Bad Decision
I regret my decision to have facial feminization surgery with Dr Spiegel. I found out later it’s standard for FFS doctors to take X-rays but Spiegel didn’t take any X-rays and didn’t have X-ray equipment it would probably minimize his profit margin, because of the lacking technology I have nerve damage around my mouth leaving me with facial palsy. I feel more dysphoric then before surgery his feminization is very minimal and the palsy is very obvious one side of my mouth doesn’t move and the lower lip hangs down it looks like I had a stroke. After surgery he blew me off and kept telling me it’s healing even after 9 months, I am over one year out and I still can’t move my mouth properly. I found this doctor unauthentic and I regret my decision.

I had two major FFS surgeries with Dr. Spiegel back in 2006. No, he didn't use x-rays, nor do I think he was terribly well-prepared for my surgeries. The first one was out and out botched... a real mess, and the second one did improve some of the problems, but he was less than forthcoming about certain procedures he claimed he did (which he absolutely didn't do) and did a poor job on my nose which has left me with a large amount of scar tissue. I think he might be an effective provider if someone needs extremely minor work done on their face, but I regret going to him... he was absolutely not the right surgeon for what I needed.
