I had the following complex surgical procedures by the amazing Dr. Surmeli at Memorial Bachelievler Hospital and they include...

1: Upper and lower eyelid transconjunctival surgery aimed at removing the excessive amount of fat in my upper and lower eyelids.

2: Fat transfer from the abdominal area to my face, aimed at helping my face have a more youthful overall look.

3: Canthoplasty, aimed at aligning my lower eyelid and ensuring that I was able to close them fully finally.

With such a large amount of complex surgical procedures, I spent one-year researching which doctor to choose; I read hundreds of reviews on both RealSelf and Doktortakvimi, and then watched countless hours of YouTube testimonials......all of this leads me to select the talented and wonderful Dr. Surmeli.

My overall experience from the very start of my discussion with Dr. Surmeli, his talented ClincPlast team, including Ali, was excellent, world-class, and simply amazing.

Dr. Surmeli and his ClincPlast team set the standard on how patients should be treated and how the overall surgical process should be from start to finish. From my face-to-face consultation in Istanbul to my last progress review before I left, I was always in touch with Dr.Surmeli via Ali, his incredible ClincPlast team Director, who was still there to help answer any question I had. All my questions, from what taxi to take to the hospital, to what type of medication I should take, to what my dietary restrictions were answered quickly and accurately.

Dr. Surmeli has the qualities which endear him to myself and his patients, they include his unending passion for helping you achieve the very best, which is suitable for your situation. Dr. Surmeli takes the time to listen and carefully describe every step he will take and what the outcome will be and why it is beneficial for you. Dr. Surmeli also has the world-class surgical and artistic skillsets to help you achieve your goals, but he does it with the humility and patience of a dear friend...and for that, I am eternally grateful.

Dr. Surmeli performed my surgical procedures over three hours at Memorial Bachelievler Hospital. During this period, Ali was always with me to make sure I was doing okay, answering all my questions and request and helping me feel as comfortable as possible.

Dr. Surmeli was terrific in explaining everything that would happen and was the last face I saw before I was put under. I don´t remember much after the surgery, but I do have some fuzzy memory of Dr. Surmeli telling me everything was okay, and the next thing I know..I was in my hospital bed being helped up by my nurse, who was spoon-feeding me soup and giving me my medication. The recovery process was challenging, but having Ali check in on me, and then also Dr. Surmeli helped me recover much faster.

I have to point out that the nurses and the entire ambiance of Memorial Bachelievler Hospital were amazing. Some of the talented nurses may not speak English so fluently, so please be patient and understanding of this, use google translate to chat with them, and remember to be respectful of the fact that you are in their country, and they are doing their best to take care of you.

So overall, I am now in the recovery process, which will last at least six months to a year. While I am waiting to recover fully, I know in my heart that I made the right choice in having Dr. Surmeli perform my surgical procedures. I can´t thank him for his great effort in helping me regain my self.confidence and being able to see the version of me I haven´t seen in a year. I look forward to future procedures with Dr.Surmeli because he is simply the best, and the only doctor I trust wholeheartedly and respect.

I wanted to share more detailed information on the overall process, so I have decided to showcase my actual pictures throughout my entire process. I will first begin with what I looked like before having surgical procedures with Dr.Surmeli.

I wanted to share some photos that I took right after my surgery and a few days later. I am hoping by sharing these pictures, they can help you understand what you may experience when you have both upper and lower eyelid surgery with fat grafting.
The first few days are the most challenging. After waking up from surgery, you will find yourself disoriented, off-balance and lacking any appetite for food or water. Thankfully The wonderful nurses at Memorial Bachelievler Hospital did a great job in making sure I took all my medication, walked me around to the hospital floor to get me back to normal, and made me eat and drink to get my strength back up.
I was released the day after surgery, and to fully recover and ensure that everything went well, I spent an additional week in Istanbul. I stayed at the wonderful hotel Hammamhane, where I was able to fully rest and recover with the great staff there looking after all my needs. If you are doing any surgery in Istanbul, I would recommend the hotel.
After a few days of just resting in the hotel and having food delivered to my hotel room, and also taking small walks to local cafes...I started to see some positive progress, but make no mistake this part of the recovery process is the most difficult. Your face will ballon up to abnormal size, you can´t sleep properly since you have to sleep in an upright position, and you just feel so tired almost all the time.
