I am not sure if you remember but I walked into your office two and a half years ago....28 years old, diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, scared to death and having no idea what I was about to endure. I watched my mother die from breast cancer and I made the decision, without a doubt, two days prior to seeing you to have a double mastectomy. You do not know this, but I switched my appointment that day so my consult would be with you and not the other physician in your practice. Albert Einstein once said "There are only two ways to live your life...one as though nothing is a miracle and the other as if everything is." I believe you have been my miracle. Someone told me you were "the best" so I knew i had to see the best! Your compassion, amazing bedside manner, knowledge, positivity and sense of humor calmed me from the very beginning and has continued to pacify my fear throughout numerous procedures/surgeries. My body has endured so much trauma physically and emotionally that sometimes I was not sure I could go through it any longer. I want you to know how calming my visits to your office were, you never made me feel like I had to be "super woman" (even though I tried) and were always sensitive to my fears/anger/tears. You have always been so positive with each and every surgery and that is exactly what I needed. You have said to me many times "Kelly you have been through so much, but we are almost there." Well, we are finally here and I want to thank you for that. I want to thank you for literally making me "whole" again. I want to thank you for bringing my self-esteem back to life, for bringing "me" back to life. Please do not ever change, please always remain your wonderful and humble self. I hope I can one day be as great a nurse practitioner as you are a physician and touch peoples' lives the way you have touched mine. I am not sure where life will take us but I will never forget the compassion you have shown me. I have said it before but I could not have gotten through this without you and I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am not saying goodbye because I will be back when I start getting wrinkles and having babies and need Botox and a tummy tuck haha! With love and the utmost gratitude, Kelly Stars
