Nose Before Marriage- Consultation with Dr G.
ORIGINAL POST
My fiancé proposed to me on Christmas Morning of ...
WORTH IT$10,500
My fiancé proposed to me on Christmas Morning of 2017. We dated for 5 years and he's always known that I wanted to get my nose fixed. After he proposed I talked to him about our wedding day and let him know I wanted everything to be perfect, including my nose! Considering that it takes about 1 year for a nose to completely heal, I knew i'd have to get my nose done sooner than later since our wedding is planned for 5/4/2018!
I flew to California on March 6, 2018, to have a face to face consultation with Dr. G. I had an email consult with him and was pleased with his response, but I'm really the type that needs to meet someone and feel 100% comfortable before committing. I arrived 30 min prior to my 4 pm appointment. There was only one other woman in the waiting room. The girls at the front desk were extremely nice and handed me paperwork to complete. While I was completing my paper work the front office phone rang non-stop. Dr. G is in high demand, so many calls asking about the next available date for surgery. I was getting nervous because I hadn't scheduled my surgery date and they were booking for June already!
The appointment:
Dr. G saw me exactly at 4pm, my scheduled appointment time.
He asked me where I was from and I stated "Austin, Texas" and he replied " You came out here to see me?" He was completely humble and had a calming presence.
Dr. G was honest about what I could expect and what was not possible. Very straight forward, which i appreciate. He recommended raising the tip, narrowing the bridge, reducing the nostril size, shaving down the hump, and fixing my deviated septum, which is a C-shape. I also asked about the healing process for thick skin and Dr. G stated that it does take a bit longer to heal. So I need to keep this in mind post-op!
I agreed with his suggestions and asked about scheduling my surgery in March. He let me know that his schedule was full, but he'd review with his front office and let me know if he was able to find an opening. When I walked out the waiting room was completely full with no open seating! I guess I was one of his first appointments that afternoon.
I flew back home the next morning and as soon as I walked in the door I received a call from Dr. G's office. They were able to fit me in on 3/28!!!!!!
I used my FSA card to pay for the $750 required to hold your surgery date. (Since a portion of my surgery is considered medical my FSA will cover some of the cost)
Next steps, get my blood work done and begin shopping for post op care products! Love to hear recommendations on what I would need for those who've been through this!

I think you will have a great result with Dr G. Your front is nice already and your nostrils are small.

Did you find the long drive to be an issue right after surgery?

March 29, 2018
The drive took a lot longer than expected! We underestimated traffic and it took us 4 hours instead of 2! I took a Tylenol extra strength right before we left the hospital and it held me over nicely! We told the doctor and nurse staff about our drive so they gave me nausea medicine intravenously so it would work right away! I didn’t feel nauseas one bit. I even took a work call on the drive!! lol not sure how I would recommend that! lol
