I can't say enough good things about Dr. Mayer and his staff.
First and foremost, you should know that his team has specialists to work with insurance companies to ensure that your surgery gets covered properly. If you're worried about getting your insurance company to do what they're supposed to do, his team will handle that for you and they're great at it!
I love his staff. They're wonderful people and I always felt welcome and cared for. They're very considerate, patient, and empathetic.
As for Dr. Mayer himself, I was initially reticent to choose him due to his age, but once I saw his results and spoke to him personally, all concerns went away. While he's a busy man and can seem like he's moving very quickly with preliminary consultations, you need to remember that he's been doing this for over 40 years; I promise, once you get to the actual appointments, he's patient and takes his time.
His custom, proprietary hair surgery method is a borderline miracle, and his style of facial feminization is what I wanted: natural-looking. I didn't want to be artificially made "hotter," I wanted to look like "me," and he did exactly that.
I know that he technically doesn't do a couple of specific forms of facial feminization that I've seen discussed on Reddit, but unless you're getting extremely deep into the research yourself and very particular about what you're looking for, you can't argue with his results. Between my subtle and attractive facial features and a new hairline that I thought would be impossible, I can honestly say that Dr. Mayer probably saved this trans woman's life.
