Beware of the Fraxel

Beware of the Fraxel

KatMcFed
Worst mistake. I got a ton of wrinkles after the fraxel, and the Dr couldn’t wait to get me out of his office. He wanted to blame me! I did everything I was told to do! I specifically asked if there was anything that could go wrong. I went in feeling and looking great. After the fraxel I looked like a raisin

Did it improve? You look super fresh in the photo at the wine store.

She also had makeup on and the poc was shot at a distance. The 2 photos are not good to make comparisons.

It's really unfortunate that people post incomplete reviews and it doesn't seem to be monitored by RealSelf. She doesn't say how old she is or how much she paid; and as the the other commenter said, the original photo is not clear, she has make-up on and it is from a distance. This is really not a helpful review.

Not helpful at all . Need age , at least a three month review

This ladies' short review is unfortunately 100% correct. So many damaged by Fraxel and other fractionated lasers. All report same type of damage, it doesn't matter if it's the CO2, Erbium, Palomar, Pixel, Fraxel repair, restore etc... Do not just look at 3 month reviews, sometimes this does not mean anything at all either... damages often show up till later. Look at Awalk, (RIP,) one of the first victims of CO2 fractionated laser. She had open sores about 18 months after treatment because her skin was completely destroyed at sub cutis level and kept deteriorating. Faceruinedforlive, she was about 9 months out when she started her review now 6 years later no improvement face and skin ruined. A lot of others in her review...Sats, Kiki, Faxelvictim, Sandy, Prague, Janey44, Cjjr, 4abebestar, Whatamistake, wantmyskinback, walk313, Badlaser, ajapel, Tiki, Daisydog, iamsorrynow, etc etc...the list is endless. Doctors are confirming they are seeing more and more patients who suffered laser damage and present with extreme rapid aging of the skin due to the complete denaturation of healthy tissue caused by thermal injury and chronic inflammation caused by these lasers. As well as volume and fat loss just like the thermage and ultherapy victims. The science how this damage occurs is there and ther is no denying anymore a lot aren't aware and/or aren't sufficiently trained to correctly administer these treatments. These lasers are mostly Class IV ; the highest risk for skin and eye damage. Be very very careful lives have been ruined and lost.

I agree with you, Eve. Lasers work by damaging your skin. In theory you rebuild collagen to repair the damage. But not everyone's body is capable of repairing in the same way and sometimes the damage is too great for there to be effective repair. I think everyone needs to know there's unpredictability in how things are going to turn out. The industry is driven by money and I believe doctors will say there's been a good outcome when clearly there hasn't. My damage happened decades ago. Luckily it was in a relatively small area. I've come to terms with it and have effectively used retin a to rejuvenate the rest of my face. Never again will I let a doctor put a laser to my face.

This is very helpful, thanks

Thank you Eve8 and the rest of you ladies. These stories are tragic and avoidable with research. I had lasers done once on my face once, and now I realize why my skin may have prematurely aged and sagged in those areas a year later :(

agreed!

This is why it is always smart to get a test patch done first. I am going through ExcelV treatment (very safe, even used on babies for port wine stains) and I had them do a test patch on my cheek. No issues. For rosacea, the level is only for treating top of the skin and it targets vascular structures, not skin.
