The Only Person I Trust with my Face

Dr. Cabin is perhaps the only person I trust implicitly with my face. After seeing him for many years in LA (for botox and filler), I was bummed when he moved with his family to Arlington, VA. Luckily though, I'm from the MD area, so I make it a point to schedule my injections with Dr. Cabin when I travel back to see family.

Dr. Cabin and I talked about an upper blepharoplasty for a while, and I finally decided on a couple weeks when I could carve out some time to be back home for the procedure (and recovery).

The staff at SkinDC was pleasant, attentive, and helpful throughout the scheduling and pre-op process, and they helped me make it all work while living on the other side of the country. We Zoomed in the lead up, and the office called the necessary prescriptions into my pharmacy in LA so that I was as prepared as possible.

The same goes for the actual procedure. I met with Dr. Cabin the day or so before the procedure to review everything, and so they could tell me everything else I needed to know. On the day of the procedure, Dr. Cabin and the rest of the staff put me at ease, and I felt so grateful to be in such good hands (literally).

The procedure itself went smoothly, and at one point when the numbing wore off and I was feeling some discomfort where he was working, Dr. Cabin stopped to give me a break. At this time, they also numbed the area more, and give me a little more of the mild anxiety meds (the "MKO melt," short for midazolam/ketamine/ondansetron) to take the edge off.

When everything was finished, I got picked up from the office (you can't drive and must have a ride). There was of course some discomfort, but Dr. Cabin continued to check in on me. I went back for a routine follow up the day after, and I was reassured that the stitches and everything looked as they were supposed to. Dr. Cabin was clear about everything I needed to do, as well as what I could not do (exercise, drink alcohol, wear eye makeup, etc.), as well as the duration for the dos and do nots. Then, one week later, I went back for him to remove the stitches.

For anyone considering an upper bleph, I would plan for one week of not being "presentable." And one more week of not looking your best.

After two weeks, the swelling was down and I wasn't embarrassed to be in public. From there, everything just continued to improve, and I am really happy with the result. As Dr. Cabin told me, my eyes look more open and not as "heavy." While the average person may not notice I had anything done (which isn't necessarily a bad thing), it is very noticeable to me, as well as to anyone who sees me a lot (or anyone who looks at a "before" picture).

I imagine that if I lived locally, I would maybe have gone back for more in-person check ups, but we did a couple Zoom sessions so Dr. Cabin could see how everything was healing. I took care of the incision sites as instructed, and used the scar gel for the advised time afterwards, and you can barely see any scarring. If I close my eyes and you look carefully, there is the faintest line on my right eye. This very slight mark though isn't visible at all when my eyes are open, and no one would ever know unless they were trying to look for it.

I strongly endorse Dr. Cabin and SkinDC for the upper bleph and any other facial procedures. Even though I've yet to do any other major facial surgeries, I'll definitely go back to him if/when I decide to do so. He's a master of his craft, has an amazing "bedside manner," and cares deeply about his patients and what he does.
