Since I turned 50 I’ve developed significant skin laxity, and the expression on my face started looking hard and angry. The lines on my skin didn’t bother me as much as the fallen muscles and skin, and Botox stopped working for lifting my droopy eyes. I started researching how to improve my hanging skin without an artificial, filled, or pulled look. My goal has been to return to how I looked when I was younger, without looking fake, pulled, or done.
I chose Dr. Hector Miramontes for a facelift for several reasons:
• He specializes in facial surgery
• He has a unique approach with a super high SMAS facelift, using his own technique that he has developed.
• His technique to achieve a natural lift by improving the underlying muscles of the face.
• His experience of board certification and training with world renowned plastic surgeons.
• His location of moving back to his home of Mexico significantly reduces his overhead, making this type of surgery more affordable compared to my quotes in the US
• Excellent before and after pictures
• His reassurance of correcting his work if I’m not satisfied, requesting his patients stay for 2 weeks, and follow up care
A lot of reviews here describe their doctors as “a true artist”, I would describe Dr. Miramontes as a true scientist, he understands facial anatomy and how it changes with age. He seems passionate about his theories of how to repair the aging process, and gets excited when explaining them. He is NOT an assembly-line low budget international plastic surgeon, so don’t expect super low price . Dr. Miramontes is not a promoter of himself, and is a busy surgeon. His coordinator, Karen, is the person that arranges everything and answers questions before you arrive in Guadalajara. I didn’t have one-on-one consultation with Dr. Miramontes until Karen took me to his office.
My consultation: He spent a lot of time asking me questions and listening to my concerns. I explained that I didn’t want to change the natural shape of my eyes, but hated how my eyelids looked tired. I thought I needed upper Bleph, but Dr. Miramontes explained that my lids were not hooded, instead my eyebrows had dropped causing that appearance. We both agreed that an upper, mid, and lower facelift would be best for a completely youthful look. I’ve never had a doctor spend so much time consulting with me before.
Next Day Surgery: Dr. Miramontes performs at Innovare Hospital, which appeared newer, clean, and professionally operated. My surgery was 5 hours long, with 100s of meticulous stitches. After recovery, I was placed in my own hospital room, with my own nurse for 2 days.
Day 1: I’m not going to lie, this is major surgery and it feels like it. My nurse did everything possible to keep me comfortable, and Dr. Miramontes’ doctor assistants checked on me regularly. Dr. Miramontes gave me his personal cell number so I could contact him directly if necessary.
First Week: After 2 days I was sent back to my hotel suite with my Nurse, Lula, who was amazing. I started with 4 drains, and had 1 remaining drain left that Lula monitored. I looked pretty freaky, with staples and stitches, lots of bruising and swelling. I was able to switch to Tylenol after 4 days, took small walks, and lots of rest.
Second Week: I’m feeling good, but tire easily. The stitches and staples are removed, and I received ultra sound treatments at the hospital every day to improve circulation and promote healing. Some of the other patients got the hyperbaric chamber package to heal faster, I didn’t feel I needed this. I can already tell my results are amazing, and exactly what I’m wanting.
Third Week: I still have swelling and a blackeye, which is difficult to hide, but I have to go back to work. I get headaches if my day is too long, and I’m getting tired of sleeping on my back. I’m trying my best to keep my chin elevated as Dr. Miramontes requests. I’m getting some sensation back in my face, but everything feels extremely tight. So far I’m still very happy with my results.

Wow! You look fab

You look absolutely stunning, I'm speechless! So incredibly young, mid-30s max! Did you basically just have loose skin? Those women always seem to have a much better outcome than if there is a lot of underlying fat. That seems to be a much more difficult surgery to get right.
December 21, 2019
Thank you, I agree, he did a great job! I've always taken real good care of my skin, so I had fine lines, no deep lines. They may come back after all the swelling subsides, but I'm okay with that. The loose skin is what was depressing me and that's all gone.

You are a stunningly beautiful woman. I have one question about your procedure- did you do anything such as blepharoplasty with your eyes? Did you ever model?
December 22, 2019
Thank you for the compliment, and no, I'm not a former model. I thought I needed blepharoplasty, Dr. Miramontes said I didn't need it. He recommended a brow/forehead lift. I was worried my high forehead would look even higher, or a scar would show in my hairline. My incision is from ear to ear over the top of my head ( like a headband), and invisible. My hairline looks the same, but now my eyebrows are where they used to be. No more botox!

Nice. And did you notice any hair loss where that “headband” incision is?
December 26, 2019
The incision over the top of my head has healed and is very thin. I haven't noticed any hair loss, and any hairs cut with the incision are minimal.I feel little poky hairs growing back here and there, and it's hard to see the incision unless you part my hair and look for it.

Hi, are you miss California? Did you attend the red carpet after the procedure ?
December 22, 2019
You look very pretty how much did it cost you? I am thinking of using him.

Thank you

I listed the price I paid for a complete facelift at the top of my review. He has set prices for various procedures, but it's not certain what he recommends until he sees you in person.

I'm at 4 weeks now and I'm still happy with my results. Most of the bruising is gone, and my nerves are regenerating. My incisions have completely healed. I'm looking forward to coloring my hair and exercising again.

wowoow...incredible...did you travel alone? Any lumps or bumps? You mentioned staples...where were they?
January 6, 2020
I traveled alone, and a friend flew in after I was out of the hospital and stayed for a week. I did meet other patients that also traveled alone. Having the private nurse helps! No real lumps or bumps, but I still have a little swelling, which I'm told is normal. The staples were in the scalp incision which elevated my brows and forehead. The incision was from ear to ear over my head, kind of in the same pattern as where a headband is placed. It is invisible because of my hair.

Would be really grateful if you could post what your incisions around your ears look like now. Thanks so much!

I've had some members ask to see my incisions, so I'm posting them. I can't say enough how blown away how well I've healed.I got breast implants over 10 years ago, and these incisions look 100% better than that surgery at 5 weeks. It's extremely difficult to see the incisions on my breasts, so I know these incisions will be completely invisible soon. I still have some bruising behind the ears, but if I put a little make-up there I have no problem putting my hair up.

is anyone else not able to get a response from this doctors office?
January 8, 2020
I initially contacted his patient coordinator, Karen, through Real Self by clicking the consultation button. All my correspondence was through email, and she also runs his website. Dr. Miramontes speaks English, but I highly doubt anyone in his actual office speaks English.

the phone rings and goes dead and the email bounces back? Can someone else try now ?
January 7, 2020
did you get lip injections?
January 8, 2020
Not during my facelift, I haven't had lip injections in about a year and a half.

Beautiful
January 7, 2020
You look amazing @ 5 weeks do you still feel some tightness and numbness?
January 8, 2020
Thank you! Dr. Miramontes does what he calls an internal corset on the neck area. It felt very tight the first week. My muscles and tendons are still tight on my neck, but I have complete flexibility and it's not painful. My face and neck were numb at first, most of the feeling has come back. I get tingling and nerve zaps as everything regenerates itself.
January 7, 2020
Wow. His stitches look really well-done. And you look spectacular!
