13 Months Later and Severely Disappointed

$21,000
Severely disappointed with my experience at MHTA. 13 months later and I'm still wearing a hat as I'm still so self conscious about my crown. I came to Dr. Diep because he was local and it was the pandemic, but damn do I wish I waited and went with someone more professional out of the area. Also, beware of a lot of the reviews here. Dr. Diep incentives patients to leave him a 5 star review by offering free services in exchange.

I saw Dr. Diep for my initial consultation at the end of 2020 and told him how important it was for me to get full coverage on my crown. We estimated I needed somewhere around 2700-3000 grafts. I scheduled my procedure months in advanced and came prepared to get my hair back. To say that Dr. Diep and his staff's bedside manners are atrocious is an understatement. I will get to the finer details in a minute, but in general nothing makes you feel more worthless or trash as a person than going through the process with Dr. Diep and his staff. Not only do they make you feel like just another number but unless you are a celebrity you are essentially cattle in their eyes.

When I got to my appointment, things were pretty decent at first. I was mentally prepared for a not so perfect experience with his custom drug concoction that he hands you in a tiny dixie cup. Before long, he's doing what he needs to to and extracting hairs.

At some point, the chair he is using breaks and I basically have to walk to some back room with my head bleeding everywhere and some horribly uncomfortable backup chair where he continued to extract. At this point I was really worried about the health of my FUs sitting outside my body and moving around his office frantically. Finally he finished extracting and I asked him how many he was able to get... he said 2263 was the most he could get. Then he left the room for his staff to place my FUs in my crown.

While his staff was working on my crown, they must've thought I was sleeping or something because they began gossiping about Dr. Diep. One asked why he wasn't doing as many grafts any more and the other remarked that it was because he was getting old. As you can imagine, this was a horrible thing to hear as a patient. I also felt really decieved as he said that 2263 was the max he could extract. As you can see in my photos, there was plenty of room left on my left side to extract more as you can see he went much deeper on the right.

After we were done I brought this up to him and he acted like he really cared and he wanted to do right, but it was an act. So far, 13 months later I'm here with my crown exactly as I worried it would be, and am not planning on doing another procedure with Dr. Diep. This has been an extremely depressing year for me and this HT has only made it worse. I wish I did more research and found someone who was committed to solving my problem, instead of getting me through their process to make money. I hope this review helps anyone thinking about using Dr. Diep.
