Girin – My Facial Rejuvenation Experience in Seoul
WORTH IT
Sharing My Experience:
I hope this post helps anyone researching clinics and surgeons in Seoul (like I once did). I’m sharing my personal experience with Girin Clinic, hoping it can shed some light on a life changing process. My before-and-after photos were taken on the day of surgery and again seven days afterward.
Areas I Wanted to Improve:
Over the past few years, I noticed my eyebrows starting to droop, making it uncomfortable to open my eyes fully. My lower eyelids also began to develop a tired appearance, and the lower half of my face and neck started showing signs of deepening wrinkles and sagging. My main goal was to rejuvenate my entire face while maintaining a subtle, natural aesthetic (something that South Korean clinics are particularly known for).
Procedures I Decided On:
• Forehead Lift
• Sub-Brow Lift
• Lower Blepharoplasty
• Full Facelift (Dual Plane SMAS)
• Platysmaplasty + Chin Liposuction
• Fat Grafting
Choosing the Right Clinic & Surgeon:
I started my research by combing through reviews of highly rated clinics across platforms like: Unni, Purseblog, RealSelf, Google, and Reddit. I made sure to look at each clinic’s website, their procedures, safety policies, and the medical team’s qualifications. I focused on clinics with well-educated, experienced surgeons, and in-house anesthesiologists. After narrowing it down to six promising options, I reached out to each via WhatsApp to start the consultation process.
Girin stood out due to their responsiveness, emphasis on safety, and competitive pricing. From there, I specifically requested and scheduled (April 2026) an in-person consultation with Dr. Jeon after reviewing her strong background: Seoul National University graduate, training at Seoul National University Hospital, board certification (verified via KSPRS member directory), and extensive experience as a high-volume surgeon. I was also reassured by the positive reviews from previous patients, who praised her aesthetic approach, before-and-after photos, and personal touch.
Consultation Day:
I was nervous and anxious, as this was my first time considering surgery abroad and a major life decision. I arrived early at Girin for my 9:30 AM appointment. The clinic was clean, professional, and welcoming, and check-in was seamless. I met Aliya (my WhatsApp coordinator), who guided me to a private office where I discussed the procedures with Dr. Jeon, accompanied by an English-speaking translator (provided by the clinic).
My first impression of Dr. Jeon was that she had a warm and reassuring presence. We discussed my facial concerns and the goal of achieving natural, subtle results. She took the time to carefully examine my face, listened to my concerns, answered all my questions, and recommended a set of procedures that would work together for a balanced, refreshed look.
The consultation lasted about 30–45 minutes, and at no point did I feel rushed or pressured. Dr. Jeon’s patience and thoroughness reassured me that I was in good hands. Despite all my prior research, meeting her in person confirmed she was the right fit for me, and I felt comfortable moving forward.
Surgery Day:
Although I was still nervous, I felt confident in Dr. Jeon and the clinic. I arrived early at Girin for my 9:00 AM pre-op appointment, in preparation for my 10:00 AM surgery. After the anesthesia team reconfirmed my evaluation, I changed into my surgery clothes. Dr. Jeon subsequently marked my face and went over my goals once more, ensuring we were aligned on achieving soft, natural results.
Once the surgery was completed, I was transferred to the recovery room, where I stayed overnight with an IV drip, water, and soft foods available. During the night, I felt extremely weak, unable to open my eyes, and experienced some nausea, but I was grateful for the aftercare nursing staff, who monitored me and provided support throughout the night.
Post-Op (Day 1):
The morning after surgery was the toughest. I felt nauseous, my face was swollen and tight, and I could barely open my eyes or mouth. Dr. Jeon checked in on me around 10:00 AM, reassured me the surgery went well, and advised staying in the recovery room until my afternoon check-up and drainage tube removal. After the drains were taken out, I was cleared to travel back to my hotel with my niece.
Post-Op (Day 2–3):
I spent most of Day 2 resting, using cold compresses, and eating small amounts of soft foods like porridge and yogurt.
On Day 3, I returned to Girin for a follow-up. The clinic’s nurses cleaned my face and incisions, adjusted bandages around my lower eyelids, and removed my forehead bandages. Dr. Jeon confirmed that healing was on track and that my eye stitches would be removed on Day 6. I noticed slight improvement with my eyes opening a bit more, though swelling was still present.
Post-Op (Day 4–5):
By Day 4, I began feeling more like myself. My strength returned, and I was able to move around more comfortably. Swelling and bruising were still visible, with a purple hue turning yellow (an indicator of healing).
By Day 5, recovery continued to improve. I was able to eat soft foods like noodles, which felt like a big milestone. My swelling decreased slowly, and I continued following all post-op care instructions provided by the clinic.
Post-Op (Day 6–7):
On Day 6, I had my eyebrow and lower eyelid stitches removed. Dr. Jeon reconfirmed my healing was progressing well, and I was advised that the remaining stitches from my facelift and forehead lift would be removed on Day 8. I was also cleared to switch from cold to warm compresses for my face which should help with my swelling.
By Day 7, I could open my eyes more comfortably and eat a wider range of soft foods. Swelling had noticeably reduced, and my entire face already looked more refreshed compared to the previous days.
Final Thoughts:
My experience at Girin has been overwhelmingly positive. From start to finish, I felt well taken care of by the entire staff. Dr. Jeon, in particular, was amazing throughout the entire process—from the consultation to surgery and post-op care. She genuinely listened to my concerns, tailored the procedures to my needs, and ensured I was comfortable throughout the entire process.
My eyebrows are no longer drooping, I can open my eyes more comfortably, and my face looks rejuvenated. I’m excited to see my progress in the coming months and will post updates as I continue to heal.
