I Would Do It Again !!!
There is nothing I can regret about my decision to have a face and neck lift with Mr.Chana. I had it over a year ago, at the age of 51. My neck and lower face suddenly started to suffer from loss of collagen. It was not even a process to which I could get used to. It just happened abruptly, as if from one day to another. My neck got wrinkled and floppy; my lower face would hang down with an excess of skin on both sides. When I was lying in bed on my side my face would lie down next to me. I could literally pick it up from the pillow as a separate sheet of skin. I was not prepared to age so quickly !!! For the last decade I had botox and fillers, and occasionally laser treatment. My dermatologist told me it was too early for a surgery but I felt it was too late to deliberate whether I should or should not have it as it was apparent no injections would eliminate the excess of the skin. I could not marvel enough by the speed the aging attacked me. It took me several months to find the right surgeon. I was investigating Mr. Chana over some period of time getting used to the idea that he was the one that would touch my face. I would never ever get under a knife with a surgeon who has no experience in facelifts and whose work I could not appreciate. I was looking for bad comments and negative reviews on Mr. Chana and happily found NONE. I could see the before and after pictures of people whom Mr. Chana stole 10 years or more and in such a graceful way that they all looked breathtaking. I did a thorough research and scheduled for a Skype face-to-face appointment with Mr. Chana thinking that if he disappoints me I have no other surgeon to go to. From a thousand and one questions I had to ask I maybe asked two and asked them to be polite rather than to be unknowledgeable. Mr. Chana was delightful in his approach to a desperate and fearful lady like me. He blew away any doubt but at the same time was realistic about my expectations. This is exactly what I wanted; get rid of the excess of skin on my lower face and my neck and hence get my face and neck looking firmer. The months prior surgery were infinite. Even as child I did not expect anything with so much enthusiasm. I feared no pain or complications. I knew I was going to be in good hands, would leave there my extra skin and go back home glowing. And this is exactly what happened. The pain after surgery is almost non existent as the nerves responsible for feeling are cut and it would take them months to regenerate. The face is numb, round and beautifully young. For a month I slept as a soldier in a trench. Seated. It was a pandemic year so I did not worry about bruises on my chin as I wore a face mask. I did get a lump on one side on my neck; behind my ear. It was round and hard at the beginning going through all colors of rainbow just like a bruise. It took months to disappear! The pain came around five months after surgery. Mostly sharp and short and fading away within a few months. Now I can still feel some discomfort right behind my ears, under my chin and at the back of my head behind my ears where the incisions were made. There is no more dumbness on my face and it feels good and natural though rapid movements of the head from side to side and from upwards to downwards are a bit hampered. Yes, I can move it freely in all directions but not as fast as before. The face still gets more tender in the evening and there is a sensation of a band pressing underneath the chin and up to the ears. I experienced occasional spots and pimples within the second half of the year. They are all gone now. When I sleep on my side my face skin is no longer detached from my face. Now they are nicely integrated :) and firm. Would I do it again if I could go back in time? Definitely. Would I like to complain about anything? Absolutely nothing. All side effects I described above are worth of experiencing if you see the final effects. Any price is worth it. I can say it now. The worst side effect was a moral hangover I got right after surgery. It was two faced. One psychological stemmed from unfounded, irrational but overwhelming fear of disfiguring my body and blaming no body but myself. The other economical one tormented me about wasting money on vanity. After two weeks of heavy crying the hangover was gone. I see my face in the mirror every morning, put some very light makeup on, more out of the habit than the need, and begin my day smiling and approaching people openly. Even my posture is much better now. The aging has gone for now and if it comes back I hope it will process me gradually :)
Mr. Chana, his surgery assistants and all the personnel from Hadley Wood Hospital were very kind and professional. I could not hope for a better care. If I can give advice to prospective facelift patients I would say; first and foremost find a board certified surgeon specialized in facelifts and with excellent record supported with before and after pictures. Secondly, never take a price as a criterion for your choice. Because your health and beauty have no price.
