have given it away was I was wearing skirts and dresses - but it was just starting to be spring, so I think I pulled that off. I still don't really fit in all of my pants yet (3 weeks postop) because of swelling.

Hi desgal! I agree I didn't tell anyone on my job but my office mate. Plus I work with a bunch a men so you know they don't understand. I do think a week after is really soon but everybody is different. I''m 10 days pos and schedule to return on the 19th. The pain wasn't severe it was more of being uncomfortable and what ever you do since you are returning work soon after wear your CB to help with swelling. Good luck with your journey!

I don't plan to tell my coworkers either. I have a desk job but fly around the office so I plan to take 3 weeks off work. I am not sure how you are going to pull it off with your job but you must be super fit so just listen to your body. Best of luck.

July 24 will come soon enough. Kinda glad it farther out.. gives me more time to research comments, ideas, suggestions and the like on here. i can only get two weeks off. I'm trying to stay in good physical shape, hoping that will help with my recovery. Photos coming next month.

I feel the exact same way! I took only a week and I day off but I'm going to start taking a lot of iron and vitamins so my recovery won't take forever. I have NO idea what to tell the ppl at work. I don't want their judgement

I told my boss I has having surgery (but not what kind) and that it was personal, and I didn't want anyone else to know. No one else NEEDS to know unless I choose to tell them, and at this point, I don't want to tell anyone.. none of their business anyway!

I plan on telling people iv've had a "women's" procedure and leave it at that. its only your business. x

Being physically fit should help you out a great deal! What all are you having done? 2 weeks post-op should probably be ok for a desk job from what I hear and read on here. I'm scheduled 7/29 and I'm taking 3 weeks off from work. I'm a nurse so I want to at least be able to walk and stand up straight by the time I return. I've shared what I'm having done to a couple of select co-workers, that I know have had "work" done themselves. If you don't feel comfortable telling co-workers then don't. This is for you and it's your business, I agree with cinderboy! ~ Continue to take good care of yourself and let's hope time waiting goes by quickly! Keep us updated!

Pre Op got postponed

Just found out the doc will be in surgery at the time they scheduled my pre op appointment. Now I have to wait 4 more days. I'm nervous enough as it is and anxious to get my questions answered! Hubby still cannot go to the appointment with me, and I have to take extra time off work now to go to the rescheduled appointment. Feeling frustrated and blah!

I am scheduled for the same day and feeling the same feelings. I am only able to take off 2 weeks and do a lot of walking through the day so I am worried how well I will do, I certainly don't want to cause additional swelling. I just told one of the doctors that I work with that I am having surgery but I did not elaborate. My feeling is similar to what others have said on here...I don't really want to be judged because I am opting to have a tummy tuck. I am "having scar tissue removed" but not mentioning where. I am concerned that it will come out because I found out Friday that one of the PS in the practice I am going to have the TT done is a patient at my practice but its too late to change things now. Anyways, my Preop is in 2 weeks so let me know what you find out!
