Hi! I was wondering how you are doing and how the healing is going? can you post some more recent pictures? thanks :)
December 31, 2012
I am back to normal and happier than before. My nose is still swollen and a little uneven with the nostrils but I'm sure it is due to more swelling on one side. Don't worry about the surgery, day 2 & 3 are the worst just because it is uncomfortable but it's worth it. And the surgery everyone talks to you and gets your mind off of it until they inject you and your out. It was so easy, I woke up with pain but they gave me injection pain medication and it was better within a minute or two. I only took the vicodin the first 3 or 4 days to make sure I didn't feel in pain. But really a lot easier than I thought it would be. It was worth it for me, you will see my pictures it is still swollen but for me it is still smaller than before. Just to let you know, no one will notice after. I have seen family even family I told I was doing it forgot and did not notice when I saw them. So if you do it for yourself it is worth it but no one else will notice I guarantee you. I love my profile from the front its is swollen but it only last a year to fully heal so for the rest of my life I will be good hopefully ^_^

I know its swollen from the front but I still love it! The funny thing is I'm sure people that didnt know you had something done, wont even notice the swelling! Your nose fits your face so well and it def looks like the nose you meant to have! :)

Look so good! :)
December 31, 2012
Thank you a lot better than before!!
December 31, 2012
I meant "looks" lol
December 31, 2012
Lucy, you look great, and as the swelling goes down, you'll be even happier, I'm sure! Congrats girl !!

Again your last post helped sooth my fear. ;) I took the splint off myself yesterday (Saturday) as my Dr. said I could do it on Thursday or Friday. I wanted to wait for him next wk, but at 10 days post-op it was really starting to peel & smell, yuck. The smell is not unlike anything else that has been casted for a while. I did email him to ask if there were any harm & if it would compromise my nose I'd deal with the smell & wait. He said as long as I was gentle after running water over it in the shower it should be fine. Came off easily. I love the new narrow shape, but the tip was pretty swollen compared to the rest that I got a little panicky. I expected swelling, but was so hoping the tip would not stay bulbous compared the rest of my nose. I wasn't prepared for that much swelling still, so reading your post in that you are experiencing it too helped calm my fears. ;) I have to remember this is part of the process. I look forward to hear what day you notice even more swelling to go down. Are you allowed to gently put any cold compresses on any section of it? Any other advise they gave you for the swelling besides sleeping elevated? Thanks!!
December 31, 2012
They just told me to sleep at about 30 degrees, I just use two pillows I just finished physics is don't want to think about angle lol. I work for a Dr. And she told me that ice would help with the swelling so I have peas in a glove with the hand on my forehead and fingers along the sides. I also am taking árnica and bromelain, not consistently though which I should. I have read by 3 months 80 percent of the swelling is gone but there is no evidence just doctors opinions on some blogs.
December 31, 2012
My doctor said the same thing about swelling going down that much in that time frame. I am taking Arnica too. I will try the glove thing. Good idea! Thanks!

So the tip is swollen to about twice its size...

LUCY1990
So the tip is swollen to about twice its size since the splint the removal, I did a lot of shopping get yesterday so that probably did not help. I have to sleep slightly elevated about 30 degrees in order to get all the swelling in my face and nose to go away. I am happy with the results from what I saw yesterday. One nostril is slightly bigger than the other but that's probably due to swelling.

The funniest thing is that my bf was upset and not very supportive when I told him I wanted to do this. He did take care of me and during his lunch he would come home to walk the dog so he has been great. Now he keeps looking at me saying my nose looks great! Worth It! I need to remember I was looking for an improvement and not perfection. But I think it is as close to perfect as a doctor can get and it is a HUGE improvement!! My bf says I haven't looked this happy and a while, I just feel more confident. I use to be called squidward in school and that's what I always thought of when I saw my face in the mirror, now I love looking!

I was waiting on your review and 'gift2myself' review to make up my decision....! you look amazing! from the research I've been doing, I think your nose will drop a bit, I dont know if you want it to or not. How has everyone reacted? how does it feel to see your profile in the mirror??? tell me! I want to live vicariously through you! :)
December 27, 2012
From the front its a bit piggyish so I want it to drop a tiny bit but I love the profile. I know it will drop just hope not a lot. I haven't seen anyone but my bf and he loves it. My family is getting together Sunday, they haven't seen me without my splint. I LOVE my nose. I know the tip is huge due to being only 9 days since surgery, that's the only thing I don't like but it's still smaller than before. I keep looking in the mirror, I can't believe I have a cute nose that I like. I'm looking at all my old pictures around the house and it makes me want to go out and take new ones lol. I am so happy because my biggest fear was ending up with a worse nose because of some stories I have read, and my new nose is better than what I hoped for!!
December 27, 2012
You're so funny! haha ;) I feel the same way!
December 27, 2012
So excited for you! I want to have that same experience! Your doctor seams great and I really like him so far!
December 27, 2012
Just looked at your pics again - home recovering, keeping myself occupied - and I'm telling you Lucy, your nose is just too cute! Okay, going to sign off and do something productive now!
December 28, 2012
Thank you you look really good! I am so glad we found Dr. G :)
December 27, 2012
your nose looks so cute! It already looks amazaing and you're still post-op swollen! You look great :D
December 28, 2012
Thank you. Less than a week for you! Your going to look great! Also my nose was dripping a lot and ran out of the gauze and tape they gave me, I saw you were getting a list of supplies and I forgot this so I had my bf pick me up some around day 3. And peas in gloves was awesome for the swelling.

Good luck with your surgery! Worst part was just trying to sleep without breathing with your nose but after the 4th day it's a lot better.

LUCY1990
I finally got the splint removed about an hour ago. I like it already just the tip is really swollen I hope it goes down a lot. I have to tape it at nights and I have an appointment to go in to see doctor in two weeks. While I was there there were about 5 people maybe 6 getting their splint removed too! He does a lot of rhinoplasties, so that is good!

your nose looks great! You got through the worst part of this journey. :)
December 27, 2012
LUCY!! You are adorable! I love your new nose!
December 27, 2012
Thank you. You look really good too! I am so glad we picked this doctor. My tip has swelled up to twice its size after going grocery shopping yesterday but I am glad we are both happy ^_^ no more :>)
December 27, 2012
And I was there an hour and half after you and there were two other splint removals besides me! Plus a few new patients, too! One of the girls told me her surgery was on the 21st, but she was getting her splint removed today. Maybe he's a little splint-removal backlogged cause of the holiday!
December 27, 2012
Yea I figured the holidays caused this since they weren't open. What's funny is I read reviews of people always seeing his rhinoplasty patients while waiting so I figured he did do them often but every time I had gone I was the only one there, so I was wondering if they were living. And when I got there I saw two people waiting with splints and by the time I left the office was full and there were people standing in the hallway.
December 27, 2012
The hallway! omg! Probably he had surgery yesterday and you were his first office appointment, and then the others arrived. Did it hurt to get your cast off?
December 27, 2012
No it didn't, but I didn't have any stitches removed. He removed the splint and pulled the plastic in my nose out in like 30 seconds! It was so fast, I thought he stitched the plastic to my septum but he just had the two stitched together. I still have the stitches inside my septum, which hurts when i yawn. Do you have to tape your nose at night?
December 27, 2012
Yes, I have to tape, and still sleep elevated. You too, right? My nostril stitches are gone, but I'm not sure about stitches in my septum. Nothing hurts when I yawn though. One of my nostrils is slightly larger also. I'm almost sure it's cause he did the surgery through that nostril. At least, that whole side of my nose and tip are more swollen right now than the other side. When do you go back? I go back on Jan. 10.
December 27, 2012
Yea that makes sense, when I have seen videos of the surgery they usually do it through a nostril. I go back on the Jan. 9th. Yes they told me to sleep at about a 30 degrees angle, my face a still a little swollen so they said that will help with the swelling.
December 27, 2012
Looks really great Lucy! And you know it will just get more defined as the swelling continues to go down. My doctor told me that in 2-3 months 80% of the swelling will go down then over the course of the 1st yr it will finish going down. I am now 7 days post-op. My doctor is out of town for the holidays, but I have another post-op with him next Monday, 12/31. That is when I will have my splint removed. He said I could take it off with water if I wanted to tomorrow or Friday, but said if I can wait, just wait for him. It is starting to drive me crazy, but I also have 2 small children & think I need the extra protection in the meantime. :) Anyway, love seeing your results. You look fabulous!
December 27, 2012
Thanks and yeah the last couple days it did get annoying but like you said, it's protecting out noses as I did bump it a little a few times. I've read a few stories were it pulled people noses and their doctors had to reshape it so better to wait! Good luck!
December 27, 2012
Wow your nose looks great! : ) I was looking at Dr Grigoryants website and I love his before and afters! I live in Nor Cal but so far I really like what I see with him. I'm wondering though did he perform a closed rhinoplasty on you? I have heard that that is usually not as good as an open but looking at all of his results with closed I'm wondering why.
December 27, 2012
Thank you! Yes I had closed and he prefers closed. It's really up to the surgeons skills. Open is easier for them but longer healing time for the patient and I read the tip droops more with open rhinoplasty. I was more uncomfortable during my healing and only had stitches inside my nose. I thought I had stitches through my septum but I was wrong, they just held both plastic pieces that were stabilizing my septum but he took them out today, painless and quick! He is really busy but I am glad I went with him because he definitely has a lot of experience and I do love the new shape of my nose!
