19 months post op!

TaraLynn23
WORTH IT
I'm now 19 months post op and I'm still completely thrilled that I had this surgery done. I have recommended it to so many people who I know are miserable with having such large breasts. If you're thinking about it, DO IT!

I can't say that everything has been perfect, but I would still do it again in a heartbeat. I never regained feeling in the outer side or underside of my left breast. That was also the one that took the longest to heal and that bruised and swelled the most after surgery. Today it was itchy from the inside, which I've read can be a sign of nerve regeneration, so here's hoping for some feeling back! My right breast also has some numbness on the outer and under sides, but not as bad as the left one.

I also lost a lot of nipple sensation in both breasts, but more so in my right. My breasts also are not completely symmetrical. They are about the same size, but one nipple seems elongated and points down farther than the other one.

To me, these are all something I can deal with, as the pros still definitely outweigh the cons. I can now go shopping for a bra at almost any store, as a 38DD is a pretty common size, especially compared to a 40I! My back pain is SO much better, and I can walk around the house without a bra with no problems.

If you're thinking about having a reduction, GO FOR IT! I was nervous and put it off for years, but now I wish I had done it sooner :)

I loved reading your review. Your breasts turned out alot rounder (and maybe firmer) than mine did. I also asked for a C cup since I'd had DDD's for so many years I was going for way smaller with my surgery. I know how you feel getting rid of those huge things.

Just a suture

TaraLynn23
I saw my surgeon today and the opening I have it just a suture that hadn't finished healing that poked through. No big deal, just keep a bandaid on it until it's healed. He also took new pics, which are what I posted. I'm still not symmetrical, but we're holding out hope that my lefty will continue to drop like my right has. Believe it or not, this is a lot better than it was at my 5 week appointment. I don't go back again until March of next year for my 1 year post-op appointment. I guess we will reassess then if we need to make any changes, but I'm 100% happy with my surgery and results and don't regret it at all!

Thanks- it is SO worth it! Just being able to go to the store and buy a bra or a swimsuit or a dress is AMAZING! I can even buy dresses with the band that is supposed to go under my boobs and it actually goes under my boobs :) Don't be nervous, it's going to change your life!

haha... you know my pain... There is nothing like shelf bras in camis and dresses that lay in the middle of your breast. My other concern is my stomach will finally be revealed. With breast this large (34I) all shirts look like baby doll shirts not after the surgery though. I have been walking trying to come down as much as possible within the time frame allowed. I have Fibromyalgia so pain in my right hand man. My husband wants me to have the reduction because he feels it will help alleviate some of the weight and pain.

They look like they got smaller from 5 days after the operation to 17 days afterwards - is this correct?

Hey TaraLynn23 what kind of bra did you get for post surgery? I am trying to find one before the big day.

Tara, I apologize greatly that I haven't commented on your excellent review sooner, I'm still getting used to all this information floating out here in cyberspace! Let me take a moment to say thank you and commend you on doing such a great job at chronicling your journey. You have a much better handle on these review pages than I do! I am so happy that your experience has been what you hoped.

Thanks! I think I'm mostly evened out now and feel great :) I also referred a coworker to your practice and she had a reduction last month with your partner. She is also pleased with her results so far!

Did you have a breast reduction and lift for $1475? I am having a t.t. with dr Hammonds partner,in February. Your breasts turned out great!

Yes, that's about what my total was after insurance :) Thank you, I'm very please with my results. I should post new photos, as they are completely healed and evened out now. A friend of mine had a reduction done with Dr. Hammond's partner a few months ago and is very happy with her results as well. Good luck!

Incision split at 3 months post op????

TaraLynn23
Tonight when getting ready for bed, I realized that I had a hole where one of my vertical incisions was and it was bleeding quite a bit. It's really odd, since my incisions are all completely healed over at 3 months post op, and that side isn't even the side that I was having delayed healing issues on. I'm going to call my surgeon in the morning, but have any of you ever experienced or heard of something like this happening? I did participate in a game of tug-of-war at my son's school yesterday, but i got the ok to do any activity well over a month and a half ago. I'll let you know what I find out when I call tomorrow.

Omg..no ive never heard of that...how big is the hole. Does it hurt...yes. get that taking care of immediately so infection cant start
June 5, 2013
It's not huge, maybe 1/8-1/4 inch diameter. It's so weird! Doesn't hurt at all. I'm working this morning, but calling the doc this afternoon!
June 6, 2013
oh no tara! keep us posted on the news from your doctor. hope it is a minor thing.
June 8, 2013
It wasn't a big deal, just a suture that hadn't healed completely and worked its way to the surface. I just need to put a bandaid over it til it's healed.
