An Eye for Detail

Short version: Dr. Taban is incredibly talented and I could not be happier with the results of my upper eyelid blepharoplasty. He’s kind, soft spoken, and truly compassionate. His eye for detail and precision is unparalleled. Results took 2-3 months for me, so give him your patience and trust. You’ll be in good hands.
Long version: I researched many doctors specializing in the eyes and I kept seeing great reviews for Dr. Taban. Due to rapid weight loss, I lost face fat and I felt it showed most in the hollowness of my right eye. This was coupled with upper eyelid drooping on my left, and overall caused an asymmetry that was really bothering me. I first met Dr. Taban via a FaceTime call. He was kind, said very little, mostly just examined, and then recommended an upper blepharoplasty with some filler. Though he’s a man of a few words, he definitely exudes an energy that is confident and also compassionate. It made me feel like I could trust him with my face. I was very nervous about going under anesthesia, but he said the procedure was simple and could be done in his office with local anesthesia. Because I was feeling insecure, I inquired about more procedures and fillers, but Dr. Taban kindly declined. He said they were unnecessary. I really appreciated his honesty in that. He did not oversell or take advantage of me when I was feeling vulnerable. The day of surgery I was prescribed Xanax and a pain med. The procedure itself took only a few minutes. It was painless and I felt literally amazing because the Xanax had hit me hard! However...post surgery I looked like a train wreck, swollen and bruised purple. This only got worse after a couple days. But I continued to apply ice and the prescribed post surgery ointment. After a week I came back to his office to get the stitches removed. I still looked bad, like I had been punched in both eyes and unevenly swollen. I felt asymmetric and thought maybe this was just my result and perhaps fate was punishing my episode of vanity. Still, Dr. Taban said little and assured me I would be satisfied with the result. Although I wished he’d say more, like uneven swelling is typical...he still had a kind confidence to him. That gave me a sense of relief and I just tried to trust. Sure enough, within 3 months everything evened out. No touch ups or corrections were needed. He fixed the problem, no one could tell I had anything done, my eyes were refreshed and I feel really great. Through all of this I learned that you really don’t ever need any surgery to feel good, but if you’ve decided to do a procedure on your face, use the best doctor you can find because a tiny bit of correction can sometimes just give you the right boost towards feeling like an even better you.
