WORTH IT$10,500
The nose is refining nicely and swelling continues to decrease. The tip is still very hard. I have small pockets of swelling under my eyes still where the worst bruising was. I don’t know why my body is unable to clear these fluids. Dr. Grigoryants suggested me seeing my primary care physician for some water pills. Does anyone have any ideas for me? You can still see them under my eyes if you look carefully. I also have a puffy pocket of swelling above each eye not noticeable in these photos. The throbbing I was experiencing at night and the weird twinges I was getting have stopped so I’m assuming the nasal fracture is nearly healed. I’m still not sleeping well at night though.

Returning to Glendale for 2 Months Follow Up On Issues
amy241November 9, 2017
I am returning to Glendale today for a 2 month follow up appointment this weekend.
I can hardly believe this much time has passed. I’m returning because I have several issues.
First, I’m unable to sleep well. I am seriously sleep deprived and don’t know what to do about it. I never sleep through the night anymore and on many nights I get only about 2 hours of sleep. I lay awake most of the night and re-position myself on the pillow. For the first 6 weeks, I slept on my back every night at a 45 degree angle. Now, I find I can’t sleep flat. Seriously. The bigger issue is I am (was) predominantly a stomach sleeper. Now, I find my nose can’t take being mushed into the pillow anymore. And although I can sleep on my side, I smush my feather pillow under my head so it has no contact with my nose and I still can’t get comfortable. It’s like when I’m on my side the pressure on the side of my face must somehow put some pressure on the nasal fracture. The end result is that I am reduced to trying to sleep on my back all the time or not sleep at all. My back is actually sore from sleeping on it every night. Has anyone had the inability to sleep comfortably this far out in their recovery?
My other issue is that I don’t breathe well out of my left nostril. I am able to breathe very well out of my right nostril. When I look in the nostrils with a flashlight and a swivel mirror, I can see the left nostril is more obstructed than the right. I have a large lump near the septum and a band of scar tissue on the outer wall of the nostril. I’m assuming the band of scar tissue represents an intranasal incision but I have no idea what the lump is. Together, they work to obstruct breathing. I guess I’m wanting to know if the scar tissue will calm down and flatten out over time or will I have to live with this? Would a Kenalog or steroid shot help with scar tissue inside the nostril? Can anyone offer advice?
Finally, my tip is still very swollen and numb. I know this is to be expected for the first year. You cannot see the supratip break for the swelling. But when I touch my tip, it does not feel natural. It feels weird. I know there is a strut graph in there holding up the tip (my biggest complaint was droopy tip) so I just may have to learn to live with this feeling. Has anyone had a strut graph in their tip and does it feel better or more natural as time passes? It’s like I can’t tolerate anything touching it, even my pillow.
All in all, I’m very happy with the new nose and it’s a vast improvement over what was there.

Sorry to hear about your sleep problems. I am a stomach sleeper too and I was really worried going into surgery how i would manage to sleep on my back but somehow I got used to it. I think now you can start sleeping normally- you are not going to damage your nose. My tip felt weird and was very stiff up to 7months but it feels normal now. I also have some lump in my left nostril but it does not affect my breathing. Healing is such a long process... one day my nose looks so refined and I am excited that I hit a major milestone in healing and next day it is all puffy again! When I read reviews of other people, I thought how it was possible but now I am know what they meant! Are you going to post update pics?

Thank you for your supportive comments! I am leaving Los Angeles today and heading home. Dr- Grigoryants was happy with my nose at my 2 month follow up appointment. He told me that I was having difficulty breathing through the left nostril because my nose was “stuck.” I asked him if I had adhesions and he said no, it was stuck due to dried mucous secretions. He reached in with a long Qtip and popped the nostril open. I had been cleaning 3-4 Times daily for the first 6 weeks and am now cleaning 2 times a day so I’m not sure how that happened but it must have been there since the beginning. I can definitely see I do have more scar tissue in that left nostril but at least I am breathing better now since he did that. I will post new photos when I get back.

Glad to hear your appt went well. I used nasogel spray and found it helpful in my recovery. I also used Otrivin seawater with aloe Vera. Looking forward to your new pics

What is Nasogel? Is it a saline gel or something else? I’ve bern using Arm & Hammer Saline Spray and really like it because it is under pressure and really gets up there.

Yes it is saline with spray moisturizers.

2 Weeks Post Op Update

I'm not noticing any sutures or scabs falling out yet. I've lost 1 intranasal nostril thus far. I'm starting to worry the sutures will not fall out. I've removed no scabs at this point despite irrigating with saline spray 5-6 times per day. I'm also applying Vaseline to Nostrils twice a day because it makes me feel better. I've been able to remove some mucous but no scabs. I'm worried about that too. So many reviews point out that they have removed scabs by the 2 week stage. I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong?
On one of the profile views I'm wondering if the nostril is pulled down too far? It looks fine from the front though. I'm very happy with the new nose! It's a major improvement over what I had.

I think your nose looks great! I'd be very happy if my nostrils looked like that. I was afraid to look in mirror for good 6 months as I did not look good on my front view and I am still struggling. I feel like I looked girlier with my old nose and now the nostril show makes my look harsher. As for scabs, I think mine started coming out after 3 weeks and, as I mentioned, I did not see any sutures coming out. I waited for 3 months and the forgot about them lol.

You can check out my 8 month update pic to see what I mean about my nostrils.

I'll go there now and take a look. Did Dr. G do your primary or did he do a revision?
September 28, 2017
Thank you. That was my primary. May I ask you why you asked? I am a bit baffled as several ppl asked me the same question:)
September 28, 2017
I just wasn't sure. When I went back and read your review from the beginning, I realized you had mentioned it was a primary at several points.

It looks great and no I don't think the nostril is pulled down too far. It's hard not to critique every single part of your new nose this early on! I was surprised how much it changed from week to week. As for the scabs and sutures, I wouldn't be too worried about it. I think my last suture fell out like a month after. I haaated all the boogers and congestion at the phase you're at now. It goes away eventually!

Thank you so much! I’m now at 3 Weeks and I’m still not losing sutures. They are all still up there and starting to irritate the tissue. I called his office and one of the ladies told me it takes 4-6 weeks for the sutures to dissolve. That seems like too long. Every review I read here says they were all gone by about 3-3 weeks. Did you experience dryness? I feel like I no longer have mucous membranes, the lining feels dry like the desert.
