Xanthelasma Sorcerer
I had some yellow discolorations around my eye removed. They had been plaguing me with anxiety and depression, and I had such absolutely hopeless feelings and found myself wanting to socially isolate in shame. It sounds rather unremarkable, if not emotionally outsized to the circumstances, but after researching further on the condition, I found that psychological distress is a very classic symptom of the condition. After going to three fully competent dermatologists, none of whom was able to treat or really have all the information I needed, I collected a set of referrals for oculofacial surgeons. I had 3 consultations from these referrals. One told me I'd need skin grafts and told me I'd have no skin left if they removed them, the second, who told me they could remove them easily, sought to charge an inordinate amount of money, and provided no context or further information about the condition or the procedure, and the third, Dr. Lattman immediately talked through the condition, provided all of the information on the procedure, affirmed my emotional symptoms, and quoted me fairly. She spoke confidently and professionally, offered insights and reassurance, and presented an overall positive outlook on this thing that had been a dark cloud over me for a year. Her staff were kind and supportive. On the day of the procedure, she was precise, confident, and left time to discuss all my followup questions. My procedure was done in the office, and my incisions were clean and small and the care very minimal. Her nurse met me a week later to remove the stitches - a day after Thanksgiving she came in to do this. I couldn't be more ecstatic with the results. Dr. Lattman did say that xanthelasma can come back or re-emerge, but that we can address it when/if it does. I feel like I have a guardian angel guiding me through what would otherwise have consumed years and years of my life, keeping me from avoiding social gatherings, feeling worthy of a spotlight, or just even a cute dress. Dr. Lattman is such good energy, caring, and meticulous. So grateful!!!
