Very Pleased with Dr. Grigoryants and Staff (Rhinoplasty) - Glendale, CA

I am so pleased with the outcome of my rhinoplasty...

I am so pleased with the outcome of my rhinoplasty with Dr. Grigoryants. He is extremely talented, artistic, patient/thorough and confident in his abilities and it is quite obvious that he is a master at what he does. Gohar and Lili, his two assistants are lovely as well and made this process very easy and stress free from start to finish.

I experienced no pain at all throughout the entire process and had very minimal bruising and swelling. I didn't have to take any of the prescribed painkillers and aside from the "annoyance" of having a stuffed nose for 5 days (before the cast removal) and having to stay inside for a few days this was quite easy. In my search for "the best" nose surgeon I had never come across any other surgeon who does as many rhinoplasties as Dr. Grigoryants in a single week. HIs average is 3 surgeries/day five or six days per week. I never felt rushed when speaking to him at my pre-op and post-op appointments and felt that it was important to him to assuage any of my concerns and answer all of my questions. It is obvious that he is an extremely hard-worker and goes above and beyond what would be expected -- how many surgeons stay are doing consultations and pre-ops until 7:00pm? I can answer that for you; none that I have found aside from Dr. Grigoryants.

I very highly recommend Dr. Grigoryants, and as someone who spent quite a bit of time researching and going to different consultations and meeting with different surgeons, I can say without any hesitation that you will not be disappointed in choosing this surgeon and his team. It is quite obvious that Dr. he cares about his patients and their concerns as he was kind enough to email me back on a Sunday night re: a somewhat stupid question. His staff is very friendly and sweet and were instrumental in putting my mind at ease and reassuring me that I would like the outcome. In addition to his great skill and ability, the anesthesiologist, whom I had for my surgery was absolutely incredible-- I experienced no nausea post-op, did not have a sore throat from being intubated, nor did I feel tired at all. If I had not had a cast on my face, I would have been able to go out and do things right after surgery. I have had anesthesia 3 times in my life (including this time) and was very pleasantly surprised at the level of skill of my anesthesiologist.

Gohar, Dr. Grigoryants surgical tech. made the splint and cast removal SO EASY. I read so many stories about people complaining about how they had discomfort-- I find this so hard to believe because there is zero discomfort in the way that she removes everything. His other assistant, Lili, was very sweet as well and went over the pre-op information in good detail and really put my mind at ease about what to expect.

I will update in a few weeks when my swelling has gone down :)

Thanks so much for sharing your opinion about your doctor.

I would love to add your experience to the rhinoplasty community, but it would be helpful if you could provide some more detail about your experience with your procedure/treatment. I suggest adding pros and cons and/or before and after photos - optional of course, so that other community members can use your review as a guide through their journey.

Looking forward to your response so I can add your review to the rhinoplasty community.

Sorry, I am not comfortable adding photos as this is a public website. I have been happy to email them to various users via email per their request.

You're a little over a month post-op now! How is the recovery and swelling going? How was sleeping for you? ...I'm a side sleeper so the idea of sleeping on my back, propped up for 7+ days seems uncomfortable :P If you wouldn't mind putting up pictures of your before/after, I'd be really interested in seeing more of his work...I still haven't seen any that I don't like, he has a great eye!
April 29, 2014
Sorry, I just saw this! I am 8 weeks post op on Thursday. I am a side sleeper too-- the first week was hard for me as I slept in an almost upright position as I was trying to mitigate any potential swelling. The worst part is not being able to breathe through your nose for about 10 days-- extremely annoying. I did not have a sore throat or any issues from intubation (which I was worried about). I currently have a cold and was just telling my husband that the rhino was less of a pain in the ass than the cold! I would be happy to PM you photos if you message your email, as I don't want photos on a public, plastic surgery site!

I haven't even thought about my throat hurting, thanks for the heads up. I understand, I'll send you a pm!

1 month post

2 months out this week and still very happy.

CoutureGirl
Not much to report other than this has been an absolute (painless), breeze. I am so happy that I chose the right surgeon and after reading so many reports of uneven/extended/abnormal/yadda yadda swelling etc., I am happy that I have not experienced any of those issues. I have gone back to working out (pilates/yoga/trainer etc.)and have not had any issues with increased swelling. I am a very healthy eater and very rarely drink, so I would say that those two factors have played a role in my recovery.

I have a cold at the moment and was just laughing with my husband at how much more annoying it is to have a cold than it was to have the rhino.

Hopefully it continues to be smooth sailing from here out.

Goodness, you're so obsessed with Grigoryants! Almost every single G review on RS includes photos ;). I have sent multiple photos to: Newnose07, Harleyyquinn, sunflowersislove, llaauurraahh, rozeroze,HdinHd, RockclimberSC,looking for solutions,rhinestones,Newyork26,Peanut7,and Emily445. Not sure what your (many) issues with Grigoryants seems to stem from, given that you have never even had a rhinoplasty. Someone else suggested that you have been looking for 8 or 9 years and still haven't gone through with it. I understand that you love Le's work; that's great, however, not sure why the constant need to worry about everything I say? Have a lovely weekend, and I hope you settle on your choice of surgeon soon-- must be hard seeing everyone else happy with their respective results when you haven't had yours done yet!!!
May 4, 2014
8 or 9 years--exaggerating for dramatic effect, another symptom of histrionic personality disorder. You should really get that checked out.
May 4, 2014
yep I'll stay obsessed with Grigoryants off the shelf noses as long as you stay obsessed with hounding Carol about the "peculiarities" of Le's work.
May 4, 2014
just laughing at this comment. I love when people start tossing things like this around as the only person who seems to have issues with histrionics, is you. Asking questions is part of learning in life, instead of flipping out about it, settle down and relax.
May 4, 2014
No doesn't bother me--my nose isn't that bad to begin with so I can afford to be picky. Thanks for your concern though
May 4, 2014
Honey, honestly, relax. Everyone uses different methods to do things, I never said one was better or worse than the other. Most reasonably educated people (go Trojans!), like to ask questions and learn about things. Maybe you don't, however, because one asks a question, it does not mean that one is putting someone down. It just seems like your obsessed with Dr. Le when you haven't even had a nose surgery with anyone, that is more peculiar than anything else!
May 4, 2014
You're*
May 4, 2014
It's one thing to ask a question and it's another to fill up half the comment section with your continuous jabs about Le's surgery length. Being a Trojan says more about your daddy's wallet than your intelligence level. I graduated from a UC so don't try to school me on the ways of the "reasonably educated".
May 4, 2014
So thus far, my choice if surgeon, college I attended and manner of asking questions is not to your liking. You must be a very unhappy person to have to continually insult someone whom you don't even know!
May 4, 2014
the bottom line is this. Yes there are very few Le patients on here with pictures. That's why when someone is generous enough to come on here and post photos--it's annoying for not only the readers but the OP to see people cluttering their comment section with petty, critical comments . It discourages other people who might want to post reviews with pictures.

Oh my goodness-who has enough time or care to seek out arguing about rhinoplasty plastic surgeons online?! Take this-mine has no photos on Real Self and I feel the same way about my PS as CoutureGirl feels about hers! How on earth could that possibly happen?! Ha. I consider myself well researched (even going out of state for the procedure) and very comfortable with the decision AND I'm not going to tell anyone else what to do with their choices! Stop obsessing.
May 28, 2014
Hi CoutureGirl, Could you please email the pictures too? I am desperately researching for a revision specialist and heard your doctor is wonderful. Additionally, could you please tell me the rented house you stayed in. Thanks so much. I look forward to your reply.
May 8, 2014
So glad you are happy with your nose and were able to resume your normal activities! I'm still in the annoying 'can't breathe out of my nose' phase : )
May 8, 2014
That lasts about 2 weeks and then the internal swelling goes away and it's SO nice. At the month follow-up Dr. G cleaned out my nose too-- it was AMAZING lol.
May 22, 2014
Hi Couturegirl, I'm thinking of having a revision to correct a very bad rhinoplasty job I had in 2010. Someone sent me a message recommending Dr. G. I checked out his website and think he does a great job. I was wondering what your thoughts on choosing Dr. G. for a revision rhinoplasty. Revision is completely different from primary. Some doctors don't even go near doing revision on patients. I appreciate any thoughts, advice, suggestions, etc... :))
May 22, 2014
Hi Toronotian (great city!)- I am about 11 weeks PO and have only good things to say about Dr. G's work. I have compared my current results with those who are at similar points in their respective recoveries (and look back on my earlier photos and look at others' photos). I can confidently say that I have never had uneven swelling, excessive swelling etc. Obviously there is still swelling as I am less than 3 months p/o, but unlike most others, my tip is not huge etc. Dr. G and I actually spoke at length about revisions as I was waiting for him to cut my ring off (during a post op- long story) and he explained that he does do a lot of revision rhinoplasties, but that he is picky due to the psychological 'problems' that can come with rhinoplasties. He basically said that when someone is so unhappy with something and so fixated on it for a year plus, that they are sometimes very hard to please because they have spent so much time/energy/focus on that part of themselves. He said that at that point the plastic surgeon is almost a psychologist as well. If I had to have a revision, I would definitely go to Dr. G. I think his aesthetic is far superior to many other doctors, he delivers what he says he will deliver (and more), there are never any excuses with him, he has always been extremely responsive to my questions and emails and this process has been a breeze (as I said in my review). Personally, I think that Grigoryant's noses are generally the best looking noses on this site (not from a biased perspective) as I thought that before I selected him as my surgeon. I appreciate that he does most of his rhinos closed as I think that the open technique is far over-used and regardless of what the doctors that are selling it say, it does cause more issues. I mentioned this in another post, but check out the post on MMH under the heading "open vs closed" in the forums -- MsJ's post is very informative. I grew up with many friends who had plastic surgeons for parents and I remember one of them always saying that in order for someone do to great noses they must do them ALL the time and continue improving their skills. If nothing else, I would send him your photos and maybe your op report from your first surgery and see what he says? Before I had my nose done, he suggested that I watch a video on YouTube of him performing surgery, it is amazing. Good luck in your search and I hope you find the best doctor to suit your needs.
May 23, 2014
Hi There. Thanks so much for your thoughtful and very useful reply. Yes, Toronto is a great city! Mind you we had a really bad winter and just starting to recover from that trauma :) --I think Dr. G. is very correct about patients who may not be psychologically ready to do a revision. That's why I am very conscience of taking care of my myself (as had as it is sometimes) to make sure I am in a state of mind to clearly communicate and understand my surgeons. I Will follow up on your advice and send him an email and see what he says. I Live in Canada so doing a revision in the US might be very costly (travel costs, accommodation, food, etc.) but LA is kind of feasible for me because I have a friend I can stay with for a while. The point you made about open vs. closed is very interesting. I have to read a bit more about it and get more "educated". My primary was closed and all doctors I consulted for my primary said they would perform a closed rhino, but this time around because of the damage to my tip and crookedness, they all say they would perform an open rhino. I, personally, prefer closed because I am very scared of the swelling you get in your tip after an open rhino. Thanks again for all the information. Glad to hear you are so happy with your nose :))
UPDATED FROM CoutureGirl

12 week update

CoutureGirl
I am almost 12 weeks P/O (Friday) and am absolutely loving my nose. I have no complaints, no uneven swelling and am loving it more and more as the weeks go on. I rarely tape it at night anymore (maybe 1-2x/week) as I kept it taped for almost 1 month ALL the time-- I really think that helped the initial swelling go away quite quickly.

I see quite a few noses on this site and am always so impressed with Dr. G's aesthetic and find that his noses generally are the best looking that I see. I recommend that everyone do their research and make sure that they are seeing a surgeon who does at the VERY LEAST 6 rhinoplasties/week and who is proficient in the closed method as the healing has been incredibly fast and less traumatic than those who have gotten open rhinos (from what I have seen on this site). My next appointment is my 4 month follow up in July and I will update more then!

Attention: Anyone looking for any information on rhinoplasty, botox, statistics, economics, or anything at all for that matter, contact CoutureGirl. She knows everything there is to know in life and has such a vast amount of knowledge that nobody could ever hope to educate her on anything. In fact, I recommend you all skip visiting a doctor regarding any concerns about your procedures and just ask CoutureGirl. It's a miracle she hasn't put every plastic surgeon in the country (except of course for the saintly "Dr G") out of business by revealing their incompetence and "lesser" abilities. In fact, I'm amazed she hasn't become president of the United States by now!
June 23, 2014
You poor darling. I never said I knew everything; perhaps you're projecting? You seem to like to follow my comments and blog. Additionally, I have not put down other surgeons. I do think that Dr. G is better than a vast majority of the rhino doctors in the US (you're certainly entitled to your opinion!). Being the president of the US seems like an awful job, so no thanks on that one.

In all fairness, it can't be denied that grigoriants is tops in his class. I love every nose from him also. I wouldn't hesitate to go to him or recommend him. Because of my own experience, I rate Dr. Naderi on the same level. I can't believe what he did with my nose- its perfect. I don't need the cast off to tell either. People should choose their surgeon carefully.
June 25, 2014
I agree that Naderi does good work hence why I suggested you go to him over Gillman :) @ Allyson- Also, I do have a lot of experience in this arena as I worked for a plastic surgeon during summers in h/s as well as managing dad's friend's practice in NYC for a summer (during college) while his person was away on maternity leave. I am not trying to be a "know it all" about botox and rhinos and what not, but I do happen to know a fair amount about those two subjects.
