Led down the path / the road to nowhere

ORIGINAL POST

led down the path / the road to nowhere

I had thought Dr. Leber was an honorable trustworthy Doctor from my meetings/interactions with him. He had told me I was a candidate for facelift surgery with fat injections and that he would perform it. Took numerous photos, bloodwork, preop, etc.
His office staff which I was aware of abt before even going into this from reviews I read online, treated me so poorly throughout this journey. I was just hoping I wouldn't be one of those unfortunate ones that I had read about that got treated so badly. The bad office staff is a reflection of a provider. Unfortunately, the patient coordinator had an issue with me and after numerous insults /degradation and defamation, (which I reported to medical authorities ) she informed me she wanted to cancel my surgery and refund me. Dr. Leber however chose not to do that and the practice held onto my money and he decided to go forth with the surgery.
When COVID 19 hit, my surgery got canceled and legally the practice had to refund all patients money. However, the funds had been held for so long that I am paying finance charges for it. I was promised by the patient coordinator many times that she would get me back on the schedule when elective surgeries resumed. I was instructed since the day I met Dr. Leber not to do any more fillers in preparation for these procedures. I was told I could do Botox and my lips. Detailed medical instructions. When COVID 19 hit, the patient coordinator told me I had to follow these instructions up until my surgery day or I wouldn't be able to do the procedures. I continued to follow them.
That surgery day unfortunately never happened. Instead what did happen was that I had lied to all summer long. I was told (even though the governor said elective surgeries could resume,) Dr. Leber was not doing any more surgeries in Boston and they had no updates ....even as the summer came to a close, no updates at all when I inquired. I got promised phone calls back which never happened. I was promised I would get back on the list for surgery many times. Most of my emails got ignored. Finally, I had found out from an outside source I had been lied to for months.
Dr. Leber's practice was indeed scheduling surgeries in Boston. There is a reason why doctors take medical oaths to do no harm. Clearly a lot of intentional harm was done here. At some point, he must have decided not to want to do it but instead of being honest, he carried out this façade for almost a year until I caught them in this lie and confronted them and then received, even more, lies in an email with them blaming other people and circumstances as to why the surgery was not carried out. None of it made sense but I was told it was not Dr. Leber's fault ( of course). To this day I still don't know the real reason why he led me down the path to the road to nowhere ...and made empty promises he couldn't keep.
I wasted almost a whole year waiting for surgery from him that he never wanted to do but led me to believe /made me believe he did. I trusted him so much. Its unethical and immoral and a deceptive business practice to conduct things this way. Honesty is key. Patients deserve honesty, caring, kindness, and should never be spoken to in a derogatory manner by office staff. Shame on Dr. Leber for allowing this type of behavior to go on under his own roof...not just to me, but other women who have complained about his staff online.
The finality to this is that I was told in writing from his patient coordinator, Dr. Leber wants me to find another surgeon to do the surgery and that if I want to discuss this further, she will call me on her personal cell with a blocked number. I was advised to only speak to Dr. Leber from that point on however after I received that last statement in the email. I am leaving this review so buyers can beware. This is just my personal experience I had here, it may or may not happen to you. I wouldn't wish this harm to anybody so am putting this out there for potential patients to see and decide for themselves if this is where they want to go.

Ugh, what a nightmare, so sorry you experienced this. What do you think caused the shoddy treatment from the staff to begin with? Are you getting your money back? Wishing you the best.
Thanks Bebe , Yeah big nightmare for sure . I did eventually get my money back only because Covid 19 hit and they weren't allowed to hold onto patients money, they had to reimburse everybody. The finance charges I will have to still pay tho as they held onto my money for so long and I was making payments every month instead of paying my whole credit card in full. In terms of the insults/defamation/degradation from the office staff , I'd have to sum it up as "personality conflict" . The DR. himself was always very nice to me to my face and seemed sincere when I saw him but exactly like one of the reviews I read online, its unbearable working with the office staff and it makes it not worth it in the end... no matter how great of a surgeon he may be. I know a lot of people are afraid to speak out abt negative experiences or bad experiences, even illegal things that have occurred to them , but I have always felt that if nobody comes forward to talk about it, then the behavior keeps happening to more innocent people....the cycle will never be broken. Voices need to be heard so to speak to make change happen .
Sorry you had that experience, I know with covid things haven't been normal at all... I had surgery in July 2020 with Dr. Leber and just want to say to anyone looking into getting surgery with him , that it was hands down the best experience I have ever had. Ashleigh the patient coordinator was so kind and there form me every step of the way, Dr. Leber was beyond outstanding, and the staff at the Boston Center was incredible. Can't say it enough. I don't normally comment but just felt like this needed to be said....I'll definitely be back to see Dr. Leber, without a doubt.
Thats exactly my point in my post. Ashleigh lied to me saying they weren't doing surgeries last summer and you just verified that she lied. They WERE doing surgeries , you yourself had surgery. Thank you for backing me up on my point . I want people to understand what kind of people he has working for him.
