Before and After pictures
Wow, I can't believe it's been a little over 13 months since getting my procedure. I started seeing major growth around month 4 1/2. I opted out of using Rogaine and just mainly used leave-in conditioner. Overall, I’m satisfied with the procedure, but I wish I had gone with more grafts for more density. In total, I got 3700 grafts.

FUT Hair Transplant on African American Woman
After doing a ton of research, I finally decided I was going to go with John Diep for my hair transplant procedure. I scheduled my consultation for Sept. 8, 2022. I sent pictures of the top, left, right, and back of my head so he could have something to go off of. My consultation was pushed back 45 minutes or so, but it worked for me because I was still out running errands. During my consultation, Dr. Diep answered every question and reviewed the procedure's pros and cons. He reassured me I would be a great candidate for the course. The consultation lasted 40 minutes or so (typically, the consultation lasts 15 min, I believe). Shortly after, I told him I would be getting the procedure but needed to ensure it was done after Christmas. There weren't any openings, so I asked to be on the waitlist. I was contacted by Veronica or Pam (I spoke with both young ladies), who were both very helpful. There was an opening for Fri. Jan. 20th at 5:30 am. I paid for my procedure a little under two weeks before my appointment.
One week before my appointment, Pam called and told me to make sure I dyed my hair dark black, and she also reminded me to use the scrub that was sent to me the 3 weeks prior on the morning of the procedure. The name of the scrub is called BD E-Z Scrub 160. After washing it with the scrub, I didn't put any products on my hair and blow-dried it to make things manageable.
I flew from Texas to San Jose and stayed at a hotel 11 minutes from the clinic. My boyfriend accompanied me to the clinic. The directions to the clinic were easy to follow. We arrived at the clinic at 5:33 am. As soon as I arrived, I was treated and handed a stack of papers to go over and sign. The papers I didn't understand I left blank until the doctor arrived. Dr. Diep came at 6:10 am and took my boyfriend and me back to his office to review everything I didn't understand and the remaining questions I had. The procedure got started at 7 am and lasted until 10:15 pm. During the duration of the procedure, I was fed and constantly asked if I was ok. After everything was done, I was given the post-op instructions. Since I got the procedure on a Friday, I decided to stick around until Monday to allow the techs to wash my hair. So my head is slightly swollen, and my right eye is puffy. I've taken the medication prescribed, and the pain is tolerable. I continue to update monthly reviews on my progress.
