1.5 years post op

Just an update here. Went ahead and plucked out every single hair that was transplanted. I much prefer the no eyebrow look to coarse pubic eyebrows any day! I have to keep plucking them out until the hail follicle dies. The harvest site on the back of my head is extremely thin. The hair finally started growing back, but I now have a flat head because Dr Richardson took way too much of my scalp. This is hair I will never get back. Felt like my procedure was one big science experiment. Ladies, please go to a dedicated hair transplant specialist.

Don't do it

I have complete and total regret of getting this procedure done. If I can save another girlie from getting this, then this review is well worth it. I've had sparse eyebrows most of my life mostly because I use to pluck them very thin. After seeing major celebrities, like Chrissy Teagan advertise their eyebrow transplant, it convinced me to seek out the procedure. I consulted with Dr. Richardson. He said I was the perfect candidate and that the procedure was fairly easy. No mention of any caution or trying any alternative hair stimulating methods first. Transplant day arrived and I was extremely excited. Dr. Richardson drew on my eyebrows to the way he thought would look nice. I wanted to tweak them and he instantly gave me an attitude about it. He went on a rant about how it doesn't matter because I can groom them in a certain way. That was the sign from the heavens for me to back out, but I unfortunately didn't take the hint. I went on to make the single shape change and then we went to surgery. He then performed the FUT procedure which takes a strip from the crown of your head, an area where the hair grows the absolute thickest. The procedure was not as easy as consulted and I was in a lot of pain. Another tech walked in the operating room and went to grab something. The assistant then yelled "those are sterile!!" after the tech already touched the objects on the table. There was no changing out of any items. At that point my scalp was already sliced open and I'm trying my best to keep calm. To say the least the operating room was just chaos. They then moved me in to another room where 2 different techs worked on inserting the grafts, one for each brow. Dr. Richardson never told me his assistants were the ones to insert the grafts. There was one gal who inserted the grafts much faster than the other and bragged that she finished so quickly. (Lo and behold that eyebrow turned out much worse than the tech that took her time.) Healing wasn't too difficult and I liked how natural my brows looked 1 month post op. I really hoped that despite my rocky experience, this was a good decision. Little did I know, the real results did not appear until the grafts fell out and the regrowth starts (happened about 4 months post op for me). Now, my eyebrow hair is unnaturally coarse and prickly (similar to pubic hair). They grow in crazy directions, so every day I have to lay them down with Got 2 B Glue and they look so stupid. They are nothing like the soft hairs that natural eyebrows have. I went in for my post op consult and shared my concerns. Dr Richardson relayed that I have to train my hairs and that there is no way you can control the direction that the hair grows in. Interestingly enough, every eyebrow transplant doctor on Real Self says otherwise! He also tried to convince me that they looked amazing and suggested I laser them off if I really hate them that much. Lasering isn't an option because it'll damage my natural eyebrow hair follicles I want to keep. I was in ugly tears the entire time. Dr Richardson then ushered me into a room to take photos I didn't want to take. I felt so exposed and humiliated. For months I felt hopeless and fell into a bit of a depression because of how awful my brows look. If I can turn back time I would first explore microneedling with PRP. If that didn't seem to help regrow lost hairs I would find another doctor that specializes in hair transplants only. I would also explore an FUE method and make sure the doctor would be the one inserting the grafts. I hear often that hair transplants takes a true artist, I just don't think I picked the right one.
