I went in for a simple procedure to correct tiny veins on the either side of the nose. It was the worst experience I've ever had! Painful to where I cried! I left there in pain, my nose was bruised, swollen, and so red and it was oozing. I called the next day they told me to put Neosporin on it and come in Tuesday for the nurse to see me. The receptionist even said she did a number on your nose I saw your face when you were paying. I had the procedure done on Thursday, and called on Friday to let them know how bad my nose was. They wanted me to come in Tuesday of the following week. I could not wear makeup I was scared of infection since it was oozing so much. I called the office on Monday morning at 9am and said I want Dr. Smart to look at my nose, they made me an appointment that day at 1:45. Dr. Smart confirmed that I had 2nd degree burns on both sides of my nose. He was not very caring at all. I am worried sick about scaring. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks since the procedure and it still looks awful. Not impressed with the entire staff. More pictures maybe provided.

I too had a yag laser treatment for spider veins on my cheeks and sides of my nose in November of 2014 and also got second degree burns. My face oozed and swelled up three times its normal size, I was unrecognizable for days, had to miss Thanksgiving. The burn on the side of my nose is now a crater and my cheeks are scarred and dented and white where the dents are. They used to be very smooth. I also have new spider veins around where they zapped. They told me I needed to heal for six months and I have an appt at the end of April to see what they'll do about it. They have been responsive so far but we'll see how it goes when they see the scarring. The one on the side of my nose I think needs professional scar revision. My cheeks, maybe fractional laser. I have had this treatment several times without incident but this time the person made a continuous pass with the laser handpiece instead of a single zap followed by a cool press with an ice pack. The setting was way too high. Apparently they should always reduce power for the sides of the nose. She did start out low, testing on a vein and ratcheting up until she got a response but still something went wrong. I am angry every time I look in the mirror at what used to be smooth skin.

Do you live in the Dallas area? I am going to a plastic surgeon tomorrow to get my nose fixed. I'll let you know how it goes and his info if you're interested.

No, I live in Denver. Two weeks ago, they tested me along my ear with a fractional laser to see how I'd respond to it. I'll go back in a couple weeks and if it looks okay, they will do my entire face. They said they'll do it as many times as necessary to fix the dents.

Any news on your scars? Did you see the plastic surgeon? I had my full face done with fractional CO2 laser this past Friday and am home recovering this week. They did a light setting but my skin still had a strong response so I am red and swollen but everything looks like it should and the peeling has begun. And oh my goodness the itchies you get! They zapped the scar on the side of my nostril as well and will zap it once a month for six months or so til it gets as good as it can. I have been following post care to a T and look like a big goopy tomato head. They have been very professional and supportive and truly seem to want to get me back to normal. I will see them again this afternoon for a check. I will keep you posted on the nostril scar over the next months in case you consider going that route.

Chaslam, how does your skin look now? Have the Dents with white lines fade or softened at all?

Same here, and now I have two craters on the side of my nose. The veins keep coming back, and I feel like the doctor/staff is partly blaming me for the whole thing, maybe since I refused to pay for the second and third "revision" which created the burns and scars.

This is not normal, either you had sun exposed skin or the practitioner had the setting to high. I treat nose telangiectasia all the time with the laser and have never had this happen. Hope you healed up well.

I thought a yag laser is used for skin resurfacing? Non ablative lasers are usually used for spider veins. I have rosacea and had mine treated successfully with only a few tiny, temporary bruises to show for it. Dang, what they did to you is like swatting a fly with a sledge hammer!

How are the scars now? I also had the same laser for some small
Spiders veins around nose 40 days ago and I now have s crater next to my nostril and a dent underneath the nose. The doctor says they will heal with time but i am very worried and terribly upset. I wasn’t warned that this could happen
