Dr. Lakin Thank You!

I had liposuction of my abdomen, sides, and flanks. Dr. Larkin, the results are amazing! And things will only get better with diet and exercise. I also have been doing the lymphatic massages as you’ve suggested which has decreased any lumpiness. Also the compression garments have helped too! Your confidence helped ease my anxiety when making this decision and your excitement of my results made me even more excited. I can finally wear a tight dress and feel beautiful and I no longer have to hide from the beach. Thank you so much!

Well I told my surgeon about my frustration about the lumps on my stomach and he kept repeating, this looks great! I didn’t feel great and I still don’t. I should have known considering he didn’t take a picture of my body during my last check up like he did after the first month. The bumps around my belly button just won’t go away and I’m angry that I may need a second surgery to fix this. Or maybe it’s not fixable :( The bumps don’t appear as much in photo as they do up close and to the touch. Is this normal and expected? Any advice?

I heard the lumps are when the compression garment isn't tight enough you might have to go down a size

Well, diet and exercise has done nothing, wearing a compression garment for months feels like only a placebo effect, and I still cannot wear a bikini to the beach. I am very unhappy with how my results turned out as my body healed. I question the decision I made every day when I look in the mirror. I truly hope that one day I will feel normal. I hope one day I will feel like a beautiful woman. This procedure made a huge dent in my savings account. And to fix the issue, it is going to cost you even more. It is so unfortunate.

Hey. Wow. Are they telling you that this is not an error on their part? That you have to pay to fix? I just got similar work done and I am not as far a long as you but I have similar lumpiness that supposedly will "go away" with compression garment, massages and time. I wonder. I am sorry about that. You should go ahead and see if they can help you fix it, if at all. Trust me, if my lumpiness is still there in 6 months- there will be a battle.

Yea the doctor just kind of played dumb and told me to do the same things. I am just afraid to go back to the same physician. If he messed up once who says he won’t again. I don’t know. I’m going to go see him one more time and see what he can offer. But of course the doctors make you sign all of those documents like signing your life away and I just feel helpless. Thank you for your kind comment though. I want to wear a bikini but in my eyes everyone notices the lumps :-/

Wear your garment with the foam pads inside and get lymphatic massages ASAP. My doctor failed to even wear a garment. I had to figure it out on my own. And of course exercise and diet. I hope your results turn out beautifully!

How are things going for you now?

Thank you for sharing your experience. I am sorry to hear that you ended up with some lumps and bumps after your liposuction. Those are usually evidence of healing after liposuction and tend to resolve with time by doing massage, wearing compression, and avoidance of strenuous activities too soon. Hopefully you are doing better now. Please reach out to me directly to update me how you are doing and if needed we can discuss next step options for the future. I no longer live or work in Florida. My family with our young children have relocated to Michigan to be closer to my wife's family. I have no connection to the previous Florida business that I worked at, nor do I have or had any say in their office policies. However, going forward, I will be able to help everyone at my new private practice office location in Michigan. As soon as I have a definite date of opening I will make an announcement about that. Warm Regards, Dr Lakin
