FANTASTIC Experience
I'm one week out from fat harvesting, full facial transfer, and reunivion to my lower cheeks, neck, and under chin. I'm healing well, and watching the progress as I move towards healing is exciting. I can tell that the outcome will be exactly what was needed to correct some minor concerns that have to do with slowing down signs of aging. I'm a 37-year-old woman and like to try to get ahead of problems, in general, before they become too big of an issue.
I'd like to talk about not only the quality of work from Dr. Kornstein but my experience with him as a physician. I've undergone 3 rounds of plastic surgery with 3 different surgeons and met with nearly a dozen in the last 5 years. I consider myself lucky as I've always had positive experiences with my surgeons and their teams, and I've always gotten the results I am looking for. That said, I am extremely suspicious of the plastic surgery industry and interview surgeons with a lot of initial skepticism. Everyone wants to sell their product and claims to be the best, and to me, the industry feels like a meat market.
This is why I feel grateful to have had such exceptional care from Dr. Kornstein. Our consultation wasn't a one-and-done. He took the time to show me the appropriate samples of his work and answer all of my questions. He also encouraged me to come to the office so we could go over more details and I never once felt spoken over or down to. I also never felt pushed to immediately put down a deposit. He was available until I decided to make the appointment several months later.
The morning of the surgery was a bit of a mess. I had the wrong address for the surgery center, and whether that was my error or an error in communication with reception, I had to drive nearly an hour and a half in another direction which was stressful for me, but also left an entire surgical staff sitting around waiting. I was deeply embarrassed when I arrived at the hospital, but everyone was so kind and relaxed, including Dr. Kornstein.
One other hiccup that morning had to do with the anesthesiologist. The payment is given to her separately. The problem is that since she is paid by the hour, there is no way to know how much you will owe her ahead of time. This leaves you with the option of bringing in a large wad of cash, a blank cheque, or needing to make an electronic payment while waking up on the operating table. I do not want to overshadow an otherwise fabulous experience with this story, so I'll spare the details, but I do recommend preparing to have the person picking you up to deal with payment. It's such a foggy, vulnerable experience waking up from surgery, and money should never be the first thing you are forced to focus on. A suggestion for the team is to have the maximum possible amount charged electronically and then to have the unused portion returned after the surgery. Liability could be covered by having the patient sign a printed invoice on their way out the door.
Back to Dr. Kornstein. This is a surgeon with a skillful touch who truly understands the nuances that make up a beautiful face. He could easily set up an Instagram account and a Manhattan office doing strictly fillers, and he wouldn't be able to keep up with business. Instead, he is focused on his craft; facial fat transfer that improves not only the aesthetics of the face but the health of the tissue and bones. The process is painstaking, and the results are permanent. No twenty-minute med-spa rush job with clients coming for touch-ups every 12 months. I greatly respect anyone who dedicates themself to their craft like this.
Thanks, Dr. Kornstein. You'll be my first choice for any future procedures.
