10 Weeks PO
I’ve been meaning to post an update but unfortunately with the Holidays and just life in general I haven’t gotten around to it. Thank you for everyone checking in! Well I am back to exercising. I am able to run like I did before, I am doing very light core work. I can do legs, arms etc. no problem. I am pretty much back to normal 100% with the exception of still finding myself getting some pain when lifting something heavy. Not horrible but noticeable pain.
Before the surgery I was 116 lbs, and I find that now I can easily gain 5lbs in the course of a day from bloating. I am now consistently about 117-118 lbs however I can go up to 121-122 and be right back down to normal in the morning. It’s really strange and not something I had prior to surgery.
I still notice that my swelling is mainly in my lower stomach and mainly around my incision line specifically. I also still have no feeling there and don’t expect to ever again lol. But it’s fine bc I had zero feeling in all that loose skin anyways!
My incisions have healed completely and my vertical incision below the belly button has actually widened due to tension and all that, but at the end of the day anything is better than where I stared so It doesn’t bother me at all. My upper incision looks the same width as it was immediately after surgery as well as the horizontal one below the belly button.
Overall I feel good and can’t wait to start being able to really do core exercises!

5 Weeks Post Op
I made it to five weeks post op! I had my follow up on Monday the 11th and my doctor was incredibly pleased with my progress. He said my incisions are looking absolutely great and over all I’m doing better than expected. He said I still have lots of swelling above the belly button where my scar was, as well as below the belly button which is to be expected. He said it could be months before that resolves fully.
As far as exercising, I am only allowed to walk, which I’ve done a few times for about 30-40 mins. I feel like I’m accomplishing nothing when I do this though so it feels like a chore to me now. Once I hit the 8 week mark I will be allowed to slowly start doing some very light cardio as well as core stabilizing exercises such as a small plank, no actual core workouts. I can’t wait to hit the 8 week mark! Dying to start actually working out again. It keeps my energy, mood, and appetite in check. My appetite is SLOWLY coming back down but it’s still far above what I was pre surgery. So strange. Not to mention I’m STILL craving straight carbs which I never really cared for before surgery. But I know it’s temporary and will return to normal once I can start exercising again.
I have the majority of my energy back but it’s still difficult doing pre surgery things such as lifting up my babies, carrying laundry baskets downstairs and vacuuming. I think my thyroid is actually more to blame than anything though(I have Hashimoto’s which is an immune system involved under active thyroid). But again, these things will get better with time. For the time being I’m trying to stay busy by doing housework and organizing and Christmas shopping and wrapping! Hope everyone else is doing well :)

First time putting on real clothes!
I’m really liking it so far. What a difference!! Never thought I’d ever wear nothing form fitting again.
