Post-Op day 5
I had my follow up visit today and had my drains removed, Wow what a difference that made. I feel so much more self sufficient. It didn't hurt; just felt a pinch on both sides of my hips. My PS and his staff (Meay, Liz and Karen) have been absolutely amazing. Their level of care and attention has made my experience that much more worthwhile. During my appointment Dr. Hoffman removed the bandages and I finally got to see my new tummy. I was so happy and gitty from NOT seeing any stretch marks....ahhh, finally. The tummy I've always wanted (back) but have not had in 13 years. I didn't really get a clear view of my belly button as it was very bloody. I was instructed to gently clean it with a wash cloth when I shower. No ointments No ANYTHING on my incision until my next appointment. Dr. Hoffman did advise to take it easy the next few days as swelling tends to happen when drains are removed. Overall, I left my appt happy and gratified. :) I've cut my pain meds pretty low...down to 2 vicodin and 1 valium a day. I've been drinking water like there's no tomorrow. I think that has helped tremendously in my recovery. Lastly, my diet has been "ok" I've been trying to eat healthy but gave in to 4 chocolate chip cookies today. You win some…you lose some...lol.
I'll post pictures soon...just waiting for my belly button to clear up.

Post-Op day 3
Feeling better today. I have cut down my med dosages in half. i am able to move around more. Hubby has been doing laundry and I have been folding it. Other than that I've been lounging around watching TV or reading. I had an egg with juice and fruit for breakfast. fruit and or oatmeal for lunch and brown rice and veggies for dinner. My drains are now a much lighter color...maybe a lighter brown. My follow up is on Wed and I can't wait to see what my new tummy looks like. The only problems I have experienced is my 10 month old wanting me to hold her and unfortunately I am unable to. I have felt sharp pains to my sides when moving up or down a little too quickly. My appetite is back as well I feel hungry as usual. I am unstill undecided on the "was it worth it" category because I want to wait to see the results.

Post-Op day 1
I woke up in the recovery room with a lot of pain and very nauseous. It took everything inside of me to not throw up because I knew it would be the worst pain of my life. I always get sick with any type of narcotic pain medicine. This was something that I emphasized to my PS, nurse and anesthesiologist so they gave me more some anti-nausea medication...wish I would have had more to start with. Car ride home was rough as any movement made me sick. Once home, I went right to bed. I took my next dosage of medication a few hours later which consisted of (Vicodin-Pain relief, Cephalexin-Antibiotic, Promethazine-Antinausea and Diazepam-Muscle relxer). I pretty much stayed in bed all day and only got up to use the bathroom. I had chicken broth and a little bit of french bread. Getting in and out of bed was NO fun at all.
