I Had a Terrible Experience

Dr. Chang rushes through the informed consent process by giving you a long list of remote consequences to sign off on. She has hurt me irreversibly by not explaining what the Mullerectomy, an eyelid procedure, actually does. The Mullerectomy, to address drooping eyelids, removes Meibomian glands which produces the oil upon which your tears must lie in order not to evaporate. I now have constantly inflamed, burning eyes, can no longer read or watch screens for more than half an hour (I am crying as I write) and have paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to treat irreversible Meibomain Gland dysfunction. I have proof from Lipiscan imaging that all the Meibomian glands no longer function. My nerves constantly fire as the tears evaporate immediately, and I now have neurotrophic keratitis, hardening and numbing of the occular surface. I am afraid of eventually going blind. Dr. Chang told me she removed the glands at the 3 month follow up, AFTER the surgery. Had she told me before, I could have made a decision not to do this optional surgery. Instead, my life has irreversibly deteriorated. NOTE: treatment date cited is the date of Lipiscan proving all Meibomian Glands not functioning as it has been 5 years I have been struggling with this condition
