Hi Real Self! This is my review of my experience with Invisalign.
I am 19 years and have recently just started using Invisalign as of March 18th, 2015. I of course wanted to use Invisalign to have a straighter smile. As of right now my bottom teeth are very crowded and one of my front teeth is much more forward than the rest. I have been told that my teeth are kinda straight but to me they're not and it has always been something that I have been self-conscious about since I was a kid. I never got the chance to have braces when I was younger. My younger brother needed braces way more than I did so I just had to wait until it was my turn. After years of waiting, it wasn't until this past Christmas break that the whole idea of getting Invisalign became much more of a reality. I went in for the consultation and was told I was a good candidate which about 4 years ago I was told that I wasn't. I got all the pictures taken of my teeth and they showed me what my teeth would like at the end. As of now I am look at having Inviisalign for about a year and half, which doesn't seem that bad to me.
I went in March 18th (last week) to get my first few aligners and to get my attachments put on. Trying to get the attachments on was a hassle because I guess I couldn't get my tongue to stop moving and they didn't want me to mess anything up. I knew that I would be getting some attachments but it wasn't until that day that I saw it was going to be almost every tooth on top. I was a little frustrated with that because the whole point of me wanting Invisalign was so that it looked like I didn't have braces. So right now it looks like I have clear braces except without the wires. I am getting over it because at the end of this I will have straighter teeth and that's the ultimate goal. I was surprised by how thick the aligners were and how it felt when they were on. Taking them off was a little difficult especially the top aligner because of all the attachments but it has gotten easier. The first two days my mouth did hurt but I am about a week into it now and it isn't that bad anymore. It just feels like there is something on my teeth. I am getting in a better habit of flossing now and brushing my teeth anytime I eat. I do have to say that I can already tell a little difference now when I floss. Next week I will be putting on my second pair of aligners. Since I am in college (Texas A&M whoop!) and can't go home all the time for appointments, my ortho gave me 5 sets of aligners. My next appointment isn't until the third week of May when I am done for the semester and then I will be able to find out how well my teeth are tracking.
So this is my first of many posts for my review of Invisalign. I will also be posting pictures of my teeth along the way. I used this website and a lot of y'all's reviews to help me know what I was getting myself into so I want to help anyone out in the same way by posting my reviews!
Thanks and gig'em :)
