Upper Blepharoplasty - So Happy!
WORTH IT
Droopy, puffy eyelids run in my family, so as soon as I hit my mid-thirties I was already thinking about eyelid surgery. My eyelids were so droopy that I felt like I always looked angry and appeared older than my real age. If I wore eyeliner or mascara, it rubbed all over my forehead. Worst of all, the excess skin over my eyes was weighing on my eyeballs, actually making me feel tired throughout the day.
I am so happy that I found Dr. Lily Lee! She described that for me, the procedure would be out-patient and take less than an hour (this may not be the situation for every patient - but I was only having the upper lids done). For anyone interested in eyelid surgery, you avoid any kind of blood thinners for a few days prior to your procedure. The day of, you arrive half an hour early to get settled. I had been terrified that this process would be a painful, gruesome ordeal. But honestly, it was over in about thirty minutes, during which time Dr. Lee and her assistant did absolutely everything to make the process relaxing and even fun (we listened to 80's jams). It was easy enough that I took a Lyft home and watched Netflix for the rest of the day with ice packs on my eyes for ten minutes, off for ten minutes.
The swelling was pretty bad for the next two or three days (I took an entire week off from work) and I tend to bruise/scar easily. The swelling was just about completely gone after two weeks. I'm very pale, so the scars were somewhat noticeable for the first two months. But six months later, you can barely see my scars even in sunlight, and I am so, so happy with the results of my surgery. It was affordable and not even painful enough for me to take any type of painkiller the day after the procedure.
