I am 74 years old, a rather late-blooming MTF trans person, and had a full menu of facial feminization procedures

more pix

Since no two photos of me seem to look alike -- especially the selfies I take! -- here are a couple more. For me, the most important outcome from FFS is getting farther away from looking like a member of the wrong gender. Whatever anyone thinks of my looks, I feel that I got what I wanted.

Yessssss honey you look amazing
Aw, thanks!
Thanks for your update, you look great!
Thank you, Diana.
Thanks for sharing! I can see why this is a major confidence booster. You do look great! I love your hair. Can your share what was done and the cost?
Thank you, Carol (?). My selfies probably don't show them all clearly (more "before" shots might help, but eww!), but the procedures included forehead recontouring, blepharoplasty, a little nose tweak, a bit of lip lift, a neck lift and a tracheal shave. I think you would need to consult with Dr. Spiegel's office about costs.
You look GREAT. I am 67 and contemplating transition. I thought I was too old to do this but looking at your great results at 74 years old gives me hope and courage. I have already had my testes removed via bilateral inguinal orchiectomy so at least I am no longer under the influence of testosterone.
I imagine that most people in our age range grew up believing, as I did, that we couldn't do anything about how we felt, and just had to shut up and struggle through. Now it can be difficult to believe what is really possible, but it IS. Congratulations on getting rid of testosterone -- it never did the likes of us any favors!
I agree totally. This was why I did nothing about it until two years ago. So so wish I had done it when I was in my teens. Also its not easy carrying this around inside us all these years, thinking we were too late.

More from a late bloomer

I understand that people would like to see photos. I thought it would seem vain of me to post any, after saying that friends had been very complimentary, but I guess it may help people who are seriously thinking about FFS to see as many outcomes as they can, so I offer these for that purpose.

You actually look a lot better than many 74's. I am 71 and still going. Good luck on where it made take you. Sincerely, Tommy
Thanks, Tommy. Good luck on wherever you're going, too!
Looking good. As long as what you do brings you happiness. It's never too late. You look great!!
Thank you, Nancy. I agree: it's never too late.
Thanks, Nancy. I agree: it's never too late.
Stunning! I hope to look as lovely as you when I'm 74! Great job!
Thank you! I hope that people are being as kind to you when you're 74!

An Expert Who Really Cares

I am 74 years old, a rather late-blooming MTF trans person, and had a full menu of facial feminization procedures performed by Dr. Spiegel just last year. First of all, I can't say enough good things about the staff at The Spiegel Center, from the receptionist on up to Dr. Spiegel himself, who are all exceptionally kind, accepting and caring. These are people who are there to help you. As for the outcome of the work done on me, I can best quote the word I hear most often from my friends, old and new: "beautiful." My own word would be "incredible," given how I looked before. Don't imagine that "cosmetic" surgery is just about ego: this has given me an enormous boost in confidence as I move forward in my belated transition. I most earnestly recommend Dr. Spiegel to anyone wanting to be their best self.

Please post pics of your before and after beautiful self!
I don't claim to be beautiful: I think I just have kind friends! But I think I do look a lot better; I guess I'd better post something, and hope that it encourages people who might want to take this step.
Congrtats on your surgery and transition. You story will help all that follow in our footprints. Thanks for posting your recommendation and story here.....
Thanks, Brianna. I hope your own journey goes well!
That's a pretty silly comment. I could post any photos and claim that they were me. I have hesitated to post any because it seems vain. But hoping that it will help anyone who is serious and sincere, I am going to.
