A Very Positive Experience!

This is long overdue and long in length, but I want to share my experiences at Sarasota Plastic Surgery. I found that reading what others have to say is often very helpful to the decision process as well as with helping to collect your thoughts. I hope that addressing each step along the complicated path to surgery may provide useful information and, more importantly, emphasize that is was the care, skill, and staff support that created a positive experience for me.

Having plastic surgery means working out a series of details that can be overwhelming and stressful, as well as scary. There are so many questions to be resolved. From your first appointment to the big day, should you decide to proceed, there isn’t much time and the questions continue to pile up.

I have undergone surgery twice at Sarasota Plastic Surgery. My decision was more complicated because I came from out of town. I was referred to Dr. Mobley, who was highly recommended, and at our first meeting I felt this was the right choice. One down!

I was also immediately impressed with the staff that greeted me with smiles, and were courteous, and professional. Things went smoothly and efficiently checking in, and I felt at ease with the friendly assistant who escorted me to the exam room. Each time I had an appointment she cheerfully took the time to listen to my questions, to explain what to expect, and she never made me feel rushed.

I had worked with a coordinator before coming in for my appointment, and she came to meet me. This was most helpful because she had had surgery and I could see results plus she provided some details that put that my mind more at ease.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Mobley. His pleasant and calm manner eased the tension I was feeling. He listened to my concerns with genuine compassion, offered his thoughts and suggestions, and discussed the treatments and probable outcome, along with my expectations and my options. It was a lot to think about, but I felt confident with him. There was, however, no computer imaging to help visualize the results, but perhaps it didn’t apply to my situation.

I was then guided through the scheduling and payment options in the office of a friendly, patient, and understanding coordinator. What could have been an ordeal, turned out to be a pleasant visit walking me through all of the choices available. She also provided information for a nearby hotel and dinner recommendations for the night before surgery since I was staying too far away to risk making it on time for my early morning appointment. I left her feeling broke, but a little less stressed since she took the time and extra steps needed to ensure that I understood what to expect.

I knew I would be spending some money. It was explained to me that the cost would be less if I added other procedures that had been discussed. Coming back later for these means doctor and operating room charges again, as well as hospital, transport, hotel, and essentially going through the whole process all over. I, however, wasn’t able to do more at that time. I also wanted to heal before going home and didn’t have much time.

Even though the decision was made and the appointment booked, I admit that while driving back an hour and a half away, panic began to set in as I wondered what in the world I had just done. Should I cancel and run? I was about to put my body in the hands of strangers hoping that I would not be disappointed at the results.

I was contacted a few times about scheduling and required prescriptions. Maybe they knew they should keep in touch! Everyone made every effort to assure me that they would be there if I had any questions or any doubts.

On the day of surgery, when it was too late to turn back, I was greeted upon arrival with comforting, but upbeat words. The scene was completely different in the surgical center, but they were ready for me and I was handled efficiently and professionally by all. A great nurse was assigned to me who knew just the right words of encouragement, I’m sure anticipating my fear, and even though things moved quickly each step was explained which helped me to stay calm.

I was going to spend the night at a nearby hospital since I couldn’t drive yet and had a doctor’s appointment the next day. I remember two fun yet very professional gentlemen who rolled me into a transport vehicle and safely delivered me. Everyone at the hospital was wonderful, friendly and kind. After getting me settled, I was brought the best ever grilled cheese sandwich. I was hungry and I think they even brought me a second one!

There is no question that seeing yourself the next day might be a shocking experience. And I had to go out in public! I had a pleasant ride back to the clinic with the two transport men and was greeted with cheers at the clinic. Dr. Mobley assured me that I would be pleased with the results, but to be patient because it would take a little time to get there. I was given my instructions for healing and sent home with the entire staff offering me encouragement.

The next couple of days were a little tough, as expected, and I slept most of the time. My instructions were well defined and I was given a selection of products to apply to help with healing. My next appointment was a week away, but the clinic called to follow-up and check on me and to address any questions.

I was anxious to see results and was able to see some even with the bruising and swelling. The scars fade fairly quickly, but it really does take a few months to achieve the final results. Each day, however, showed some improvement

Many things contribute to the decision to have surgery, but foremost among them is choosing the right doctor for you. Credentials give you a place to start, followed by your impressions after visiting the doctor and clinic. Certainly recommendations play a role if available, as do reviews, in my opinion, if for no other reason than to make you aware of things to look for or to add to your list of questions.

The treatment and patient care that I received from start to finish at Sarasota Plastic Surgery was excellent. It was the level of trust that ultimately determined my decision, giving me the confidence to go forward. I am completely satisfied, and I could not be happier with the results.
