WORTH IT
First I want to thank all of the beautiful brave women who have shared their stories and pictures as well as bared their emotions on this site. Your testimonials helped me with my decision and inspired me to pay it forward by sharing my journey. Thank you! So, a little about me, I'm 45, 5'2" and athletic. I've had implants for 20 years. I got 300cc saline over the muscle after pregnancies and breast feeding transformed my once perky 34Bs into two pancakes with raisins on top, lol. The 300cc took me to a small C cup and really helped restore my body confidence. I was happy with them for many years. Over time they began to ripple and sort of slosh around in the pocket. I wanted to replace them so I saw a very reputable PS who suggested I switch to silicone for a more natural look and feel and he suggested I go a bit larger to fill in the skin that had loosened over time. My husband was all over the bigger suggestion, lol. We discussed 400-450cc. After surgery I woke up to 550cc that took me to a DD cup!! Way too big for my frame. The PS told me the swelling would go down but fast forward to today, years later and I still have DDs. Don't get me wrong, he did a great job on the surgery and I've had a little fun with these, but they're not for me. I'm sooo ready to be back to me. Ready for my clothes to fit, no popping buttons on button down shirts, looking top heavy in dresses, looking heavier and more matronly than I am. Ready to wear a monokini minus the major side boobage. Most of all I'm hoping to be rid of the chronic neck, shoulder and back pain. I attached a recent pic. I was shocked, I call it my mega-boob pic. My poor top straps are hanging on for dear life! Thanks for sharing my journey with me.

Check my story! It's a lot like yours. You are going to feel so amazing - and light! Shopping will be fun again. I went from DD/D to an A cup and I couldn't be more thrilled with hoe I feel. I wish I'd have done this 10 years ago. Good luck to you. I had 700 cc overs removed with capsules under general.

Thanks for commenting lisa0714, our stories are so similar! You look great. I'm opting for a lift at the same time. I'm excited and nervous about the outcome but ready to move full steam ahead.

Ivr seen so many girls have a great outcome with a lift. Based on where my nipples are compared to the fold I didn't need one. I think the Dr was even pleasantly surprised. I envisioned just having sheets of baggy skin. You'll be pleasantly surprised with what you have after! I'm happy as can be to have an A cup. 25 years of being the girl with the big boob's was 20 too many. Keep us posted. Are you nervous at all? I wasn't until the night before. The morning of surgery I was like where's the Valium guy? Where's the Valium guy? Hahahaahaha it's been the best decision and journey ever. Congratulations on making this decision. You will not regret it.

Consultations

Hi everyone! I planned to have three consults before making a decision but I only had two. I first went to the PS who performed the BA and he ticked me off within minutes. I was very clear that I didn't want to replace the implants and had questions about the lift procedure and he kept asking me "are you sure you don't want to go with a smaller implant? ". He dropped lines like, "you won't be happy with them", "they'll be deflated ", "they'll have a very flat appearance", blah, blah, blah. Ugh! He practically ignored questions about the lift. He was in implant sales mode. Believe me I know that what he's saying may be true, I understand the reality that removing the implants may leave me with a look I'm not happy with. I'm not looking for a PS to lie to me. My problem with him is that he wasnt listening to me. I called him on it, he tried to back peddle but by that point I was super irritated and my decision was made. Anyway, rant over about him. I left his office knowing I wouldn't be back. My next consult was with Dr. Timmons and wow what a stark contrast. He came in, sat down, listened to me, told me he understood my concerns, did an exam and told me he thought the explant and lift would give me the result I'm looking for. Explained why, showed me some before and afters, answered all of my questions, wasn't rushed at all and he was very pleasant and down to earth. A couple days later I received a personal letter in the mail from Dr. Timmons thanking me for choosing him for the consult. I canceled the third appt with another PS that charges $200/consult and booked with Dr. Timmons. By the way, Dr. Timmons patient coordinator Shannon has been awesome as well. I'll do a full review after the procedure and after care.

Good for you for sticking to your instincts! And congratulations on your decision to explant. I explanted 11 days ago and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I contemplated a lift at the same time, but decided to see how things would shape up. Right now I'm leaning not to, but I still think about it and it's still a possibility in the near future . I'm excited to follow your journey. Good luck with everything!

Thanks VegMami! I appreciate the support.

May I ask what the cost of the explanation only was? It's something that will definitely be a factor in my decision.

I'm getting the explant and a lift for about $6000. The explant by itself would be less but Im not sure how much. Most doctors are glad to give you an estimate if you call, hope that helps. I wish you luck with your decision!

I explanted and lifted on Nov 7th. Although my implants were smaller than yours I knew that there would be extra skin and sag. I prefer to be smaller and perkier. Of course, there are scars and I will deal with it the best I can.

Congratulations on your decision! I'm now on the other side and it feels great! I can't stop looking at my new profile, lol. The scars were a bit of a shock but I agree with you that it's OK and we'll deal with it one day at a time. Thanks for checking on me!

Good for you.. I had 2 similar experiences... the 3rd surgeon I went with was similar to dr Timmons... great for sticking to your gut! I contemplated putting a smaller implant too only because they pushed it but I hate mine and want them out!

Sometimes I think some PS can't appreciate the beauty of the natural breast. They're so used to the implant look they see that as perfection. I couldn't be happier than I am now that I'm implant free. Good luck with your explant!
December 12, 2016
I agree they are also afraid that we won't be happy because they might not be perfect but they don't understand we want them out! Happy for you! And thank you!!

They're Out!

User Avatar

Good evening ladies! They're out! The procedure went great and I feel pretty good tonight. Some minor soreness but no real pain. My chest felt like it was on fire when I made it home after surgery, especially around the incisions but that has faded. I can't stop staring at my new profile. I feel so tiny and light. The breast shape isn't great yet but I'm working on being patient and giving my body time to heal properly. I'll update after my first post op appt and give more details on the procedure. Thanks to everyone who checked in on me today. I appreciate it so much!

Thank you so much for the positive feedback. I feel good but sort of self conscious at the same time so your positive words are so appreciated. Happy healing to you as we both continue to improve.

I totally understand how you feel! You really do look terrific and they will only get better. I will be thinking of you. It's had not to feel self conscious, it's such a personal issue and so much emotion is involved.

How did you manage to avoid the drains. I thought all lifts required drains.
User Avatar

I thought so too, but my PS told me he evaluates each on a case by case basis. I had no problems without drains. Slight swelling on the right side but it resolved itself .
