My Sculpture Experience - Lower abdomen - From research to results!

WORTH IT
I’m starting up this journal since I’m in the process of booking consultations with local Sculpsure providers and would like to share my experience from very beginning of my Sculpsure journey. My primary interest is in reducing the fat (“pooch”) in my lower abdomen. See before pics posted.
A little history: I first learned about Sculpsure 2 years ago when consulting with a PS regarding another procedure - a Sculpture poster/ad just happened to be in sitting in the waiting room. The focus of the poster/ad was the lower abdomen, which happens to be the one area on my body I find the most stubborn when it comes to fat. Naturally this intrigued me and I jokingly mentioned back then (2 years ago) that this was definitely something I needed! As they say: “many a true word is spoken in jest”. Lol.My specs and various ramblings: I’m 5’ 5” and my weight fluctuates between 126 lbs to 131lbs. Right now I’m at my high end and I hope to lose a couple lbs. I don’t really consider myself to be overweight, but naturally I prefer being on the lighter end. However even with exercise (i.e. sit-ups, crunches, and swimming) I have to get well below 126 lbs in order for the pooch in my lower abdomen to completely disappear. I’ve been able to do this a few times in my life. For example: one year ago my weight went down to 122 lbs (for about 5 minutes) after basically starving myself for a week (lol); and yes my stomach was completely flat during those fleeting moments. Unfortunately it’s not only a challenge to get below 126 lbs and stay there, I’ve found when I do go below 126lbs my face gets very thin with hollowed cheeks. Let me also add that it doesn’t help being my age (62). Lol.Other ideas/research: I’ve also considered Cool Sculpting (another targeted fat therapy). However based on my research (via the internet and the Doctors Q&A here) Sculpsure appears to have fewer side effects and zero problems with unevenness (i.e. visible lumpiness, “shelving”) compared to Cool Sculpting. For this among other reasons I’ve decided that Sculpsure is the better option for me.Additional info: One of the reasons I didn’t proceed with the Sculpsure a couple years ago is because I had other concerns of which I also have reviews here on. This is good timing for me because being part of the Realfriends program here I may also have the opportunity to receive two complimentary Sculpture treatments in the near future. I’ll keep you posted if I do.I look forward with excitement to finding out if Sculpsure works for me. As mention above I’m in the process of booking consultations. I’ve already booked two consults and plan on booking one more. I’ll keep you posted on who, what, where and when. Lastly:If any of you have have experienced Sculpsure and have tips this would be greatly appreciated. I also just posted a question in the Doctor’s Q&A here on what kind of questions to ask during a Sculpsure consultation. I look forward to hearing from them as well as any of you that may have tips and advice to offer. To be continued. :-)I received this complimentary treatment through the RealFriends program.

Thanks for stopping by! I was on the fence also. I’ve just read about too many negative side effects with cool sculpting such as unevenness and even nerve damage. I’ve read that sculpsure has much fewer problems. I was also told Sculpsure has a “feathering” effect so you’re less likely to see unusual dips or “shelving”.

I will be following your journey as well. Like I said in my review, it's painful, but definitely tolerable. I hope to see some results in a month or so. Keep us posted.

Have you noticed any subtle changes since your procedure? I’m having it on July 18 Love hearing your feelings on it after 2 (?) months post procedure. Thx.

Honestly, at 2 months it seems like my results have plateaued. What I saw at 6 weeks is what I'm seeing at 8 weeks. I do hear it takes 12 weeks to see the full benefit. I had a small area, so only had 1 session. I feel it was worth it. Good luck!

Hi, How do you get on realfriends program? I would like to try this also.

Hi Carefree, you’ll find information about the RF program via the link copied below. Scroll down the bottom of the page to see the requirements and frequently asked questions. It’s a great program also providing opportunities for free products and treatments. There are certain requirements such as having a review, being active... and just being nice. Let me know if you’re interested I could nominate you if you’d like; or you can also nominate yourself. :-)

Fyi you do have to maintain a certain level of activity (i.e. posting comments, asking questions in the doctors Q&A, updating your reviews, etc.) to be considered for the program. Good luck. :-)

Hi, I just saw this post! Thank you very much. Yes if you could nominate me that would be great!

Yes agree! I'm finding the same in my research. Look fwd to your results!

I'm not sure. I went once for my belly, and have a second pre-purchased. I don't know if it did anything but it's hard to say for sure because I also lost about 10 pounds since then. But here's the thing, 1 treatment is only 25% average improvement, and I think that's hard to see. Also keep in mind the paddles don't cover that much area. I did 4 paddles on my belly, but to really cover it decently would require 8-12. So it really only seems best for very small problem areas. Not even medium sized problem areas. For reference I am 5'6" and only weigh 116#. So I'm not overweight and expecting this to change that. Just want rid of the belly fat and skin tightening. I am waiting until i lose 4 more pound and am at goal weight, then I will do my second sculpture and hold my weight even so I can see if it really does anything.

Thanks for stopping by! I appreciate hearing about your experience. Have you thought about starting up a review or treatment experience journal here and posting pics? What areas of your belly are you working on? You are right it would take more than four of the applicators paddles to cover the entire belly. I was told I would need four applicators for my lower abdomen; and that was not a good idea to spread them out too much as you may decrease of the overall effect.

I’m also aware the results can be subtle. Not to mention not everyone is a good candidate for this procedure. At 5’ 6” and 116 pounds I imagine you wouldn’t have much belly fat at all. Sometimes loose skin or lax muscles can be mistaken for fat. And Sculpsure won’t help either of those from what I’ve read. For loose skin and lax muscle a TT may be a better option. Just curious how many weeks ago did you have your treatment? I’ve read it can take up to 12 weeks to see the results. I’ve also read that a minimum of two treatments is usually needed to see any noticeable difference. Good luck! :-)

I’m exactly the same fossil age as you. Lol. I’m hoping that Sculpsure will be advantageous in my bra line!!
April 14, 2018
Believe it or not I have a lot of fat on my belly. Large handfuls. Yes there is skin there too but still a lot of fat. Also a lot of places are reporting people do get skin tightening with sculpsure. I did mine 4 or 5 months ago.
User Avatar
April 16, 2018
OK I’ll believe you, although it would help if you started up review and posted some pics. LOL. All kidding aside I’ve also seen some reports of skin tightening. Sculpsure is not the FDA approved for skin tightening though. And I suspect with a certain amount of fat lost some people’s skin would naturally tighten up. I know my abdomen tightens up when I lose weight. The answers regarding skin tightening in the doctors Q&A are also a little mixed:

https://www.realself.com/question/chicago-il-sculpsure-work-tighten-skin

That aside I certainly wouldn’t mind if it tightened up my skin a little when I get the treatment. Did you get one or two treatments? What areas (i.e. upper, lower abdomen, or both) and how many applicators were applied to each area? If you did less than two treatments or had only four applicators spread out through out both upper and lower abdomen... I would suspect that could the reason you may not have seen the results you wanted. And of course not everyone is a good candidate for sculpture. Talk later. :-)

To Add: I have read the biggest disappointment with sculpsure is in the lack of result, perhaps sometimes due to an unrealistic expectation level. To share us little story with you: prior to getting my facelift I had skin tightening treatments which were not exactly satisfactory. I realized what was really needed (for my case) was a 10K facelift. Lol. So given my prior experience with other procedures I’m not expecting miracles with Sculpsure, especially given the ease of the treatment and relatively low-cost compared to a tummy tuck. The good thing is I’ve told I am a good candidate for this treatment. So I figure it’s worth a shot. I’ll keep you and everyone posted. :-)
April 26, 2018
I do SculpSure and do love it. Not everyone is a candidate. Needs to be subcutaneous punchable fat. Not visceral fat which is behind the muscle and around the organs. That is not treatable. With your hight and weight I seriously doubt you will need 8-12 panels to treat your abdomen. That’s a VERY large person. The most I have treated on an abdomen for 1 treatment is 4 panels on the lower portion ( below umbilicus) and 4 panels above. Unless they were quoting you for 2-3 treatments. We do 1 treatment 2nd treatment complimentary. If you bu
April 26, 2018
Oops. Sent too soon. If you buy 8 you will get 8 free a total of 16 panels. 4 panels does cover a decent amount of an area. If you buy 6 panels then 6 are free. Maybe that’s where the 12 panels are being quoted. This wasn’t clear to me. Hope this makes sense. Best of luck to you.
May 12, 2018
I guess that's where I take issue, with the "relatively low-cost... compared to a tummy tuck." I think what people need to realize is that treatment with non-surgical procedures like sculpsure is not any less expensive than surgery. One person who had some pretty good results spent $12,000 on her belly alone. It sounds inexpensive because it's "only $1000", but 4 paddles doesn't cover very much area, and you have to do it several times in each area. So the advantage for most people is really to avoid surgery and a scar. In some cases you can get a better result, but in other cases surgery would give a better result. As you said, people should have realistic expectations.
May 12, 2018
The reason I haven't posted photos is because they wouldn't be useful. After the sculpsure I lost 15 pounds of fat and gained 5 pounds of muscle. I see a lot of other people posting about procedures like Sculpsure and it is clear they have lost weight besides the sculpsure. So their photos are misleading.

Hi gofmiwok, I realize pics can be deceiving. That’s why I posted two sets of befores. You can also qualify your pics by explaining your weight loss. And let us be the judge of whether they are useful or not… :-)

Btw one of the interesting things I’ve read from people that have gained weight after sculpsure... is that even with their weight gain the fat did not return in the areas they had treated. Bottom line: pics are always interesting to look at....

To add: you’re not the first person I’ve read about that has lost weight following sculpture treatment. One interesting I’ve read is that having less fat cells on your body can reduce your appetite. After all you have fewer fat cells screaming for calories. So it’s not unrealistic to speculate that the sculpsure treatment may have helped with the overall weight loss.
May 15, 2018
That's not really a surprise. A lot of people say "after spending thousands of dollars, you can bet I'm going to diet too to make sure I lose weight!" And only those who are motivated to look better do sculpsure to begin with. As far as less fat cells, frankly unless you do a lot more of your body than 4 paddles, it would be hard to imagine that affecting how many calories your body needs. Regardless, in my case I had started losing prior to the sculpsure, then continued the same diet and lost at the same rate afterward.

gofmiwok, hey congrats on the weight-loss! I’m hoping the sculpsure treatments will motivate me to lose a few lbs. I’ve been trying for the last several months, but unfortunately every day ends up being like groundhogs day... with the consumption of too many calories by the end of each day. Lol.

Have you gone through with your second session? I read what you wrote about the area with the paddle coverage! Hmmm. So typically the areas warrant more paddles to really reap the benefits. I’m going on July 18. My profile...5’10 and 127 lbs. I’m just hoping for the flanks to shrink up a little. Just enough so I don’t have “over hang” lol, in my jeans.

Aside from reading articles, seeing at videos online and looking at other member’s reviews I also posted a couple questions in the doctors Q&A section on Sculpsure and wanted to share these with you. See links below. One thing to know is when you post a question in the Doctors Q&A be sure to check back periodically to see if another doctor has responded.

Question one: What questions should I ask during a SculpSure consultation?

https://www.realself.com/quest...

Question two: How do you determine treatment area and/or pricing?

https://www.realself.com/quest...

So far I’ve had one consultation. I have another one scheduled for April 16. I plan on posting all the details about my consults in another update after I finished all my consults.

I’ve also posted another set of before pics for variation on the truth of the matter. And I think it always makes an update more interesting when you post a pic. Imo pics (both before and Afters) very rarely tell the whole truth. Our bodies fluctuate from day today even from hour to hour. Not to mention we all know that after a full meal the stomach is going to protrude more than when it’s on empty stomach. Lol. That’s all for now. :-)

My “pre-consultation weeding out” process.

User Avatar

It’s taking me a little while to get things going for reasons which I don’t really need to discuss here. However I thought I’d go ahead and discuss my “pre-consultation weeding out” process. Before booking actual consultations I called several Sculpsure provider’s in my area (all found via the “Find a Doctor” search at realself); and I asked if I could simply stop by and look at there before/after’s pics (over the counter so to speak) prior to booking a consultation. Of course I realize you can also check out before/after’s online. However one thing I’ve observed is that a number of SculpSure providers do not have many (if any) before/after pics or many reviews available online yet. Perhaps because the procedure is fairly new.

According to my research Sculpture was first fda approved about 3 years ago; and some areas of the body have only been FDA approved within the last year. So I was looking for providers that have been practicing for minimum of two+ years with at least 3 to 4 before/after pics (from their own portfolios) of the lower abs (my area of concern). Questions I asked over the phone before booking consultations: how long has the sculpsure laser device been in your office? And how many before/after pics do you have to show me of the abdomen? And who is actually doing the procedure?
-
-
-
One thing to be aware of: even if you just pick a board certified PS as the provider the PS may not be the one doing the the procedure. And this was the case with all the PS offices I called. So (imo) it is important to ask who will be doing the SculpSure treatment and how much experience they have. I was told by one practice told me that even though the PS did not do the procedure th PS checked the machine prior to the procedure being performed.
-
-
-
Most of the places I contacted were very cooperative about letting me look at the bef/afters (prior to an actual consult) and said I could stop by anytime. I loved the expediency of this process and the fact that I didn’t have to fill out forms and reveal all my personal info at this stage. There were some that told me they didn’t really have that many before/after pics since they hadn’t been doing it all that long. That was good info get over the phone; and these we’re providers that were automatically weeded out.
-
-
-
Through this process of elimination I found two Sculpsure providers in my area that I felt had enough experience under the belt for my comfort level. And I booked consultations with them after reviewing there before/after pics. Both of them gave great consultations; they took the time to carefully explain the procedure to me. They also showed me the equipment. And one of them even placed the applicators onto my lower abdomen to see how they fit. Btw, this is not to say there are only two providers in my area that I think are qualified. After all I didn’t contact every single SculpSure provider in my area. I will reveal who both of these providers are (both whom I would highly recommend) once my first treatment is scheduled. In the meantime I hope the process I’ve explained above is helpful. I’ve actually used it for other procedures as well. More info to come. :-)

Thank you so much for all of the information you provided for anyone interested in SculpSure. You have brought to my attention some additional questions to ask my Sculptsure provider when I go for my initial consultation. I was under the assumption that we (RealFriends) can only use the doctor’s that were sent to us? I’m assuming that my doctor is qualified, after reading his credentials. I’m meeting him this Thursday, and I’m quite excited about my consultation. I’ll write a review, and share my experience.

Hi ransvr, You’re most welcome. And thanks for your nice comments! I’m glad my info has been helpful. You are correct we have to go to a provider that’s on the list. I was sent a list of three providers. To my surprise these two providers happened to be on the list. Since they offered free consultations I had actually consulted with them a while ago. I look forward to seeing your review and following your progress. Have you decided what area you plan on treating?
