I am a member of the armed forces. And every 6 months, we must take a physical fitness test. One component of that test is a waist measurement. For a female, your waist can be no more than 35.5". I have always had a bit of a belly, and now that I am over 40, my measurement was creeping up to the max. I was beyond stressed out each time I took my test. Even when I would lose weight, sometimes my measurement would go up because it is all about who is holding the tape. Where they place it. How loose or tight they hold it against your skin. It was nerve racking. So I decided to do something about this once and for all. I have seen of other women who have too much fat removed from one body part leaving it looking lean and muscular, when they carry a thick layer of fat everywhere else.
I had smart Lipo on Oct 7, 2015. It was a simple enough procedure. I was awake, though a little loopy, throughout. Afterward, my hubby took me home. I slept that afternoon and evening, took my pain killers as directed, then got up the next day, took two regular Tylenol, donned my spanx and a loose, flowing dress and went to work. I drive about an hour to work, teach a couple of classes and drive back home. Pain was well managed with Tylenol. Swelling with ibuprofen. I was a little tender, but not what I would call "in pain." I slept on my sides and stomach day one. It took me a while to get the local anisthetic out of my system. The tip of my tongue was numb for three days!
It has now been 3 weeks and there is still some swelling. My body still hasn't rid itself of all the liquified fat. I start out each day with a flat stomach from sleeping on it, but toward the afternoon, I can feel a lump forming along the bottom of my belly, hip to hip. It gets hard and is a little tender. Obviously it is a collection of destroyed fat cells awaiting my lymphatic system to clear them out. If I knead it, it breaks up and if I wear jeans or lowrise underwear, I get indentations in the lumps. But kneading and sleep makes them go away again. I'm sure they will be gone in a couple more weeks. I'm trying to drink more water to help flush them out.
Overall, so far, I can definitely see a difference. And I can bend over to tie my shoes without feeling like I'm losing my breath. I still feel like I will need a second procedure to finish up the front and address the back and flanks. But I am definitely satisfied and would recommend smart lipo for spot reduction.
FYI three years ago I tried Cool Sculpting on this same area. I paid twice as much to endure a very painful procedure, went through three weeks of excruciating nerve pain, and saw absolutely no results.
