TBT Upper Eyelift
Jodie93737September 5, 2019
I had my consultation with Dr Kremer, and waited for about 20-30 mins to see him. When I met him he was very friendly and extremely talkative and eccentric. I told him that I wanted an TBT upper eyelift and he said he could perform this for me. I went to him because his technique didn't involve removing the fat pad so wouldn't give that hollow appearance around the socket that can happen after surgery and can happen naturally with the aging process. This was an important factor in choosing him as my surgeon as I am only 39 yrs old.
Would it not have been for that I would have gone to Dr Rajiv Grover.I have previously had surgery with Dr Grover who was superb. From beginning to end he was amazing. He had time for me at the consultation, performed great surgery and brilliant after care. Very professional surgeon with a lovely caring nature. My experience with Dr Kremer was regrettably not the same.
So at the consult he told me funny story after story about all his other patients (which went on for sometime). I waited patiently for him to finish so I could ask my questions. Whilst waiting for him to finish he had a phone call from reception because the other patient after me complained about waiting too long. so he told me he had no further time so I didn't really get to have a proper consult. This was extremely frustrating.
Regardless of this bad consultation, I elected to have surgery with him. On the surgery day I had to arrive at 7:30 am. I had to commute so I took the train around 5 ish. When he got round to seeing me before the surgery he said they had booked me in the wrong time so I had to wait for him to perform his other surgery first. The surgery was performed at Harley Health Village. The room in which i waited for the op was horrible as the walls did not go up to the ceiling so I could hear everything going on around me and all the personal details of his other patient in the room next to me (which means they can hear everything I am saying). Also the door to the surgery section of the clinic was extremely creaky and closed with a massive BANG which woke me up several times). I have have had several ops before this and I have never felt so uneasy and uncomfortable leading up to surgery.
Whilst performing surgery one of the pieces of equipment failed to work I think it was the cautery pen. So this was very disconcerting as I was awake at the time. So they had to find another one. After surgery the nurses were very good and caring though. When I was in recovery at home I wanted to contact him, his assistant was on holiday and I was not given any emergency contact numbers. If there was a problem I had nowhere to turn. I sent an email which they did not respond to. So I called the clinic and asked to speak to the Dr and they said they could not give me his contact details due to GDPR. He is my Dr it is ridiculous. I asked if he called me back but he didn't. They spoke with him and then the clinic called me back so I didn't really get the answers I wanted. When I had my stitches removed his assistant was back from holiday but the Dr was on holiday. So nurses had to take out the stitches and yet again there was an issue with this appt and they wanted to move the time. I was fed up at this point and said no I want my appt time as I have to commute and I have booked train tickets. Whilst the nurses were trying to remove the stitches someone was continually knocking on the door as they wanted the room. Yet again another bad experience.
I emailed his assistant a couple of weeks after surgery as I am a little worried about my healing and she did reply that day which was good. However, I am a month on and one eye still feels tight and I have several issues. I emailed them a couple of day ago and asking for advice and have had no response yet. This is my third plastic surgery procedure and this has been my worst experience.

TBT Upper Eyelift - Follow Up Consultation
Jodie93737November 1, 2019
Had my follow up consultation on 26 September 2019. I expressed all my concerns and worries. i.e Red eyelids and the issues with my right eye. Lump on outer corner, eyelashes pointing downwards. My main issue is that the the inner part of the eyelid feels loose and the outer part looks like it is pulled up too tightly giving it an unnatural operated look. My left eye feels totally normal but the right eye does not feel and look normal (more so when the eye is wide open). He advised that this will all sort itself out with time, but it seems the right eye is getting worse as times goes on. The redness is slowly improving but is still visible.
I am really upset and looking at getting revision surgery with a specialist ophthalmic plastic surgeon. The consult with the specialist is £275 and the revision surgery could cost up to £9750 but this would be based on the complexity of the surgery. I strongly urge anyone wanting eyelift surgery to have it carried out by an ophthalmic plastic surgeon to minimise the risk of complications and unsatisfactory results.

Thank you for your update! What was his response when you voiced your concerns about there not being any improvement... on the contrary things actually getting worse? Has he offered revision surgery down the line? Even if you don't consider having your revision with him, I would be interested if he even offers it free of charge or do you get the impression that he is trying to wriggle out of it. I've heard so many stories from women who were completely left out in the cold by their ps when things went wrong. A PS track record in terms of after care has become one of THE deciding factors for me.

I had upper eyelid lift and for three months I had keloid scars scabbing and bumps. Went to ophthalmologist and RX steroid eye drops . Red was gone and swelling . After, plastic surgeon steroid shot into eyelids atleast 3 different times, It worked ... My eyes look beautiful... However, this never happened before and there was underlying condition: OVERACTIVE IMMUNE SYSTEM. I knew something was wrong as I had foot surgery and same thing happened. This did not happen to me in the past. Get labs checked!!

Hi, thanks for your message. I do have rheumatoid arthritis which is down to an overactive immune system. So that makes sense. Would it be possible to see the pics of your eyes when they were red and healed please? How long did it take for you to be healed to the point you were happy? I did ask PS about steroid injections and he said I didn't need them.

My personal opinion is that a facial surgery should be performed by a surgeon who is specialized in facial surgery only and not an all-arounder who does everything, like tummy tuck, breast enlargement and lipo.

It takes MONTHS for redness to go away for light skinned people. I can't tell about your other issues, but redness is normal. I am 5 months out and still have some redness. My eyelashes also seemed different, but that's because I'd never seen them without a bunch of skin resting on them. There is no way to tell from the angle of your pictures what you are talking about for the skin. You really need to wait several months for everything to settle down and see the final result before nitpicking too much.

Advice on revision blepharoplasty please
Jodie93737January 2, 2020
Eyelids still red. Even though surgeon assured me this would all be cleared up before Christmas!! Looking for another surgeon to fix my right eye. Have heard so many scary stories not sure where to turn. I have come across a Susana Morley, London-based consultant oculoplastic and reconstructive surgeon, but have not seen any reviews on her. If anyone has had surgery or consultation with her I would be really grateful if you could let me know your thoughts, opinions and outcome of surgery. Many thanks!!!

Hard to articulate. It doesn't look too bad if my eye is just open normally. However, if I open my eye wide it lifts up too much in the outer corner and I can feel it pulling. It has never felt normal since the surgery. Also feels weird when I close it like there is a lump there. I really want to get it looked at. Hoping things aren't going to get worse. Whereas the left eye feels normal like before the surgery. It feels like tissue/fat needs to be released to make it feel and look more natural.

I went to an eye surgeon and he didn't do a good job so it's not always the case that that's what you need. An aesthetic plastic surgeon corrected my issues- thick eyelids and visible scars- and now it's so much better. Hoe you have had success with getting yours fixed too.
August 12, 2021
@Louis71, So happy for you. How long did you have to wait to correct the visible scars? I have very visible scars after the surgery with this doctor too and it's really embarassing, especially now when I have to participate in online meetings and always have camera from the frog's perspective with my eyes down - this is when the scars are seen the most. I am desperate for a correction.

Hi, Thank you for your message. Would you mind sharing which surgeons you used pleased? Glad your issues have been corrected. I'm still searching for a surgeon.
October 19, 2021
Hi, sorry to hear about both of your issues. Thanks for your well wishes- much appreciated. I understand how awful it is having to put up with mistakes a surgeon has made. I also had and still have reddish eyelids from the botched surgery but it is much less noticeable now as the surgeon I went with reduced my eyelids and I use foundation on them. You can DM me if you want. My surgeon's name is Dr Sorensen. All the best x

Sorry for replying so late but I didn't see this. Well, I don't know how long you're supposed to wait, maybe 6 months? The first doctor I had the procedure with said he would correct it at the earliest when the scars were no longer red- 4-5 months later. BUT then he didn't want to correct it as he thought it looked better and that the operation was a bit risky. 5 months later, I found a really skilled surgeon- Dr Sorensen- and I knew I could have confidence in him. I saw him in September and wanted to have the operation the end of July as I am a teacher. There was no rush and then the lockdowns made everything unsure but I did have the operation in July 2020. He removed the scars and made my eyelids a few mm less thick and also did a fat transfer as they were a bit hollow. There should be no problem removing the scars as long as there is enough skin available. How are you feeling about it now?
October 19, 2021
Thank you so much for your replies! I heard of Dr Sorensen. How much did it cost you, if it is not a secret?
October 20, 2021
Many thanks for your reply and the info provided, really appreciate it. I definitely want a revision but still really concerned about going through with it. Once you have had a bad experience it is really difficult to trust someone again. (Especially when it's your eyes and you can't hide the results).
October 23, 2021
I know. I suppose I was desperate to get mine changed and I knew when I met my new surgeon that I could trust him. I still had to wait a year but I'm glad I did it as soon as possible as I think the longer you wait, the harder it gets. Good luck though and hope it all works out.

Hi, I just wondered how your fat transfer with Dr Sorensen held up? Any problems? Thank you.
September 16, 2023
Yeah, it’s still good. He only put a small amount in so I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between before and after with regards to volume… but the quality of my skin is much improved. It has a kind of shine on it from the fat and I think it’s prevented lines from forming. I don’t use Botox but I don’t seem to get any forehead lines.
September 21, 2023
He put it everywhere! I did get a bump below one of my eyes from the fat which was annoying but it doesn’t show massively- I just notice it in a certain light.

You’ll be lucky if that red ever goes away I have blepharoplasty with Kremer three years ago and I still have very visible scarring and redness
September 16, 2023
Yes, it still have redness on my eyelids from the botched job but it’s easily covered with foundation and my eyelids look much better after the revision surgery.
