Horrible Facelift with Complications

ORIGINAL POST

HORRIBLE FACELIFT with Unexpected Side Effects.

I naively had a facelift per Dr. Alexander in December of 2020, and placed my entire trust in delivering the Golden Ratio facelift and appear younger as well as a refreshed version of myself. Instead what I received were HORRIBLE results. I developed malar bags under my eyes, as well as cheek droop/buccal fat pad displacement, deep nasolabial folds, (as previous the surgery.) along with ensuing eye issues shortly after surgery. I had made Dr. Alexander aware of the postoperative issues to which he then asked that I wait until 1 year for full results. After a year I was asked to take a day off of work to make an in office skin only correction, only to be sent home to await and follow up email demanding almost $10,000 to correct his undercorrection at addressing areas of improvement. I then proceeded to work hard and save the amount and messaged Melissa to consult, ONLY to have the price jacked up to almost $15,000 to correct his iniital surgical mistakes. NO ONE goes into any SURGERY wishing for a REVISION. My life is altered in more ways than I could have ever imagined. I will not be dismissed, nor intimidated any longer by Dr Alexander who has today sent my a letter of discharge now that I am not of any financial gain for him nor his office. I have done Morpheous 8 as well as other non surgical procedures to salvage and improve my HORRIBLE facelift, to no avail, as well and ongoing ocular treatment expenses. I will be calling the California Medical Board to check in to his record and proceed accordingly after reviewing my medical records. I did consult today with 1 plastic surgeon who confirmed surgery was subpar and failed to correct specified areas of concern, along with possible scar tissue or foreign object/material that may be causing the malar bag edema. I will continue to consult a few more surgeons in an effort to look and feel human again and forced to pay I am sure a much higher price $$$ for Dr.Alexander's lack of surgical skills and eye for aesthetic symmetry and results. I have lost myself these last 3 years and have suffered in every aspect of my life since December of 2020. How I wish I could turn back time and have skipped this surgeon altogether. I will have to weigh all my options and make my most informed decision going forward and regain my sense of self and health.

I left my computer open to this review, just saw notification. It seems my family member made the comment above. Love you, we will get through this inshallah.

I'm confused. Are these photos before or after surgery? From comments, I assume they are after pics, but how can anyone evaluate your comments without a before pic and knowing the details of 'what' you paid to have done?? Sometimes, people don't have the budget to have done what a physician recommends, so it is possible to have poor results owing to 'cutting corners'. By simply looking at your phots, clearly something was left 'under done' or 'undone'. Please provide more detail so we can understand the dynamics.

Also, realself needs to allow negative reviews, as well as positive reviews, if they want to maintain any credibility about their patient reviews.

Trust that I am more confused. These pics are current post op for what we agreed upon was a Quicklift (mini FL.), and was then confirmed to be a deep plane facelift per Dr. Alexander. I developed malar bags almost after the surgery and was told it must be genetic, I pointed out the buccal fat displacement and the nasolabial folds, and felt dismissed, unheard, (told my issues were basically genetic?!?) and told to wait on full results a year. I will try to look for pre op pic to upload. More than the failed FL, is the relentless ocular issues since the surgery.

I continue to be gaslit, threatened, and intimidated by Dr.Alexander at his direction through his coordinator Melissa informing me that I am disparaging his work seemingly bullying me into submission once again in hopes that I will simply go away and live with this hideous facelift. PICTURES DO NOT LIE. In March of 2020 I did ask his then coordinator Julie if Dr. Alexander had ever been disciplined or had any complaint by any patient or filing with the California Medical Board, and was told he had never had any complaints. When in fact, I called the California Medical Board on 01/16/2024 and it was revealed that Dr. Alexander is currently on Probation for Gross Medical Negligence for performing a surgery without attaining legal consent to a female patient in 2015, to the best of my recollection from reading through the almost 60 page decision by our Medical Board. The California Medical Board did recommend that I request a refund for the horrible surgery and as expected Dr Alexander had denied a refund based on my personal experience along with the pain and suffering I continue to experience 24/7. At this junture I await all my medical records for legal review before deciding to file my complaint with the CMB to investigate. If I could turn back time, and had ben told the truth, I would have run the other way as fast as I could and never has allowed him to tough me.

Update, Melissa, Dr. Alexander coordinator did let me know in her email that a refund may have been issued had I not posted my review and pictures on this site. Which only tells me that is is NEVER about the patients only the cash cow business.

I completely understand your pain, stress and suffering due to these poor results. I myself was a victim of another cosmetic surgeon and survived severe complications such as complete necrosis of the skin and nerve damage that left the right side of my face paralyzed.

In addition to all that, I now have large scars and have similar results to you that the face and neck lift was not done properly (you can read my review and see my photos).

You have every right to sue the surgeon and seek compensation for the pain, stress and damage you have suffered and in addition to a refund for the surgery you paid for, you have the right to seek additional compensation for new revision surgeries needed to correct the damage, as well as special compensation for suffered stress and emotional pain.

Thank you. for your compassion and empathy in this matter. Greed is what rules this Dr. Alexander, who never at any point offered to refund me based on the reality that I must have a revision to fix this horrible result. Instead, in hindsight their tactic was to gaslight, intimidate, and distance themselves from me. This has consumed not only my physical and mental health with unexpected complications that are unrelenting. Per his coordinator, (whose job is to protect her Golden Goose and pay check, instead of being an honest broker.) I am still awaiting me promised medical records for review, and will proceed accordingly.

I am so sorry for your pain and suffering after your procedure. I hope you heal and get the results you deserve!

God Bless.

I was botched by Dr. Ernest Robinson in Aliso Viejo, CA. He denied my request for a refund. His colleague told me my face results would not improve because my facial skin was pulled in the wrong direction and would need to be revised corrected. He still wouldn't give me a refund. I posted photos of his work. Pictures do not lie. People can then decide if they want to chance spending thousand to be placed in the same position as us. When a doctor makes an apparent botch where others can see their work, common business sense would be to refund the patient. They will make less money from botched results bad reviews which eill detour potential clients from their business. Hence loss of continued revenue.
Go see Dr. Balikian in Murrieta. He is an expert at correcting botched facelifts. He did my revision. At least get his opinion. All the best to you. Sorry about your experience. I know it takes an emotional toll..

Im glad you finally has great results. I have now consulted with 2 surgeons who were surprised that I ever had any work done. Thank you!

What procedure did he do? Facelift and neck lift? Looking at your photos, it doesn't look like you had your face lifted. What type of facelift procedure did he do? Skin lift only, SMAS, definitely not a deep plane lift.

Thank you ALL who have privately reached out to me to in support. I am grateful that there are savy potential patients who have seen this post and have made an educated decision to NOT schedule with Dr. Alexander. His ability and power to thwart and have my personal experience on all social media is nothing less than that of bullying and gaslighting patients who have valid claims. Dr. Alexander did not hae to ability to to maneuver the facelift planes that he excised causing not only Dysesthesia, but more importantly periocular as well asn ocular complications post operatively.
