No More Eye Bags!

I had conspicuous undereye bags.  They bothered me when I saw myself during zoom calls.  I decided to try lower lid surgery to fix them.  I interviewed two doctors in the area and decided to go with Dr. Chang.  I first found Dr. Chang via the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (asoprs.org).  She was trained with some of the best institutes and is also teaching at U. of Washington.  She specializes in eyes and faces.  She gave me two consultations before surgery and answered all my questions with patience and understanding.  She performed the lower eyelid blepharoplasty with fat transposition on me. The surgery went well.  However, it was a bit more traumatic than I expected. I had swelling and bruises on my face and went hiding for two weeks. Dr. Chang allowed me to call her and text her at any time for any concerns.  It gave me a peace of mind.  I returned for check up 5 weeks after surgery and she found unexpected scarring.  She injected anti-scarring medicine and later botox to take care of the problem.  She was caring, confident and wanted the best results for me.  It is now about 100 days after surgery.  Everything is healed and well.  I have no eye bags and look more like myself from 15 years ago.  I feel blessed to have Dr. Chang in the area.  I'll definitely go to her again should needs arise.

Thank you for your review! Im happy to hear you're happy with your results. I'm getting a lower Bleph in a month and I'm a little nervous. I plan on hiding for a while but how long before you weren't self conscious to be seen? Also, any tips to help with recovery? Thank you!

Two weeks after surgery, the bruise and swelling can be easily hidden by foundations. I had a hard time putting contacts on though. Due to unexpected scarring, I did not wear contacts for 6 weeks. To help with recovery, I bought a wedge pillow to help me sleep on the back; I ate fresh or canned pineapples everyday to reduce bruise; I used sterile eye drops to ease the dry eyes. As long as you follow the instructions given, you shall recover quickly. I wish you a successful outcome!

Hi I have suffered with under eye bags for years. But don’t want fillers. I live in Lincolnshire so willing to travel. I’m very sceptical. Any help is appreciated thanks x

Based on my experience, it is better to stay close to the doctor for at least 6 weeks.  I had a minor complication of scarring issues and received anti-scarring shots at week 5 and botox shots at week 6 to alleviate the problem.  I saw the doctor for follow-up at week 7 and week 12 which does not involve further treatment but to make sure things go well. Hope this helps.
