Forehead Reduction - Still in...Awe?!?!!

UPDATED FROM Brave1357
4 months post

5 months and 1 Day to the Surgery Date!

WORTH IT
Today makes 4 months and 1 day to my surgery date! I have not experienced any hair shedding-at all. No headaches-not one day. No Pains since the first (2) days of surgery-nothing. My head/scalp has been itching- but other than that-everything has been uneventful. The scar in the front of my forehead is now becoming less noticeable. My scalp doesn’t feel as “tight” as it once did. Just feels more normal now than ever. I’m just washing my hair, flat ironing it -sometimes-and letting it grow! No complaints about the recovery period! I would definitely Definitely do it all over again!!

thank you for sharing!!! some people scare me with the hair loss stories after this procedure.
You're welcome! I haven't had any hair loss. My scalp is "waking up" more so it sometimes itches like crazy, but that is so nothing!! lol. I was very scared of the same thing! My md never even prescribed that Rogaine treatment either so it's been cool.
very good to know!! when were you able to began styling/combing your hair?
Wow! It looks amazing. What did you use to heal the scar after removing the sutures?
ORIGINAL POST

Forehead Reduction - Still in...Awe?!?!!

I have always had a "high" forehead or what others would consider a big forehead, but it seems that within the last few years, it got larger! I would "hide" it under sew-ins and wigs, but finally enough was enough! I began my official research! I just knew that someone could do something. I had dreamed of this procedure-before I even knew that it was something that could be done. I consulted an md in my home state - he wanted to implant grafts- again, I knew something else could be done! I began to look in Dallas. I researched. And researched-I found Dr. Richardson. I quickly found that he specialized in cosmetic procedures of the neck, head, face..I scheduled my first meeting. From then on, the question was not "was I going to get the procedure done", but rather when. First off, Dr. Richardson was so professional. The entire staff was so warm and inviting. He was very direct about what we would need to do -which I loved-and he told me what would be the best course of treatment for the size of my forehead. I would have to have the 2 stage procedure. This would entail implanting a tissue expander for up to 8 weeks to stretch out my scalp even more to allow us to have more that we could possibly bring down for my hair advancement. After the 8 weeks was up, I would then have the tissue expander removed and the procedure done to officially lower my hairline. My initial surgery was around the 7th or 8th of November for the implantation of the tissue expander and then January 2, 2020 is officially known as the day that changed my life! Im still in awe as to how well all procedures went. Initially I measured at about an 11 cm forehead-he was able to bring me down around (5.2 cm) (I think I explained that correctly-I'll upload pics to tell the story!)- so now, I look "normal". I guess I don't have to hide anymore behind a cap, bangs, etc. The pain? Honestly, it was nothing like I expected. I barely used my pain meds-both times- after the procedures.
Dr. Richardson, Jessica (nurse) and the rest of the staff truly ROCK! You are simply taken care of from beginning to end. I cold not have asked for a better experience! If you are reading this-Thanks to you, Dr. Richardson for doing all you could to give me the results I so desired!! It has been a dream come true.
PS-I'll be sure to upload some pics when I finally get my hair done!

Wow! From 11cm to 5? That’s amazing. You look terrific! Can’t wait to see more pictures...maybe with a little more visible face? :)
YES, you heard (saw) correctly- 11 cm to 5 cm. (that's why it has to be a 2 stage procedure for me to expand the tissue that would be needed. I want to say an average (regular) reduction will get you about 2/2.5 (?) inches at mot. That was Not what I needed! I will be updating with more pics, shortly! I plan on finally getting my hair done -probably this month. I didn't want to get mine done (even though I could have.) I was more into working out, etc. No chemicals (color or permanent) until maybe the end of the year.
Congratulations on a successful procedure! Would love to see updated pics. (Btw - I think widows peaks are beautiful! Every time I see them, I find myself wishing I had one.
lol. I wish I loved them. I'm uploading some pics today. Disclaimer: My hair isn't combed/styled, but it is my natural hair "thrown" in a high ponytail. I just wanted to upload some progress pictures.
