CoolSculpting Gone Wrong

Hi I need advice on what to do to solve my CoolSculpting problem. In Oct 2016 I had my first procedure on my stomach. I had four areas done on my stomach. The following week I had my flanks and hips done. At that time I reported hardness in my stomach area and was told it was nothing to worry about. I called in December and in January of this year I contacted the DR because all of my treated areas showed signs of hardness, itching and soreness. At that time I was advised to do another treatment on my stomach because it would reduce the hardness. Needless to say that didn't happen. I now have Paradoxical Hyperplasia in all areas that were CoolScuplted. You can see the outline of the paddles and raised hard fat on all areas treated. Currently I am too upset to add photos to this review.
My questions to the group are has anyone had this reaction and what did you do to solve it? Any information or advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I've heard that this can happen sometimes and I'm pissed that my PS didn't mention this as one of the risks of the treatment. I had it done 6 months ago and just really didn't see any results. Several doctors on here have said that really the only solution for hyperplasia post coolsculpting is to get Lipo or an abdominoplasty if it's super bad. I'm sure a little Lipo will do the trick, thats what I think I'm going to do. Lipo is really no big deal and the results are awesome. I had a little done under my chin and loved it.

PAH is a one of the more rare side effects of CoolSculpting. It should have been on your consent. It is fixable with lipo. The dr that treated you should be able to diagnose you with PAH and contact Zeltiq to report it, submit all your records to see if Zeltiq will pay for the lipo to fix it. If the dr is resistant, get a consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who is familiar with CoolSculpting about PAH.

Thank you for your advise. The doctor didn't contact the company. I had to do it. They are suppose to received my records and pictures today from the doctor. I asked for copies of my pictures two weeks ago and I haven't received them. Hopefully I can get those today.

isnt it llike one in a million for the hyperplasia?? did you have the new applicators?? any thing they think why you had that effect like any medial issue or other factor that might have contributed??

I had a very similar experience, I had my abdomen area treated, we used 2 double applicators at the bottom of my abdomen and 2 small applicators right above that. had my first treatment done March 2017, my treated areas almost doubled in size. The facility who treated me offered a 2nd treatment for free to ensure that they did everything possible for me. I had my 2nd treatment exactly a year later and yesterday i went to take my 3 month post op picture and compared the photos. The 2nd treatment did not made any corrections and my treated areas are even more noticeable than before. This time around I grew so large that i developed stretchmarks. My stomach has never been this large and I have never been pregnant. I am waiting for the printed photos so that I can submit them to Allegan, If you don't mind, can you please share your before and after pictures? I am very interested in seeing how your results compare to mine. I can share mine as soon as I get the photos back from my Dr.

Hi I don't have my pictures on my computer. I'll tell you that my stomach grew so big that when I sat down I could cross my arm and sit them on top of my stomach. I was advised that the only solution was to get a TT with MR and Lipo. Needless to say this was not what I wanted. Luckily I found a PS. who had a lot of experience and compassion. I have to undergo a Lipo revision. The healing has taken longer because of the situation. Looking back I wish I had gone to him and done Lipo instead of Cool Sculpting. If you are able to get this fixed make sure you find a good PS. Dr. Myla Bennett has a lot of good Facebook and YouTube videos you should watch before picking a PS. Hopefully this was helpful.

Thank you so much. I know it's been a year since our last conversation, but finally I was able to get some resolution. The treating facility opened a case with Allergan and I have been approved by the insurance to get Liposuction done in order to correct the PAH, free of cost. I have my consult with the PS tomorrow and God willing the process will be done and over-with soon.

what is your backround i heard the chance of this is more likely in native american for some reason?
June 23, 2018
I'm African American, however I have a feeling it has to do more with hormone levels in the body. I heard it happens more with men than women. I've done a lot of research and I noticed the areas grew more when I was on hormone replacement therapy. They don't ask you about medication or check your bloodwork before you do the procedure. Did you experience any stomach issues?

I too had the same thing it's awful but of course when I went back she wanted more money and to do more treatments and me left with lumps everywhere she suck my skin please let me know how to correct this so discouraging when you have spent so much money on this and the outcome was so disappointing

Hi I'm sorry to hear that you are going through this. You should open a case with the company. I had revision Lipo last week and I am finally to a point where I am pleased with the results. I was very lucky to find a caring and highly skilled PS. I've been working on fixing this for over a year and I still have at least another year of healing.

Julie I just read the advice the Doctors gave you. I had to be proactive and force my DR to admit I had a problem. Tell her you want her to call the company and file a complaint. I did that and my doctor didn't do that. (Notice I didn't say plastic surgeon. Big mistake lesson learned the hard way. ) I called the company myself and filed the complaint.
