WORTH IT$4,350
Interested in Fraxel for moderate acne scars. I am scheduled for 5 more Fraxel Restore sessions after this first. I purchased a package of six for the 1550 laser treatment. Jocelyn, my aesthetician, handled the procedure alone without the doctor present. She put the numbing gel on my face, waited 15 minutes and reapplied. After an hour she came back to begin, she cleaned my face and exfoliated it. I told her that I was pretty tough so she went about mid-level for this procedure. She told me what to expect- heat and a prickling feeling and it was that! The prickling/shocking did not bother me as much as the heat luckily the laser had cool air blowing from the top of it. It wasn't awful but I would not say that it is a comforting feeling. At the end of the session, Jocelyn provided me with a fan and allowed me to relax as long as needed. They gave me a skin care kit with cooling gel, moisturizers a no-rinse cleaner and 50 SPF sunscreen for delicate skin. My face was on fire! Not in a terribly painful way more so a really bad sunburn way, it also looked that way. I drove home with my AC fan on high directed at my face. To my surprise, after I got home the pain faded, from what Jocelyn had told me about the skin care kit I thought I'd be miserable all weekend having to apply cooling gel constantly. I did not. I haven't even opened the cooling gel.

Saturday, my face looked swollen and still red, I was surprised that I could go outside after this procedure. From what I had researched it seemed I would be held up all weekend. Jocelyn explained that this was for the skin discoloration treatment rather than my acne scarring treatment. I put on moisturizer and then the sunscreen, then a mineral foundation to run a few errands.

Sunday, my face had tons of small whiteheads all over, even in places I don't usually break out in. From what I read, this was the skins way of releasing toxins/bacteria and repairing itself. I used the rinse less cleanser, then after wiping it down with apple cider vinegar to clean and then a couple of moisturizers.

Monday, I was still broken out but not as badly. My skin had this terrible dry layer of skin with the laser pattern. Makeup covered the blotchy patches but didn't look that great over the dryness.

Tuesday-Wednesday were the same.

Thursday, I started noticing that a lot of the dead skin had come off towards the center of my face and that the largest of my scars had improved a little. My pores were also a lot smaller!

Friday, still some dry skin on the edges of my face. Breakouts to a minimal, OMGoodness my pores are smaller!

I'm excited to continue my treatment. Jocelyn told me that I would really start to notice after the fourth treatment. I'll post updates that I've noticed a lot of reviews here are lacking.

Did you see any improvement after your first treatment?

Yes, my pores are smaller and the deep scarring did not look as harsh as before. This is only one of six though!

I had 2 lasers fraxel done. 1550 restore. I had my second one last week and the texture under my eyes is funny. I hope it goes away. My doctors office is going to look at it this Monday. Nervous it is permanent :/

It took about a month for my skin to get back to normal, and I go in this Friday! Definitely stay in touch with your doctor. What does it look like?

I went in today and followed up with the nurse. The texture is getting better everyday. She said it's still healing. I have another follow up appt in 2 weeks to make sure with the doctor. Do you know what settings were used for your laser? Mine was 70mj level 7 and 8 passes

I do not know my settings, she just said that they were mild on the 1550 restore. I'll make sure to remember this time! I'm glad it's looking better for you! How many do you have scheduled? Was it painful under the eyes more so anywhere else?
March 21, 2017
Your next laser is this Friday?? I'm scheduled for 3 and then evaluate how many more I need after that. Yes it was more painful around my eye and temple area for me!
March 21, 2017
For acne scars they usually use between 60-70mj so make sure you find out!

I feel like the first one was at 50 because she wanted to get my skin used to it for the first? Yes, it's this Friday. I plan to go to the beach afterward, I feel as long as I have sunscreen and hats I should be ok! Did your doctor recommend staying out of the sun?
You have acne scarring as well? What type? She told me I'd start seeing better results after the fourth treatment. I was surprised because one area is very pitted. Was it more expensive to do around the eye? I may look into it just to rejuvenate.

Yes he wants me to stay out of the sun for the first week . Make sure you wear a big sun hat too! I have acne scarring as well! I have rolling and ice pick scars on my cheeks and chin kind of like yours. It was not more to do around my eye area he did the whole face my treatments are 750 a piece.

Not too bad! Did you look into any other form of fraxel lasers? I wondered if the CO2 type would just be an easy one-time fix.
March 21, 2017
No I haven't looked into those. I was wondering that too. I was recommended this by three different doctors though so that's what I went with
March 21, 2017
they have co2 at the office I went to also and he said it's best for my type of acne scars. He said when I get older co2 would be a option I'm 28

That makes sense! I'm 26 so I suppose I'll wait until later too. The results from that are awesome! I bet it's a little more painful though.

How did your laser go on Friday?
October 6, 2017
How is your treatment going on?? Any side effects?? Please tell me because I took this treatment yesterday

No side effects! I've completed my 6th treatment, my largest scar is still apparent but they've told me that it will continue to fill in within the next year after the last treatment. Without a doubt, it makes my scars more liveable, as before it really hurt my self-confidence. I go back on the 13th of this month and I'm told that if it's not to my satisfaction they will give me a complimentary treatment. Definitely worth it!

Also, how many do you have? Realize it will take your skin almost a month to get back to normal depending on how harsh they went. Mine were spaced out a month apart and I'd have about a week in between of clear normal skin before the next one.

Did you get red went you got it? I just took this treatment and my skin is super red and a little scared

Round two of six was on 2/24/17.
The dry skin went away a lot quicker this time and I purchased their in-house makeup (LUXE) in hopes to make it look better during recovery. It's doing a good job so far, I use it every day. I feel that I don't notice much change after this second procedure. The scar is still there but maybe not as deep?
Jocelyn let me know that the reason I broke out in whiteheads previously was because of the sunscreen she put on my face directly after the procedure the first time. She let me know that this doesn't happen to everyone. She didn't put it on this time afterward but I did the next day and still had a few whiteheads.
She went a little milder this time at 60, 8 passes. I felt like it didn't hurt as bad maybe because I knew what to expect this time.

Round four of six was 6/6/17.

Round three was a breeze, she went a little mild but it didn't hurt as bad and it recovered quite quickly. I'm not sure if this is because I knew what it would feel like going in or what. I noticed that right before the fourth that my scars were becoming less deep but they looked larger? Maybe because they were more shallow? One spot was dark but my esthetician let me know that this was because it was active blood vessels healing the scar and it that it was normal.
The fourth treatment was a bit more painful. I had to reschedule my appointment due to a vacation about two weeks later? I was a week away from my time of the month? Maybe for these reasons, it was more painful than I remembered?
All in all I'm really loving my results so far. (I went to work without makeup one day!)

How do you feel now? I just got laser resurfacing and I’m on the fence. Of course I look like I just came out of the meat grinder, but I’m trying to decide if I want to keep going with more sessions once healed.
