Very Happy with my Transformation!
Repair, Renew, Reshape: this was the brief I gave to the many surgeons that I consulted with when I started searching for an aesthetic surgeon. I have been seriously looking since about 2017, when I really thought I cannot look at myself anymore. My issues were twofold; I had a botched rhinoplasty in 2008 (my nose looked like an upward pointed pig snout), and then stupidly went back to the same surgeon in 2011 for what I was led to believe was going to be a SMAS facelift (it was actually a "lunchtime lift", that left Frankenstein scars in front of both ears, and two pixie ears in addition).
The results of both procedures were disappointing to say the least, which led me to slowly consider trying again, despite being afraid that I would be stuck again with a face that didnt feel like Me.
For this time around, I had consultations with many doctors in the US and in Europe.
I discovered Dr. Marchac on the website of another surgeon who operates mainly in the US. One of the things I realized is that I did not want to recover from something so invasive while I was far away from home (I live in Europe).
His before and afters are amazing, and this was what drew me to him in the first instance. I called his practice and found it difficult to get through at first. I left a message on the answering machine (it is in French of course so it helps if you speak French. I do not but I was determined). I got a call-back a few days later which was great.
Unfortunately for me, this was at the beginning of 2020 and of course we all know that a few months in there was no way to move forward for a while. It made me restart my search and come to the decision that it might be best to stay home and try to solve my rhinoplasty issue first.
In March 2021 I had a successful revision with a doctor in Switzerland. This great result encouraged me to try to contact the offices of Dr. Marchac again. He specializes in ear surgery, which was on my list as I started having a very uncomfortable downward pulling sensation about three years after the lift. I also hoped he could correct my jowls (this was supposed to be the goal the first time around, but the effect lasted literally a year and then I looked the same as before but with weird ears).
I was finally able to get an appointment with him in June of 2022 (he is in demand!), and the meeting was great. This time around, I had done a lot of research and a lot of soul searching (which I advise everyone to do as I had walked in the first time and treated both surgeries like they were simply purchases, which of course they absolutely are not).
I had everything written down, I provided photos of how I used to look before any interventions, and also photos of the afters. I had a good feeling about Dr. Marchac, his offices are very nice, and the colleagues of Dr. Marchac are all really really outstanding. Myriam is the first point of contact, she speaks English and is very efficient and organized, as well as being a warm person in general.
We planned together that my operation would take place in February of 2023. It seemed like ages away but ended up being a great decision because I had time to prepare myself and also to be sure that I really wanted this.
I had the following procedures done in an operation that lasted about 5 hours:
Upper and lower blepharoplasty
Temporal lift
Deep plane face lift
Lip lift
Fat grafting
The recovery was not as quick and easy as my first interventions but this was also a laundry list of procedures. I am so thankful I did not have any complications, and the care that Dr. Marchac and his team provided me with were nothing less than outstanding. He called me on Saturday afternoon after the OP to see how I was doing, which I found remarkable.
I stayed in Paris for two weeks, and saw Dr. Marchac approximately every 3 days for checkups. I also hired a private nurse to change my dressings every day and to help me with my eyes (that actually took a while to heal; while there were no complications, my eyes did heal quite slowly in the sense that I had trouble seeing for weeks until everything settled).
The lip lifting has made an unbelievable change to my face, and I recommend it highly. I do still have a tiny scar, but I only did one pass from a Fraxel laser, and it was recommended me to do two.
The deep plane lifting has made me so happy - I look better than I ever did. My ears look normal now, I do not have any pulling sensation, and there are no visible scars. A friend of mine who is a nurse practitioner was so impressed because she saw nothing, as she told me while pawing through my hair looking for the scars haha.
The temporal lift was also a good decision, as I had had a thread lift in my face and temple region in Switzerland in 2021 as a temporary solution for my issue - but it did not help and unfortunately left me with two Frankenstein knobs under my hair at the temple region. Dr. Marchac was able to successfully repair this area and also remove all the threads in my face (which by the way I do not recommend - its too much invasion for a minimal result and also it isnt cheap).
Really, all in all, eight months after my surgeries, I can report that I am very happy with Dr. Marchac and the care he provided to me. I can one hundred percent recommend him as an aesthetic surgeon who has the capabilities and skills to fix botches, but also to enhance his patients to look outwardly a lot better than they did before going under his knife.
