I had wanted to have the loss of volume to lips...

WORTH IT$500
I had wanted to have the loss of volume to lips restored but was hesitant to have injections again. I had fillers injected about 10 years ago by a dermatologist and it was painful and almost intolerable. My dentist offers Botox and some fillers. A week prior I went to him for Botox and had great results, so I made an appointment for a filler consulation. Since he has a thorough understanding of anatomy and physiology, I felt comfortable with his assessment of what could be achieved in accordance with what I wanted (full lips, but not comical). I asked him if fillers could be used around my eyes to provide volume for my fine lines, but said that he doesn't inject in those areas and leaves that to plastic surgeons. I appreciate that about him; if he doesn't feel that he is best qualified for what is wanted or doesn't feel that a goal is attainable, he will let you know.
First, he numbed me with oral numbing agents (gel), then returned to inject numbing agents. After a period of time sufficient to be numb (he told me that I needed to arrive about 30 minutes prior for the numbing), he and his dental assistant began the procedure. I could feel little pricks in a few spots but nothing like the pain from the procedure years ago by a different practitioner. Overall, it was done in about 10 minutes (injections), followed by post-procedure instructions delivered by the doctor (verbal & printed), and he took his time to answer questions. At the prior consultation, he gave a $400-500 estimate for cost of Juvederm to my lips. Afterwards, despite using 2 syringes, he kept to that estimate cost.
I was definitely swollen but did not have pain.
Later on that evening, the pain started but was managed with some Tylenol. I can't wait for the swelling to wear off. He told me that I was "not supposed to love it or hate it for 2 weeks," because of the temporary swelling masking the true appearance.

That's good advice! Are you icing or massaging for the swelling? Do you have any bruising?

Love to see your pics when you're ready to post them!

Follow up for Juvederm injections

Several days after having the injections, the pain set in. I was able to manage with over the counter pain meds and ice. Luckily, I had no bruising. I was instructed to avoid massaging the areas to prevent migration of the filler. It's been two months now, and I love the results. I will try to find before and after photos to share.
