I've decided to write this review because Real Self helped me pick my doctor and I hope my review helps someone make their decision wisely.
First off I broke my nose in the fourth grade. Big noses tend to run in the family but now big and crooked I felt miserable looking at myself everyday. So finally my mom let me get my nose done when I was exactly 15 and a half years old. My doctor did take down my hump and straighten my nose but I still had breathing problems and my nose was still very long. Now 23 years old and researching for over two years I picked Dr. Grigoryants to do my revision. Dr. G has many awesome reviews on Real Self and he tends to do the cute button noses that I love so much. I first emailed Dr. G and he told me he would "refine the tip of my nose and raise it, lower my dorsum and open my airways". Which I assumed he told most people. I then went into the office to have a in person consult. I wanted to make very clear what I wanted. I showed Dr. G pictures of noses I liked and even a photo of his own work. Some of the pictures I showed him he thought looked "piggish" but the raised tip look was something I longed for so badly. The tip of my nose is something I hated the most and has always looked witchy and huge. I was scared Dr. G wouldn't raise my tip enough so I kept telling him I knew what I wanted and I wanted the tip to be a higher. I told Dr. G that I wanted to be able to see my nostrils when you look at me straight on.
This week marks three months since my surgery and I'm still unsure about my nose. Like my fear my tip to me still seems pointy, big and my nose long. I see Dr. G October 29 and I will address my issues to him I know my tip is still swollen and could shrink but a lot of it is scar tissue and I don't feel like my nose where be what I wanted. My breathing is amazing and yes my nose is a big improvement from before but I'm not in love. After paying almost 13K plus hotel/ traveling fees I wanted to be in love with my nose. Yet when my friends or my ask me about it I feel "meh". I understand completely there's only so much you can do to change and work with a nose but I can't help but feel disappointed. I don't feel a lot of Dr. G reviews on Real Self have that feeling after most seem really happy.

After seeing Dr. G for my check up Oct.29
Unhappyrevision13November 15, 2016
I saw Dr. G and addressed my worries of my nose being long in length and the tip hanging down when I smile. He tried to tell me that the tip hangs down far because when I smile the muscles in my face pull up my nostrils but I told Dr. G even when I don't smile the tip hangs farther down then I wanted. This is why I stressed to him before surgery that I wanted my tip higher than he would normally do I wanted to see a lot of my nostrils. Next I showed him pictures I had taken the previous day at Disneyland and my nose looked awful. It looked huge. For someone who paid over $12k my nose shouldn't look this way. Then he told me that it's my iPhone, it has a fish eye lens so it makes all nose look bigger. He took my into his office and took picture and did a comparison. He saw I still wasn't happy and told me to have patience and wanted me to come back in 3 months. Yet I'm not sure why he wants me to come back so soon when he said that swelling and the results I want won't be noticeable till after a year or longer. Coming back in 3 months I will still won't be happy. After this visit I had professional grad pictures taken and my nose till looks long. I'm still disappointed and don't think it's just the fish eyed lens of the iPhone giving me my perception that my nose looks the same as my old one yet a being a tiny bit shorter. The tip of my nose still hangs over. I'm trying to have patience but it's difficult. The pictures that I showed Dr. G for my nose inspiration and my nose don't even come close.

He's used this same excuse before on all his unhappy patients . It's weird , you would think he would come up with a different one. I like his work ,but he doesn't always hit home runs and he should just acknowledge it instead of making this same weird excuse . It's ridiculous . The reason his noses look bigger/wider is because he uses grafts period . They don't look good on everyone .

Did your tip drop at all or was it always like this since cast removal ? You don't have a bad result , but from what you're describing , it's definitely not what you were looking for . I wish you all the best in the rest of your recovery
November 15, 2016
It was higher before and he told me that it wasn't suppose to drop at all since he used sutures to keep my tip up (yet it's not up at all)... thanks you so much for being understanding. A lot of people on here keep saying it looks fine or that I need more patience but I think it's pretty clear I'm one of the unfortunate nose jobs of Dr. G.
Dr. G just assured me many, many times that my nose was gonna look shorter and the tip wouldn't fall yet both were wrong. I'm still not sure if I will go back in 3 months like he asked. I'm not sure what the point will be.

I think people try to be supportive , but what they don't understand is , that it can be very frustrating, and depressing when you keep trying to express something and people won't acknowledge it. It just make you more depressed. Like I said , this is not a bad result, but I know it's not what you paid for. I def see the tip is not high enough for your liking which surprises me because g always does very high tips so I can understand why you chose him. I like the grad pic , you look pretty
November 16, 2016
I agree with dollfaze, you don't have bad results but you should have definitely gotten what you paid for. I feel like Dr.G's profiles are mostly great but the front views are lacking. I mean that for many noses he's done (including mine) but not all, of course. I hope that the things you are unhappy about change for the better as swelling goes down in your nose. As for seeing him in another 3 months, i don't blame you for possibly not going to see him. I mean if you happen to be in the neighborhood then why not, but if you live far than seeing him after a year sounds like a better option since he's just going to tell u that you have to be patient & wait a year.

I'm so sorry to hear you're experiencing this. Dr G did my revision 9 months ago and I paid $14,500 cash and my nose is still too long, the tip is bulbous and there is a lot of asymmetry overall. My nose appears curved and it looks like he added cartilage to one side but not the other. I haven't been back since I would have to catch a flight. Through emails he told me I am having uneven swelling and that my iPhone is producing a fish eye'a point of view in my selfies. My nose is crooked and long/bulbous... in selfies, the mirror, pictures, and in person! He told me to contact him again at 18 months (another 9 months). I would not return to him for another surgery. He's very sweet and nice in person, but some of us just don't get the results that others get. It's hit and miss. I agree your nose still has some swelling and it will refine more, but if you're unhappy with the length that's one thing that did not change for me and is unlikely to change as time goes on... I'm so sorry you're experiencing this. Thank you for sharing your journey here. Feel free to Inbox me . Hugs

I think we both got the same results feelings like our noses are still long and droopy tip. Disappointing to feel that way when we both paid a [RS bleep] ton of money. I havent decided if I would go back to him to get tip revision I guess only if he did it for cheap since I already paid him for my revision and am unhappy with it.
Are you considering getting your whole nose or just the tip revisioned? If so have you considered any other doctors yet?

1. Got to agree, your picture does look better with his camera! That's crazy!
2. I think your nose looks really great! Not to "done" looking
3. You absolutely can feel like you didn't get what asked for, I'm so used to seeing his noses so upturned, I'm actually surprised!
4. Give it time, you're not botched which is good, and have a tip revision in a year if you are unsatisfied. You look so pretty, nothing but love for you!

Thank you so much for your kind words. I do like my nose but the tip it the only thing I feel disappointed with so I might consider getting that redone. I'm surprised too that I didn't get the upturned look since that's what I wanted and that's what he usually does. Yet when I went to him in October he thinks my no is upturned.
November 16, 2016
It is upturned in your profile shots, but I can totally see what you're saying from your front view, it's still dipping down when you smile and you didn't want that. I actually cancelled my rhinoplasty with Dr.G because I was worried about it being to upturned. I guess it's a crap shoot. Keep us posted, let us know how you're healing. It's amazing how different it can look in another few months. Having been thru this already, I'm sure you know that well.
November 20, 2016
I had the same experience, I am not happy. He did what he wanted with my nose, I wanted a slight change and my nose now is completely different.

I wanted something completely different and feel like my nose is the same.. lol we're opposites hahha

4 months post op and took these pictures Nov. 19. These were taken on a professional camera and Im showing the close up version of these pictures. I'm still unhappy with the length and how my tip still drops. My nose is no where near looking like the photos I showed Dr. G. And I do not think much will change between now and at 12 months post op.
I've decided not to go in for my 6 month apt but I might go in at month 8 or 9 and discuss tip plasty and if he can do anything to the to make it look the way I wanted it to.

You are so so pretty! And congrats on graduation. I can see your disappointment if you were wanting a small very upturned Dr.G nose. Your results are huge improvement and look super natural, which is great. But to spend all that money it sucks to not get what you really want. I'm sorry :( I do think though these surgeons can only to so much though, maybe with your nasal material or facial structure this is all he could do... so maybe this is natures way of telling you to not change your look TOO much :). You're gorgeous. BUT... if dr.G did do the best he could and these are the results, which you're not happy with, he should admit it and stop making excuses. While he does produce some amazing results sometimes, he doesn't seem to admit fault or take criticism particularly well at all. Blaming a camera lens is pretty lame. Good luck in your healing!

November 24, 2016
Very well put , I agree . What does he have to say about these pics ? Still fish eye lens ? That excuse is very lame .
November 24, 2016
Thank you so much for the compliment I appreciate it! I think I'm disappointed most that Dr. G gave me so much hope and validation that he could make my nose close to those pictures I showed him even the day but my nose is far from it and even now won't take responsibility for my nose and blaming the cameras lens and swelling... if he didn't think my nose could look the way I wanted with surgery I would have appreciate him letting me know inside of me dropping so much cash lol

Ok I don't want to freak you out , but I'm really surprised how much your tip does hang . Especially, when you smile. Did he not use a columella strut ? What did he use to support the tip? Tongue and groove maybe? Your nose does not like look bad . I'm strictly commenting on the tip drop which Is very visible
November 24, 2016
Lol it doesn't freak me out I'm just glad you see it to! It valdiates how I feel. Like I no I'm not crazy my nose looks big still and my tip hangs a lot when it shouldn't at all after rhino. Everyone who had surgery with Dr. G comments after saying they fear about looking piggish and I never had that fear since my nose never looked like that ever eighth after surgery.
He said he put sutures in to keep my nose from drooping but apparently that didn't work.
My tip is what I was most worried about before surgery and made it very clear to Dr.G how it important it was but I feel it looks almost the same as before.

I'm no rhinoplasty expert but I think it often takes a lot more than sutures to support a tip that wants to droop. Mine is very supported but it literally feels like a titanium rod holding it up. I also have rib graph in there. It's ridiculously annoying it's so stiff!!! My nose may have many many other issues down the road (I'm only one month from revision) but I can tell you with complete confidence right now the tip is supported and not going anywhere. This is a very up and down rollercoaster, I feel your pain. I don't think going to see him in 3 months will really do much expect he'll tell you it's swelling or to wait another year. I hear he's very responsive with email, do you communicate that way?
December 16, 2016
Maybe your muscles in that area are really strong as to why the sutures did not work? I do not think it looks the same as before, but can see what you are unhappy about. Btw, congratulations on your graduation! The joy is evident in your eyes! :)

November 24, 2016
You def needed more than sutures . A strut or even better a tongue and groove would have done the job . It seems like you needed the extra support . Some people don't but in your case we can see it did. Luckily , you're still pretty and has not taken from your looks but in the future if it's really bothering you it will def need to be fixed

December 29, 2016
lol struts are SO uncomfortable just so you know. They make the nose stiff and immobile.
November 25, 2016
get your money back from grigoryants and go to Guyuron in Ohio. Trust me I had 6 revisions finally decided to go all the way to ohio . He's the Dr. that other drs use. He's the best and will give you a pretty feminine nose .
December 11, 2016
You're SO pretty! Your nose is beautiful and elegant, and much better than upturned and snooty.

I cannot emphasize enough HOW MUCH SWELLING there is in your tip. Like it's crazy insanely swollen, trust me. If you like the shape and you have no lumps and bumps in weird places, I think there is a very good chance you will like your nose at the end of the year, when the swelling is down. With a revision, your swelling is going to be that much worse and might even take longer. I totally feel you, I am actually looking to revise mine too, but just a little tweak and hopfully no more tip work, but it's the tip that swells like a bugger and stays swollen, and it's what you see face on. I will load a photo of my "one week" after and my "now" front on. You will see how much different it is :) Hang in there!!
Your nose looks nice. Give it more time, it is a revision. There is so much swelling. I know it's hard to hear but the revisions really do swell much more than primaries. I will follow your story, I know it's going to get better as time goes on :)
