56 Years Old, in the Middle of Covid 19 Pandemic, 9 Procedures in One Day!

Life's an adventure, right? Well, doing major surgery in the middle of a pandemic sure is.

I decided to medically transition after a mental breakdown coupled with suicidal tendencies. Originally I wasn't meant to have Dr. Spiegel as my first surgeon. I had been scheduled to have SRS in early July. That got cancelled... postponed. In general, I've always liked to have a Plan B. I'd been researching Facial Feminization Surgeons. I looked at many... in Spain, Korea, Brazil... all over the USA. My health insurance weighed heavily in my final decision to go with Dr. Spiegel (I have Starbucks Supplemental). There are many fine surgeons, but if I can pass along one bit of advice to you it is this... when dealing with your face only choose a plastic surgeon that specializes in 'Facial' plastic surgery. Also make sure they are Board Certified. Seems like common sense. Dr. Spiegel is among the very best.

So I had 9 surgeries in one day. I was Dr. Spiegel's only patient that day. He worked on me for 8 hours straight. I do hope he got lunch and pee breaks... His surgical team was professional and very nice to me. I remember thinking that the anesthesiologist was cute. I don't remember anything else... I woke up in the hotel. It had been strongly recommended to me to hire a private nurse to take care of me for the first few days after surgery. My Care Coordinator Carole asked me if I 'saw her' looking in the mirror. All I saw was bruising and swelling and bandages. Now many months later yes, Carole. I see her.

Transitioning later in life, for me, was an extremely hard decision. But I'm just days away from my 3 year anniversary on HRT. The future looks bright for me.

Would I recommend Dr. Spiegel for FFS? Yes I would.
