I have read (stalked ? ;) so many reviews that other people have posted for various procedures so I thought I'd give back a little and share mine, even though it's not a big deal to get lip filler, maybe it will help someone.

I go tomorrow to get Juvederm in my lips. I have never had much of an upper lip and as I got older it seems to be disappearing altogether! And the distance between my lip and nose is too long, and seems to be growing! After finding out about Lip Lifts here on RS I hope to have that procedure done once I am living back in the Lower 48 (there are only a few PS here in Alaska and none that specialize in that.)

But for NOW I am going to try Juvederm Ultra Plus in my lips, and see if that helps bring back some plumpness. I am going to ask him about filler for my nasiolabial (parentheses) lines for a future date, but for now just going to focus on my lips! They quoted me 650 for regular Juvaderm and 800 for the Ultra which is supposed to last longer. I think I will go that route unless the doc recommends the other.

Will post an update after the procedure. :)

Didn't Hurt as Much as I Was Expecting!

Had my Juvederm today! Dr. Jensen and his staff were so nice. He prepped me for what to expect and we discussed what I was looking for. He ended up using .5 cc of Juvederm Ultra XC in my upper lip, and just .1 cc in my lower lip to fill in an asymmetry. My eyes watered a bit but it wasn't bad. (Did not use numbing cream). He used the cannula method. I used arnica right away and am having some swelling but so far so good. I feel like a duck right now lol. My lip feels really firm, and a little achy, but not any real pain.

I go back in a couple of weeks for a touch up if needed. He said to expect around a 25% reduction in what I have now, due to the swelling subsiding. Included lots of pics-- hope this helps others know sort of what they might expect on the day of the treatment.

They look great! I will say that you're one tough cookie. Lol I had numbing cream and still felt it at first. Pain is not my friend but for nicer lips, I'll entertain it for company now and then. Congrats!

Thanks :) ! I think I had worked it up to be really really bad... One reviewer said she passed out so I was like okay this is going to hurt. And it did hurt, but completely bearable. It's definitely worth it if I have an upper lip again!

I hadn't planned on mine. I went in for a slight double chin fix, Kybella and botox on my 11s between my brows from squinting. I was crazy stressed on the Kybella hurting but it was nothing compared to the sting on my lips. Some women say Kybella was horribly painful. I think it depends on person injecting it and how much fat is there. I only needed 1 vile. I got home and slept for 6 yrs. My hubby says it was the stress that I put on myself for no reason. Nice thing is Kybella is a forever fix. The lips aren't but, now just as you, I know what to expect. I believe that beauty is within and we're created in Gods image. I told my doctor, Satan been messing with my flesh! lol

Haha I love that. And I agree. But I told him "Not today, Satan, not TODAY." Today I'm doing something for me :)
I had never heard of Kybella but looked it up just now. Are you happy with your results?

You look great! The numbing cream helps immensely. I had only minimal pain, if even that. The numbing cream sat on my face for 20 minutes and was not removed until after the injections were given. It seems it should be part of your treatment, to make you more comfortable. I wonder why the doctor did not use it, but then I did not have Juvederm in my lips, so perhaps there is a good reason.

Thank you! I'm not sure why the Doc didn't offer it, but to be honest, he was so smooth in injecting it, it really was no big deal. He has a very gentle touch! I think my eyes watered a smidge and that was it!

Oh, i was given an ice compress the first time, and used it for about 5-7 minutes before the injections. But the second time (when I went in for my lower lip to finish off the vial) I told them I didn't need it.

I'm 3 weeks in and so far its doing good. It takes around 6 weeks to 2 months to really see full effect. I'm 55yrs old so curious to see if I'm left with any wrinkly saggy skin.

Was really duckfaced last night and even a little this morning, but iced it for a while and was able to go to work. I love the results so far! I'm happy there hasn't been any bruising!
