Upper and Lower Blepharoplasty with Fat Transfer, Skin Pinch, Chemical Peel
WORTH IT$8,800
Had an upper blepharoplasty in my 20s because I was tired of people telling me that I looked tired, when I felt great and rested. At 45, I decided to have another go, this time with an upper and lower bleph, because I was continuing to get the "you look tired" comments again. (Why do people say this?!?!)
Got a referral to an oculoplastics surgeon from a dermatologist - Dr. Ivan Vrcek. Worth it!!!! Professional, kind, intelligent, speaks at the patient's level, easy to talk to, and very responsive to my emailed questions during recovery.
Recovery for upper and lower took a full two weeks. Plan to lay around the house for at least a week with antibiotic ointment in your eyes for about 10 days (limiting vision), and regular administration of eye drops to keep them from drying out (Celluvisc). You may feel better physically after a week, but limit any major activity. I made the mistake of cleaning my bathroom on day 5, which ended with a headache and wiping out my energy. Overall, your eyes will feel dry and scratchy, and limits you to laying flat, listening to podcasts.
Around Day 6, I developed chemosis in right eye (yellowed sclera with swelling typical during lower aleph). Easily treated with a steroid.
By Day 11, I was back to work with some swelling. Makeup covered the bruises, and no one seemed to notice or comment.
For about three months, my eyes continued to be dry and a little blurry, but easily maintained with Celluvisc and Refresh Liquigel. I also had an inflamed meibomian gland, which produced an oily discharge, and later a little "stone." This was cured (yes CURED) with castor oil. I now use the castor oil on my eyes and lashes every evening after washing my face. I recommend castor oil to maintain eye health. Many scholarly articles to support its benefits and safety around the eyes.
Overall this surgery is worth it. If someone tells you that you look tired when you're well rested, and you've been thinking about eye surgery, book a consult with Dr Vrcek and go from there. I took all of his professional recommendations, and very pleased with the results!

I'm actually planning on getting the exact same procedure as you. Initially I thought I'd just need a lower bleph but after my consult the Doctor told me that to get the look that I want, he'd need to do a fat transfer and something about a laser to seal it all up at the end. He quoted me $9,500 is that more or less what you paid or am I getting completely ripped off?

Thanks for your review!
