Post Op Bloating

User Avatar

I figured I should share this little tid but I learned and did NOT expect! After my surgery I realized I was easily 10lbs heavier (not including the weight of the implants which should've been about 2lbs). I was mortified, devastated and super depressed. Gaining 10lbs overnight was shocking to me. My abdomen was bloated from the surgery. And this is apparently normal.

I remember going in two days later for my first post op appt and my surgical bra didn't fit- because of the bloating. So I recommend this be something you plan for! I left that appointment braless and my surgeon said for me to hold on to the bra and within a couple weeks it should fit. He was right but it only took one week. Thank goodness!

I recall being up MANY times during the night having to urinate. It was so annoying because moving was painful. After the fact it dawned on me that the reason I had to urinate so much that first week was because my body was releasing that fluid build up! Yay.

Anyway... just a little something I learned in my recovery. Feeling great today! Almost to my 6 week mark!

I certainly had more bloating and swelling than I expected! not just my stomach but thighs as well , I am almost three weeks and I notice I bloat again at times but it goes away. I was told it could take 4-6 weeks for your body to completely get rid of those fluids. I too was horrified!!! I still won't even try my jeans on just in case they don't fit lol glad you're feeling great! I got 440 anatomicals , so I'm reading your profile!

Hi! Happy to hear the bloating is starting to subside! I took a peek at your profile and you look great! By week 6 I was able to hit the gym and do hard cardio. My breasts didn't bother me at all. The only thing that bothered me was how out of shape I had become! Are you able to sleep flat on your back yet?

I'm happy with how natural and proportionate I'm looking in clothing. Still only wearing my post op bras so maybe when I switch they'll have extra umph. :)

You look fantastic and natural. Congratulations. I'm also considering anatomical implants. Would you share your thoughts with me?

Thank you SO much! I love my results and would definitely recommend the Sientra anatomicals - if that's what your plastic surgeon feels is a good fit for you. I feel like I made the best choice for me and I'm pleased. I liked the texture on the implant, the warranty, the quality and low capsular contracture rate as well as the overall natural appearance. I'm four weeks post op now so there's still more time to go. But now it seems like it's more of a waiting process for my muscles to relax. The implant itself should be stuck in place. Good luck in your ventures!
