Open Wound! My Tummy Tuck Journey! - Great Neck, NY

Hello Beautiful Ladies! I hope everyone is doing...

Hello Beautiful Ladies!

I hope everyone is doing well. I had a Tummy Tuck with Liposuction of my Flanks on July 20, 2013. I am about 6 weeks Post-Op. My incision above my Vagina opened up after about two weeks. I ended up in the ER for two days and was told I had a "Local Infection". I was given two different types of antibiotics through an IV and I was prescribed oral antibiotics when I went home. My PS was on vacation the whole time I was going through everything. I'd like to believe that my open wound is getting better but I don't want to get my hopes too high. I started to use "Santyl" which is a medicated ointment my PS prescribed me and my brother who cleans my wound and does EVERYTHING for me says that my wound is getting harder to clean on the inside which hopefully means its closing. Even though I've been through so much I can honestly say my surgery was WORTH IT. I never took into consideration any type of complications and I think not too many of us do. There's a lot more to my story but I don't want to write way too much. :)

@MamaRomo: I'm still recovering. I see my PS on Monday September 9th. My stomach is still swollen. In the morning it's not so bad but as the day passes I'm super swollen. If you have an specific questions I will be more than happy to answer! I'm not sure if you're thinking about surgery or have had surgery but even through it all it was definitely worth it! Lots of love! P.S. I just noticed the "Reply" button under your comment so I'm sorry if this posts twice. I'm a little slow.

@MamaRomo: Thank you so much. I did make it through the toughest part. I wish you all the best with your surgery and stay positive! You are making the right decision. We only have this one life so let'a love it to the fullest. Beauty is pain so they say and now I know that's really true. Lol. Please take lots of Vitamins ASAP! It will help with your healing. I didn't do that. I'm doing it now. Also, ARNICA PILLS you can get them from GNC or The Vitamin Shop. The Arnica Pills I took after my surgery because the nurse "forgot" to tell me about them. They are great for the bruising and helps with the swelling. There is also Arnica Gel get that too so you can rub it on your stomach and thighs and it helps relive discomfort from swelling. Eat a lot of chicken, fish and veggies. Start now please!! Please keep me updated. If I think of anything else I will let you know. You will be in my prayers. I'm so happy that you are going to look even more beautiful than you already are!!

@MamaRomo: One more thing... Before surgery make sure you talk to your PS and explain exactly what you want from your TT. I was concerned about my belly button and where my incision would be. I told my PS I wanted a super round belly button and not a stretched out looking one that many TT patients have. I also wanted the lowest incision possible and I wanted it to be neat. I've seen a lot of women with zig zag looking incisions or too straight or too high. My PS was amazing. He delivered more than I expected. AND one more thing... Ask him what happens if you aren't happy with the results. Just in case. So you are both on the same page.

Your wound looks way better now. Sorry you had to go thru that. I had a necrotic complication, so I feel your pain, but have the same attitude that I'm glad to have done the surgery.

@kelli46midlifegift: Thank you so much. My PS told me I had "Fat Necrosis" in my wound. I see him Monday September 9th. So I hope I don't have much of it anymore. I've been on an emotional roller coaster. I had happy days and bad days. Then I realized that this was something I wanted to do. I chose to do this and besides my wound complication. I'm happy and I would do it all over again. It's only been six weeks but I can't wait for this swelling to go away. It's horrible. Even with the swelling I am so happy with the results. I feel better with the way I look and look better in clothes and that's what I wanted. I didn't do this to wear tight clothing, walk outside half naked or impress anyone. What did you have done? How long ago? I'm glad you're well!

I had a total TT with mr 11 weeks ago. I had the procedure because I just hated my tummy. Even when I was athletic and super active thru my late 30s I had a tummy. Now, at 46, when my ps told me I could be flat as a board, I signed up. No more boxy, untucked shirts. To be in a bathing suit and not look 4 months pregnant. I still can't wrap my mind around it. It's so wonderful.

Yes, excellent thought. In fact my belly button is round right now and i love my belly button. I want a round one vs. The long/ oval. Yes, incision placement is important to me too. I was planning on having those discussions the day of surgery when PS is drawing on my skin. Is that a good time to discuss it with ps or should we discuss before then? I am less than a week away. Freaking out!

I'm so excited for you. This is going to be one of the best decisions you have ever made! Believe me. I told my PS the day of my surgery while he was drawing on me. I wanted it to be fresh in his head. Lol. You will be in my prayers. You will be just fine. I wish I would've found this site before my surgery so I could've been more prepared but I'm glad I found it after! I am here for you! Also, my Aunt had a Gastric Bypass over 10 years ago and had to have a breast reduction, tummy tuck, arm lift and her last surgery which was 2 months before mine was a lower body lift and she's been my support and took care of me 24 hours a day for my first two weeks out. That's important. Also, she told me that when you wake up from the anesthesia if you feel tired go back to sleep. Don't force yourself to wake up if someone is trying to wake you up. Let yourself come out of it when you're ready! I send you all my love and I can't wait to hear from you after!!
